I've been a loyal customer of Eddie's Pizza in Ridgefield for years, so I'm extremely disappointed by what happened tonight. When ordering online, I selected the button for "half pepperoni" and I didn't realize that their system interprets that as no cheese on the other half unless you click an additional selector. To make sure the order was clear, I wrote in the notes "half pep / half cheese." They followed another note I included -- "dressing on the side" for my salad -- so I know the notes were read. But the pizza arrived with half pepperoni and the other half was just dough with barely any sauce and no cheese at all. I called expecting they would fix it, especially since we order from here constantly and this was clearly just a misunderstanding. Instead, the owner refused to send another pizza unless I paid for a whole new one, and he wouldn't come to the phone to speak with me. Even if the online selector caused the confusion, the note was printed right on the receipt -- they could have easily made it right. After years of supporting this place, I'm honestly really disappointed. A small mistake turned into a terrible customer service experience because of the refusal to fix it. read more

The relaxing ambiance, the menu, the attention, all top. They have here the real pasta faggioli, not red, not a chili red thingy but the real Italian one. The bread on the table is special, absolutely tasty. The chicken francese, to die for, a very elegant one, the churros were made in heaven. Our waiter was kind, engaging and professional. Man, this place is just consistently...not very good. I swore them off years ago but recently have tried them again on occasion. Tonight, I ordered the special pizza, which I had ordered previously and enjoyed, and they just left off a key ingredient, the specific ingredient that made me like the pizza. No warning. Just charged the full price and decided to omit the ingredient. With so many great places in Ridgefield, there's no reason to patronize this place. We happened on Eddie's by accident because the place we intended to go was unexpectedly closed. The sign said Eddie's Pizza so I was expecting a typical pizza joint. Surprise, surprise, Eddie's has a full Italian restaurant menu. The service was good, the food great. The warm bread served up front was wonderful with just a hint of garlic. I had penne carbonara which was delicious. The wine list is short but adequate. I enjoyed a glass of Chianti while my wife had a pinot noir. The ambiance is warm, making the best of a long'ish narrow space. We will definitely return. read more

Husband and I ate last night at about 6:30 before Playhouse show and one of the first diners. So when our pasta, chicken, sausage in garlic and oil was served , the garlic was burned and the dish was so dry we poured olive oil just to eat it. The chicken were tiny dried out pieces. I was recently over at a friend's and everyone was hungry so as you do we ordered some pies. We opted for a pretty basic order a cheese pie and a Roni with peppers as well as a salad. The pizzas arrived fairly quickly which was nice but the flavor was really lacking. Everyone shared the same thoughts that there just needs to be a bit more flavor. We are far from pizza snobs and as happy with the most basic of pizza as anyone but these were tough to rate any higher than the 3 stars I opted for. I ate here during the weekend with my daughters. I ordered the Lasagna with salad. It was good. My daughter ordered lobster ravioli she found it needed more ricotta and parmesan and the sauce was bland lacking in flavor. My other daughter had a buffalo chicken calzone. She said it was average. A review of Eddie's Ridgefield, CT I hate to write a bad review. I really do. But of all offenses, breach of contract - ie: promising something only to renege on that promise without reason, explanation or conversation - pisses me off SO. MUCH. And frankly, it's a very foolish way to conduct business. I've never subscribed to the idea that "the customer is always right." There are plenty of customers who are wrong, who are jerky, who make insane demands...but when a customer CALLS IN ADVANCE with a special request, and THE OWNER makes a promise to honor that request, it's egregious for him to change his mind at the last minute. It's a bait-and-switch, especially when you're already seated, and it's much too late to change your plans. So, here's the scoop... For my son's 16th birthday celebration, I was desperate to find a reasonably-priced restaurant that had windows or a door to offer ventilation. I know it's wintertime and I know it's cold...which is why - when I remembered that Eddie's had a door to the outside in one corner of the restaurant, I thought they might be an ideal dinner spot IF they could accommodate my only request: that the door would be propped open for fresh air as we ate. The woman I spoke to over the phone was uncertain about this request, and told me she'd need to check with the owner to confirm. I told her it was a dealbreaker for me. She put me on hold. When she returned to the phone, her once-cautious tone was ebullient. "He said sure! Whatever you need! And feel free to bring a cake or cupcakes or even decorations! Whatever you want." With immense relief and huge amounts of gratitude, I made the reservation and looked forward to celebrating my son's 16th birthday in as safe a public setting as I could imagine. When I arrived at Eddie's this evening, pleased to see our two tables set beside the door, I reminded them of the agreement we'd made over the phone, and asked them to please prop open the door. I was met with immediate push-back from a waiter. "What? Who told you this was possible?" I explained that I'd called in advance and that the owner had been asked to honor my request and agreed. The waiter grudgingly (and hostilely) propped open the door with a booster seat. I urged our guests to sit down. Another diner seated 20-25' away from the door (who'd over listened to our conversation) marched into the kitchen to complain. Five minutes later, another man came out of the kitchen and closed the door. "Excuse me!" I said to the waiter. "That man just closed the door! We were promised it could stay open. Can I speak to the owner?" "That was the owner," he admitted, looking sheepish. "Without even a short conversation, the owner, who promised to keep the door cracked for fresh air, just shut the door?" The waiter shrugged. The owner hid in the kitchen. Listen... IMHO, the food at Eddie's isn't great, and, ergo, the dining room's never full, but I decided to make a reservation there because I needed a reasonably-priced place that would agree to my request for fresh air. Without the fresh air, all that's left is mediocre food for which you're not overcharged. Not a huge recommendation. Covid's a weird time. We're all scrambling to do what's right for ourselves and our families. Tensions run high. Sensibilities are more delicate. People are scared, desperately trying to find a semblance of normality in a time that's anything but normal. But you know what? Honor is honor. Giving your word still means something, at least to me. I didn't hold a gun to Eddie's head when I called over a week in advance and asked for fresh air; I made a request and he agreed to it. If he didn't want my business, he should have said no. "No. I'm sorry. I won't crack the door." Eight words. No big deal. I would have gone somewhere else. But he said yes. (Actually, he said: "Sure!") He said yes, and I was assured that there would be fresh air (a key to mitigating the spread of the virus, as per CDC guidelines) five feet from where we were dining. And then - despite my pleading and protest; despite my reminders of his promise - he closed the door. I will never, ever, ever go back.l read more

Honestly, this restaurant does it right. We have eaten in and taken out from Eddie's. The staff is incredibly kind and generous - one time, we are at the restaurant and the staff gifted our kids with some ice cream at the end of the meal. Tonight we tried Eddie's for the 1st time. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly. I had chicken piccata and my husband had miles davis pasta both my teens were with us and we all loved our food. The bread was delicious and was refilled as needed. I have given Eddie's so many chances. I love the location and it's proximity to The Prospector, and I love it's laid back cozy environment. The pizza is pretty good, as well as most of the food. But after last nights' visit, I have to say I won't be going back again. The reason is how slow the service is. I'm one of the most patient people you'll meet. So for me to be frustrated by slow service is saying a lot. Last night we were there for almost two hours. There were only two of us. We ordered two apps, a pizza and dessert. The wait in between all of it was ridiculous. And they weren't even busy! At least not inside the restaurant. I'm sure their take out business was very busy. But they had one waiter, the same guy that always waits on us. He saw my frustration after waiting for 25 minutes after asking for the check. He started to complain about the staff always leaving after the holidays. Sorry, I just didn't want to hear it. That shouldn't be the customers problem. Wow! Amazing ambiance and food. I bought the living social deal to try out this place and am so happy I did. I came with my boyfriend on a Thursday night. The cozy atmosphere was perfect.and the live jazz was great as well. The shrimp appetizer was beyond delicious and the pizza was very tasty. The only thing that lacked was the service. This place has really good food. I order for lunch all the time. The only problem which is pretty frustrating, is the person who answers the phone to take orders. She has no clue what's on the menu, or price on anything and is never helpful. It's unfortunate because the food is good, but calling to place an order is a disaster. Hopefully they can find someone who can communicate with customers and get orders in a better fashion. Would've given more stars if the experience with calling for take out wasn't so bad. read more

I used to love Piccolos. We used to go all the time and then they expanded into the next storefront and downhill it went. Service is extremely inconsistent and the food quality has taken a nosedive. Pizza is skimpy with minimal toppings. The last and final time we were there the majority of the pizza was crust. Two bites and the slice was done.
