Ribeye perfectly medium-rare with Potatoes!
Jonathan L.

The visitor center at Red Lodge really hyped this place up for us!! The restaurant was about 15 mins from Red Lodge. When we arrived, unfortunately, They didn't have the two steak dishes we were looking forward to order here...! The Bison Ribeye and Prime Rib (which sources seem to mention the most). We ordered a few glasses of wine and they were a bit flat here. We ordered the Filet and regular Ribeye. Though the Filet was OK, the Ribeye was extremely flavorful... I have added a photo to spotlight it! It was a perfect medium-rare and the amount of salt was perfect. Perhaps we'll be back in the future for Pig Races as well! They took COVID-19 very seriously; we saw them wipe down every seat and edges of the table after guests finished their meal and left.

a plate of food and a knife

I'm extremely picky about food. Especially steak. 10/10 absolutely hands down THE BEST dinner I've had in a long time. Says a lot when I finished my dinner before my husband. We were in Montana on vacation and picked this place by looking on Google maps at food places around. Best choice ever!! Only thing I'd change is having a vegetable served with the meal.

Dinner starts at 5 and racing starts at 7

So if you find yourself passing through Bearcreek Montana you must go for dinner and pig racing. YES pig racing! So the building is old and the town is probably smaller than your bathroom but you got to do it. The menu is simple with only 3 or so offerings of steaks. If you didn't know, Wyoming and Montana are known for their angus beef. This place has an exceptional filet mignon. The best part is the fact that they know how to cook a steak. So if you order rare, don't be surprised when your steak is actually cooked rare. All of the steaks are served with a baked potato and salad. All are healthy portions. Oh yeah and get this they serve Tobin James "ballistic" wine too...( this wine is one of my fav's and the winery is in Paso Robles, CA) The wait staff is good. But you must check out the bathrooms. I won't give away the secret but check twice before you enter. So after a satisfying meal you go out back for real life sanctioned pig racing. Pig racing was an idea that was implemented many years ago. All of the proceeds go to funding scholarships for local kids to help pay for college. You will love the names of the little racing pigs....Boss Hawg, Porky's and jimmy dean. Have family fun and a good meal in a super small town in America....priceless!

To go order or crab with potato and Greek salad.

Take out order was quick and safe. Owner greeted me at the door with mask and made sure safety was considered. Food was well packaged and tasty! Worth the drive!

An appropriate beverage choice in light of the evening entertainment!

Best cooked steak I've had in a long time. The pig racing was so entertaining! I'm excited to come back in the future and bring my family!

The special event was pig races which I wish we had time to stay and watch but could hear the fun and excitement.

I wasn't quite…read moresure what to expect as we walked in, but from the moment we entered, I knew we had stumbled onto something special. The interior was a little on the dark side, but the warm, inviting vibe pulled us in. We navigated our way to the main section, finding two wonderfully comfortable plush blue chairs next to the bar. The small details immediately caught my attention--each table adorned with fresh flowers in charming vases, adding a thoughtful and personal touch. Our server was genuinely sweet and attentive, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. I did notice they have an outdoor patio out back, but the atmosphere inside was too good to pass up. We began with the spring pea salad--an absolute standout--featuring creamy ricotta, crisp snap peas, fresh mint, and pistachios. It was fresh, crunchy, and beautifully balanced. We added a slice of toasted ciabatta bread, topping it with the salad to make our own bruschetta-style bites, which turned it into a perfect little dish. Next came the spice-roasted carrots, which were every bit as flavorful as they were beautiful, followed by the pork belly barbecue with a blueberry barbecue sauce. The sweetness of the sauce paired beautifully with the rich pork belly, creating a dish that was both comforting and elevated. For drinks, I had the Jayne Mansfield--a bright, refreshing, and totally unique cocktail--while my mom enjoyed the Lauren Bacall, which she loved. The restaurant's name comes from a fun and memorable story: the owners were discussing their plans to open the restaurant when they spotted a one-legged magpie. It stuck--and now it's part of the charm of the place. One Legged Magpie delivers on every level: warm atmosphere, thoughtful touches, incredible food, and a sense of place you won't soon forget. If you're in Red Lodge, this is a must-visit spot.

My husband thoroughly enjoyed the pizza special (not sure of the name but it had an egg over easy in the center). It too was delicious. What a fun spot. The ciders are consistently great and we always make a point to stop in when we're in town. However, visiting in the off-season can be tricky. When we were there, only one employee was working the bar. We ordered a beer and a cider flight, but after we ordered several more customers came in and lined up. The bartender understandably tried to take care of everyone, but ended up serving at least six new arrivals -- pouring beers and running payments -- while our order never came. After about 20 minutes we had to leave, which was really disappointing because we were genuinely looking forward to it. This isn't a complaint about the staff -- she was clearly doing her best -- just a heads-up: if you visit during slower months, be prepared for limited staffing and longer waits (and possibly no food service). We'll definitely still come back... just maybe during busier season next time.

I was leaning towards something mediocre put there to drain the pockets of a would-be thristy, or perhaps hungry, passerby... We drove through the hoards of people to the outskirts, where the crowds thinned & the parking opened up to a large lot. Cool. So far, so good. The red building was easy enough to spot & there was music playing from a tent in the field. We headed for the building door from the back of the building and found ourselves sniffing the air... could that be house smoked meat? Yes, yes, it is... and making us walk by a smoker is a sure-fire (pun intended) way to get us to buy your food along with your beer! On to the bar we went, where we were met by an energetic 1 day a week worker. (We know because she mentioned it, we weren't THAT nosey!) She gave us a run through & we ordered our BOGO brews & an order of pulled pork tacos with black beans to split. Were they spicy tacos, no. Were they on flour instead of corn, yes. Was the pork tender, juicy, flavorful & smoky... YES! The black beans were a great side choice if I must say so myself & both paired well with our beer options. Dually Double IPA in at 4.5 for Kel - n/a from me Dog Pull Porter in at 3.75 from Kel & 4 from me Unfortunately, the only to-go option then was growlers & that didn't work for us at the time. Next time through, perhaps it will or crowlers (other options) will be available. We would indeed go back. On paying, they did miss the bogo beer & offered us our choice of refund and recharge correctly or 2 free drinks next visit. As we haf no idea when we'd be back, we sadly had to opt for the refund. I want to emphasize that it was NOT an international overcharge & it was immediately corrected.
