Leftovers

what a quaint little "hole in the wall" restaurant in Historic Auburn, Ca. John Travolta filmed some of the 90's classic Phenomenon here. Their Omlettes are absolutely delicious!!! Coffee good too! Friendly Customer Service. We will definitely be back!!!

This place and the food is older than "old skool". It's a throwback to the early 1960's. I do know, I was 13 years old when the Beatles landed in New York (1964) to play on the Ed Sullivan TV show. Back to this here restaurant. It's funky in a non-threatening way. The vinyl seats in the booths are torn to $#i+. The bath rooms look like they haven't been scrubbed in decades. The wall board above the men's room sink is crumbling. The floor in front of the toilet is sticky with dried urine. Okay you get the picture. The owner and the service staff are welcoming and friendly. The dining room was 3/4 full at 10:30am. Obviously all of them were Auburn locals as the service folks were addressing every one of them by first name. The offerings are all the diner food choices you will find at most places that are also locked into a menu from 60 years ago. My loco moco ($18.95) was merely okay. I spend 8 weeks / year on Kauai and O'ahu. I've eaten 100's of loco moco meals. The one here is did not send me into a rapture. Frankly, it as pretty mediocre. I eat at a lot of mom n' pops restaurants. Expensive ones, cheap ones, trendy ones, urban ones, out in the boonies ones. Have had some amazing meals. Many forgettable ones. I hope to forget my experience here soon. I love Auburn. Will endeavor to visit other places that offer brunch. I suggest that you do as well. Unless you are born n' raised in Auburn and this place is in your DNA.

We chose this restaurant randomly from seeing photos of the food and menu. We arrived and put our name on the waiting list. The inside was nearly full and we had one party in front of us and then about 3-4 more parties showed up after us. We could tell it was a popular spot. It took about 15 min to be sat, we received our drinks fairly quickly, and they took our order within about 10 min of being sat. But the wait for the food was around 45+ min. We were a bit hungry after waiting over an hour to finally eat. I ordered scrambled eggs with ham and country potatoes. My daughter ordered the French dip with fries, and my two friends both ordered omelettes. The food was good, I wouldn't say anything special but it all tasted great and we were all happy with what we got. It was quite hot inside too. The service was really good. We were asked if we wanted refills about every 5 minutes. I wasn't upset at that at all. I'd always choose over service over under service.

Great small town feel restaurant. As place name house of omelets suggests, the omelets here are great! A lot of choices also. Service is friendly too. Omelet I had was delicious and the pineapple waffle too! Great place to stop and eat if in the area!

Classic old school diner. Fast and friendly service. Food was reasonably priced, hot, and fresh. Chicken fried steak was good, hot home fries, excellent blueberry pancake.

Mushroom and Swiss omelet

What a cute diner it is! We stopped here for lunch on our way back and had a very filling and delicious meal. Personable service and really cozy inside. My mushroom and Swiss omelet was fluffy and tasty. So much food and we needed to walk around a little before getting back in our car. We were able to park right in front of the restaurant by luck (there was a single spot open) but there are plenty of parking alongside the street, and there's a parking lot right next to the restaurant as well, which we didn't see until later.

Happy Easter everyone!…read more Today, my daughter and I went out to breakfast here at Sweetpeas. It is located off the freeway on the corner of Bowman and Luther roads. There was plenty of parking when we pulled in. As you walk in, you seat yourself. I hadn't been here before, but my daughter has. When we sat down (table and chairs kinda place), one server got us a couple of waters while we were looking over the menu.. perfect, because that's what we love to drink. After we decided on what we wanted I got a chance to look around at the decor on the walls. It felt very family friendly with baby pictures on the walls, signs, coffee mugs along the restaurants name spelled out on the wall. It was very cute and cozy. My daughter ordered the Carnitas Omelet (Carnitas omelet with jack cheese, black beans, red onions, avocado, and black olives, topped with sour cream. Served with sourdough toast and fresh fruit) with strawberries. I ordered the Huevos Ranchero's with eggs over medium (Corn tortillas, refried beans, 2 eggs, sour cream, avocado, homemade salsa, and cheese cheese. Also served with a side of salsa.) We didn't wait long, it arrived within 10 minutes. Also, after smelling their delicious coffee, I had to have a cup! A+!!!! My daughter let me try her Carnitas Omelet. Their Carnitas is on point! It was tender and has great flavor! Her omelet was beautifully cooked, being that it was gorgeous, yellow and fluffy. My Huevos Ranchero's was crispy in the bottom as I requested. I love the topping of avocado. The only thing I would change is to get all the salsa on the side. There was quite a bit on the Huevos Ranchero's themselves and it was a little overwhelming. Next time, I'll order it completely on the side. The menu has it listed as homemade... it tasted a little bit like it was Pace chunky salsa. I didn't even touch the side of salsa that also comes in the side and I wasn't sure what the extra side of tortillas was for, but I took those home. My daughter took home about half of her 3 egg omelet and some toast. Maddy was a great server. Everyone helped each other out by doing coffee refills for all tables (not just their own), running out hot food, and helping clean up tables as people finished their plates. Great team work! We paid up in the front and we're on our way. BE SURE TO TIP YOUR SERVER FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK!

I just discovered this place last week when I visited Auburn to take a jewelry class right around…read morethe corner from this coffee shop. The class instructor recommended this coffee shop to us and I'm glad I took his direction because the drinks and food at The Pour Choice were top notch and reasonably priced. They have a second floor balcony that you can go eat or enjoy your beverages on. Outstanding Food, Service, and Atmosphere!…read more What an outstanding find in Auburn, California! Baked & Brewed Coffee Shop exceeded our expectations from beginning to end. I ordered the turkey club sandwich, and it was exceptional. This wasn't your typical sandwich made with thinly sliced, packaged deli turkey. The turkey was generously portioned, carved rather than shaved into tiny slices, and served in a wonderful double-decker club sandwich. Absolutely delicious! The accompanying salad was nicely prepared and complemented the meal beautifully. Even the tea deserves recognition. It was clearly freshly brewed, flavorful, and without the bitterness that sometimes accompanies restaurant iced tea. Service was equally impressive. We received a friendly greeting upon entering, and the staff was prompt, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. Cleanliness was beyond expectations. In fact, employees were actively cleaning while we were there, demonstrating genuine attention to maintaining a pleasant environment. With both indoor and outdoor seating, Baked & Brewed offers a comfortable setting for a relaxing meal. From the food to the service to the cleanliness, this establishment gets everything right. If you find yourself in Auburn, California, this is definitely a place worth stopping. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend it!

I'm just not into supporting establishments that prioritize the fast food society over real food.

I am honestly disgusted by the way Holly treated us. I was there in person to pick up a birthday…read morecake my sister had already purchased, only to find out they had given it away to someone else. What should have been a simple mistake turned into an absolutely horrible experience because of Holly's attitude. She was incredibly rude, passive-aggressive, and NEVER once apologized for THEIR mistake. When I asked for her name, she made sure to announce that she was a supervisor, but I think she was just a b****. What kind of supervisor makes a comment about pulling a chocolate cake out of her a** in front of customers? I genuinely couldn't believe what I was hearing. The worst part wasn't even that they gave away the cake. It was how little Holly seemed to care. There was no empathy, no accountability, and absolutely no professionalism. She acted as though we were the problem when all we wanted was the cake my sister had already paid for. I have worked with people long enough to know that mistakes happen, but there is absolutely no excuse for treating customers this way. I hope the owners seriously reconsider who they have representing their business because Holly's behavior was embarrassing and completely unacceptable.
