Nice, cozy restaurant in Basque Block area of Boise! This is my first time trying Basque style…read moretapas, which for those that have been to Spain or had tapas, is quite adjacent to Catalonian style tapas (Barcelona) but with different types of ingredients. We tried the pintxos of the day (3 for $10) - seafood and chorizo gratin, goat cheese and zucchini compote, and sardine bollo with lemon aioli; Basque meatballs with Sheepherder's bread, and braised lamb and potatoes. We also shared a frozen sangria which is a white wine slush with a splash of red wine float. All the food is amazing - the Basque meatballs is a bit on the saltier side but the Sheepherder's bread is so crispy and buttery! Among the pintxos, I loved the seafood and chorizo gratin the most, but all are delicious. The braised lamb and potatoes are good - the lamb is juicy while the potatoes were flavorful and slightly crispy. Service is good for an order at the counter style establishment - servers still walk around and check up on customers, even though the rest of the experience (filling water, etc) is more self-serve.

I got one clam a two shrimp two mussels ans lots of greasy rice with chorizo. The Red Bean Soup tasted straight from a can. The fried parson peppers were good. Friendly staff, cute market. Note: the market is a single wall of import items like $28 cans of octopus.

If your coming here for the first time do not miss the schnitzel meals! It's a good hearty meal to fill a hungry belly! The pork is flattened thin, cooked perfectly and the breading flavorful and crispy. The fries thicker cut, skin on and nicely salted, yum! I had the Donor Kebab this time because I hadn't tried it yet and I have been missing out. It was really good! The mixed meat was on point and cooked just right. The veggie combinations were different then what I'm used to with kebabs but it worked really well. They had red cabbage, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, and pepperoncinis. The pita was wrapped in a thin, yet thick enough wrap to hold it all together and it was a perfect compliment to this Kebab! You can also never go wrong with any sausages, bratwurst or bologna. I like that they don't have a huge menu because everything you get is quality ingredients made with care. Did I mention beer? They have a multitude of glasses and form factors to pour into. The owners and employees have been consistently very kind and helpful with any questions I have about the market or restaurant since the beginning. Speaking of the market, they have always had great and fair prices with their imported items and its one of the only places in town that has quality European dark chocolates. Definitely do not miss this stop if you like good beer and excellent food!

I checked reviews and the menu on here and was torn between a Reuben and a schnitzel sandwich. I went with the schnitzel and it is a five star sandwich for sure. Pounded incredibly thin with a crispy seasoned breading and on a fresh crusty bun. Honestly I miss that sandwich. Next time, we will see how the Reuben compares! I'm never coming to Boise again without hitting das Alpenhaus.

But we've discovered that locals in Boise tend to overrate all of their eateries. And Reeds is no exception. Despite an average customer rating of 4.76 on all platforms, the ice cream isn't nearly as good as its competition on that list (for instance, Ehlers in Louisville some 1,900 miles away will simply blow your mind). Now don't get me wrong. The flavors are clever, the taste is delicious, and the butter pecan and maple are both very good. And I greatly respect a creamery that's bold enough to make the nearly-impossible-to-find licorice ice cream! But the product just doesn't strike you as a top 15 ice cream spot. I do love the cheeses and milk offered in the refrigerated section. And believe me, you'll enjoy Reeds. Just don't expect anything 10 levels above Baskin Robbins.

I was looking for milkshakes, but once I stepped in, ice cream was hard to resist. One of my favorite ice creams, since I was a kid, is Butter Pecan (aka Pralines and cream), but I rarely find it these days, and when I do, it's usually too sweet. Not this time! I was so excited they had it, and proceeded to try a sample of it, and it was absolutely perfect!! Rich, creamy, and perfectly sweet, with a touch of crunch. I also took home some Strawberry Cheesecake, which was also delectable. My husband's favorite ice cream is.....wait for it.....black licorice. Nobody carries this flavor....for years, he has gone without. I'm NOT a fan of black licorice, but I know some are, so I will tell you that Reed's does have it if you got a hankerin' for it, and according to my husband, it's really good, however, I cannot say, as I will not try it. All in all, this place will be a go-to for us for ice cream, but we also have yet to try their cheeses!!!
