While the name remains the same, everything else seems an "ahhh..." some improvement from making the interior more welcoming, the service more gracious and the food more delicious. With the changes initiated in early 2025, it is still early days in their ownership and I'm sure there will be more to come as the eatery evolves. SPACE & SEATING: I swear the original owner had such bright lighting inside that one could land a plane there but now it is soft lighting that along with greeting offered by Colton makes guests feel very welcome stepping in the door. Italian themed music at just the right level to know it is there but not to compete with conversation. Table seating that was "sardine can tight" under the original owner, so tight that it made it a squeeze for servers trying to get to the tables and even blocked the path to the loo, has been rearranged to offer space to get around. MENU & $: The menu remains pasta centric but the new menu retains many of the former favorites and has been expanded to add new dishes. Pasta price points are roughly $23 and up for expertly prepared dishes of perfectly al dente pasta in generous portions and served hot to the table. There are also antipasti (cold and hot) that start at about $13 (example; for salads) to $23 (example for fried calamari and shrimp). Arancini are on the antipasti menu here and they are hard to find in this area. The new chef has also added "of the day" specials for fish and risotto. Because the pizza oven has put back in order, they are also offering a handful of pizza options. So one could order a meal as simple as a pizza and salad or do what we did when celebrating our anniversary here recently, and share the beet salad with orange an goat cheese ($17) to start then order both the Risotto del Giorno (on this evening it was sausage, broccoli rabe, corn $32) and Pescato (fish) del Giorno (on this evening it was full of lobster meat and tail-on shrimp over pasta in a perfect light white sauce $39) Of the day, del Giorno, options are AQ so the server will provide the price when describing the dish. Both of our dishes were delicious with in generous portions; some of the risotto came home with us to be enjoyed the next day. (See my photos.) My husband is Italian on both sides and grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn and he thought the dishes perfect. IF I WERE QUEEN: I would bid wave my scepter and have them I would reduce the number of pasta dishes (some carried over from the old menu) and add in a few other non-pasta Italian options. (A la A Cena or Nostrana in Portland. This chef has the skill to do it.) SERVICE: The chef's daughter has been the main server but an accident a couple of months ago means she is needing time to recover and the friendly young woman serving on the night of our visit, with back up from Colton, did a lovely job. We felt well tended but not hovered over and she seemed to be offering the same gracious care to the tables all around us. It seemed she may have been a little new to the menu ingredients but that will come with time and this was big tip worthy customer care. LIBATIONS: A thoughtfully crafted wine list, beer and soft beverages across price points and our two by glass wine options totaled only $21. RESERVATIONS & AN "ALL ARE WELOME HERE" GREETING FOR WALK INS: Reservations via Open Table or by calling the restaurant and it is best to make one, although on busy Thursday when we dined in, there were a couple of walk ins, both a single and a family of four, who were able to be seated. And it is worth noting that the single young man diner and the family of four with teens in tow were treated with the same welcome and attention as the reserved dining guests. That doesn't always happen in restaurants and it didn't happen here under the original owner with the wife working front of house. ACCESSIBILITY: The inside set up has some tables that would be accessible to diners using wheelchairs and that is an improvement made by the current owners because under the previous owner that was not the case. The ongoing problem is the parking lot here has always been non-compliant for ADA with not a single spot of accessible parking near the restaurant. The lot owner finally marked a space with the ADA logo but the infuriating (that is the right response) thing is that they did not add a curb ramp so unless a wheelchair user can step up over a roughly 6" curb this is worthless. It also violates 36 year old Federal law and Idaho State building code.

Absolutely nothing. The restaurant is located in downtown Boise. The only problem is the limited parking in this immediate area. But fighting for parking is worth it. We patiently waited in line while most people in line were chatting about what brought them here or that it was their first visit. I think we all waited in eager anticipation. Once I got to the front of the line, I was enthusiastically greeted with how I wanted to start my potato...with butter, salt, pepper and/or cheese. The server used their talent to carve open this gigantic, perfectly cooked baked potato...then slather with butter. I was hooked the moment I saw that. Then everything became a blur...there was no stopping me. Toppings? Yes. Almost every one. Nothing mattered at that point. Parmesan sauce? Yes. Just pile it on. I added tomatoes, green onions, bacon, cheese, butter, and potato chips on top...but those are the only toppings I actually remember adding. My potato was a picture of glory. Then we sat down and I was able to eat it. Perfection. Every bite. I couldn't finish that entire potato perfection, but I loved every bite of it. The soda station was clean and had plenty of great soda options. The spud store is filled with adorable, functional and noteworthy items that are hard not to buy. One of the only inconvenient things is that the line of people waiting for service blocks people from going to/from the soda and store and anyone that wants to come in. I have been sitting on my fingers since I learned this a week ago to not have to type the news into Yelp in the magical thinking that if it wasn't said it wouldn't be true. But, very sadly, it is. Not only have Aaron and Kelly (he the inaugural chef at Juniper and she the one time business manager for Coiled winery and other food businesses) contributed greatly to people who love to eat good food through their support of local growers and suppliers to use those ingredients in Aaron's remarkably delicious creations and modeled the best customer care, Kelly's ears should be burning for how many times her name comes up when conversations are had with others about examples of "how to" for extraordinary hospitality, they have contributed much to the Boise community by being really wonderful people. Boise is the better for them being here.

It was disheartening and I wouldn't want anyone else to go in here excited to buy and support a small business and then be disappointed and disrespected the way I was. Other customers seemed to be treated differently and if you're black or brown in Idaho, you know when you're unwelcome.

I am so sad, and know that I will be for quite a long time , so to ease the pain a bit and help me to stay busy and keep my mind off of losing her, my very beautiful friend decided we should go to Peaceful Belly Farm and relax, have some delicious food, be in nature and around positive people with a beautiful ambience. Of course Peaceful Belly delivered as always. We decided to have a gorgeous glass of Viogner, and thought it would be nice to split a few of the dishes to share. We started with the spinach dip bread bowl, with farm, fresh spinach mixed with a three cheese blend served in a Acme sourdough loaf. The dip was so yummy, creamy and heartwarming, and there were so many layers of flavor. It was just the right amount of salty and the texture was wonderful. It was served in an Acme sourdough loaf which is always delicious. They cut up the top portion of the bowl into small pieces so that we could easily dunk the bread into the dip. It was the perfect way to start the meal. I don't think there was much left of that when all was said and done. The second dish that we decided on together was the deviled eggs. They were beautiful, fresh, farm eggs that were nice and cold and the yolks were whipped beautifully with dill and garlic filling. Garnished on top of the eggs they served this insane, brown sugar, caramelized McIntyre bacon. There were some gorgeous, delicate, yellow, edible flower petals on top which took it over the top aesthetically. They were perfect. It was a serving of four and it was just enough for my friend and I. Last but not least, we had a dish made from homemade chorizo from the James Beard nominated Chef, Dan Ansot of Ansot's Basque restaurant in downtown Boise. It was phenomenal. Made with warm saffron stew that had carrots and sweet pepper, onion and garlic on a creamy polenta base topped with his Basque chorizo and grilling cheese (which is one of my favorite cheeses ever!) It was spicy and so complex. We really enjoyed this dish tremendously. Our server Kayla was wonderful. She checked up on us often, but not too often to make sure that we were enjoying everything and asked if we wanted more wine. The dishes came out in a timely manner and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The atmosphere is gorgeous set in an open space full of greenery and flowers and food growing all about the property, not to mention all of the gorgeous black and white sheep that are grazing peacefully around the restaurant outside. It was a perfect day with a perfect friend with perfect weather and really helped me to set aside the sadness I felt from losing my sweet little fur baby, even if just for a little while. The inside is impeccably clean and a bright open space with plenty of tables. They have a ton of gorgeous dry flowers from all over the property hanging gracefully from the ceiling and they always have fun artwork hanging on the walls. I will always return. They do a good thing for the community and they have a gorgeous space with beautiful food and people. Thank you for helping me through my grief. See you soon!
