I've been to several barbers in the Greater Los Angeles area, but Eddie's Edition in Pasadena is the only spot I keep going back to. So far I've had my hair cut by Jacob, Alex, and Daniel. Each of them are meticulous craftsmen with excellent attention to detail. Many places I've tried seem to only care about getting you in and out of the chair as quickly as possible, but not here. i typically don't do this, but this was the worst haircut experience i've had. i didn't get the haircut i asked for. it was extremely difficult to communicate what i wanted to my hairdresser. she spent more time blow drying my hair than actually cutting it. and when i asked for her to cut a little more off i received push back and she was like "no no too short." what? this is my haircut, please give me the haircut that i'm asking for and paying for... i literally had to go get another haircut somewhere else after this to fix it because it was so bad. i've never had to do that before. given that i had to go spend more money on another haircut because this one was so bad, i tried to call and speak to the manager since i didn't get what i asked for and left extremely dissatisfied. when you call the phone number, you only get an option to request a callback from the manager. i've called multiple times over the last 3 weeks and have never gotten a callback. EDIT: Bumping up from 1 star because they returned my call finally and agreed to refund me for the haircut. Thank you. read more

My stylist was Jacob and honestly coming to a salon after 8 years of going to barber shops is mind blowing. Very nice stylist and super friendly to talk to. The attention to detail he had and the genuine care he gave was that much better than the barbershop I been going to previously. Been coming here for over a year now, maybe every 2~3 months or so? I'm usually the type to ask for the "usual" cut that every individual has, but yet, every cut is personalized and unique to satisfy my every visit. Eddie is very skilled with his expertise and his other reviews truly do speak for the vast majority. He works meticulously, with care, and with great attention to details start to finish. Knowing how hard it can be to find "your" stylist (even for us, guys), one of the major reasons I go back is not just because of his sophistication and finesse, but as mentioned, it's his consistency of client satisfaction and quality of service. At the same time, he's versatile and always willing to work with what you may have in mind to get the cut that you want. Speaking to the guys out there (he specializes with women's cuts just as well), Eddie might be your next go-to stylist for your needs. Nearly 9 out of 10 times I'm looking for a new salon/stylist to go to, I get very hesitant because the majority of feedback are from women, making it really saturated (no offense, ladies!) to decide whether or not if you should make an appointment with that salon of choice. Eddie's the man--and the pictures and reviews don't do enough justice. Whether you're in town or in need of a one-stop-shop, take the time and consideration to shoot him a message. Overall: Fairly average cut with above average cost The Good: Eddie was great in arranging a time for me to come in during the week on short notice. He rents out a chair within the greater salon and was the only one there when I came in during the lunch hour. He came off as a nice guy and appeared capable. The Bad: Both the wash and cut were average with an above average cost. The cut I asked for was nothing out of the ordinary although the duration of the cut was faster than I had anticipated. Upon examining the cut after a wash at home, I am certain that I have experienced far superior cuts with more skillful and seasoned barbers/stylists. As a new community member here in Pasadena, I was nervous to try a new salon, but the pictures and reviews for Eddie's Edition looked promising. I booked an appointment with Gina and was politely greeted upon entering the studio. I have nothing but great things to say, she was attentive and thorough in understanding what style I wanted. Unfortunately this was not a great experience and I felt the need to leave a review. The haircut was rushed (even though I made an appointment) and clocked in at just around 30 minutes. From the moment I sat in the chair the stylist seemed completely flustered and rushed. I explained the haircut i wanted and how long it had been since my last hair cut, also offering to show pictures to show how I typically style my hair (they said that wasn't necessary). The fade was patchy (not blended well at all), uneven (higher on the left vs right), and length was way too short. I feel disappointed and although it's a fair price-point, would have expected a little more care and attention for $45 plus tip. It's always a gamble going to a new shop and trying a new stylist, and a perfect haircut is never guaranteed. But I was sorely disappointed in what was a rushed and careless haircut. First time paying $45 for a haircut but it was worth every dollar! I was a bit confused trying to find this place because I remember it being it across from Afters Ice Cream. The establishment I found across from Afters is called Reem Hair Atelier and Eddies Edition is actually inside! I guess they have some coexisting agreement or Eddie works for both businesses!? The area inside is what you would expect from a higher end men's hair salon. The music wasn't playing when I walked in but Eddie would later put on some chill pop music. One of my favorite parts about getting my haircut here is that it was just me and the barber. So if anyone has social anxiety about going to a barber this place is made for you! I arrived 10 min before my appointment and the previous person had just finished. I was able to get started early and showed Eddie a picture of my friends hair (straight hair slicked back) and I also told him my sides were a bit weird as they grew out diagonally. I felt Eddie listened attentively and kept this in mind as he cut my hair. I had some product in my hair so we went to go wash my hair first. After rinsing, he did the usual clipper treatment on the sides starting with a bigger guard then switching to a lower guard, leaving a bit of length near the middle of my hair. He said my hair has a lot of volume so he was going to texturize it. After texturizing the top, he said my last barber messed up and cut too much on my right side. I asked him if I could still style it like my friend but he said my hair is a bit curly and slicking it back would make my face too tall; he recommended that messy and side parts were the way to go for me. Cleary, Eddie knows his stuff! He washed my hair again and he held up cross sections using a comb and fixed any spots he missed. At most barbers, they wouldn't bother washing your hair again or going through your hair again but Eddie did! Overall, Eddie takes his time with the haircut - for $45 barbers need to do that!t - and I am very satisfied :) read more

Saw all the yelp reviews and was in very bad need of a haircut. Was easy to make an appointment through yelp, even had to push back the appointment time with no problems. Eddie is fast and efficient. Not much chit chat but I'm fine with that. Liked the overall results I will be coming back again. Location on the corner across from Afters ice cream station, and plenty of street parking. If you're a white male nearing middle age with thinning hair, don't even think about it! My boyfriend and I went in for hair cuts together - mine ended up ok, his ended up awful. When I made the appointment, I explained in detail my boyfriend's situation: he's 42 with blonde, already thin-to-medium texture hair with a large thinning patch on top. I even joked that if my balding boyfriend got another bad hair cut, he was going straight home after the cut and shaving his head. I told Eddie that if he did not have experience cutting this type of hair, please let me know so my boyfriend can go elsewhere, but that I would come in for my cut with him anyway. My cut was simple enough and turned out ok, but the price definitely wasn't worth the somewhat blah and basic cut I received. I wanted to keep my back-to-front asymmetry while growing out my former short cut. I ended over-paying for a super simple cut I probably could have gotten cheaper elsewhere. No harm, no foul, though. My boyfriend's cut, however, turned out horribly. He explained again about his balding/thinning hair on top and how he was trying to grow out the front and top to push back over the top of his head. He emphasized the words "growing out" several times. I think Eddie had no clue what to do with my boyfriend's hair, but he went on with the cut anyway. He cut off an inch or more from my boyfriend's entire head. He practically emphasized his balding spot with his short trim of the hair right around it. He even said during the cut that my boyfriend's hair was difficult to cut - which is exactly what he should have told me on the phone or at least before he began! My 42 year old boyfriend ended up with a sliced and shaved cut appropriate for a little boy, and the price was less than cheap. On the car ride home, my guy told me he wished he had just gone for an $8 hair cut at SuperCuts. Enough said. read more

I've been going to Supercuts essentially since birth. While everyone there who cut my hair is very friendly and nice, the quality of the cuts were really hit or miss, and most often being a miss.... So, I searched the google machine for men's hairstylists in Pasadena and clicked through them all. The Yelp reviews of Eddie sold me. I was on my way home from LAX last Thursday afternoon and called his number to see if he had any space. He had a cancellation, so he was able to see me. Eddie looked at my hair (a mop), asked me when I last had a haircut, and asked me what I usually asked for when I got a haircut. I even showed him a photo taken after I actually got a decent cut. Eddie took it from there. Put simply, it's hands down the best cut I've ever had. I have some wavey hair with some cowlicks and he paid a lot of attention to detail. My wife and kids even complimented my cut when I got home, which they never do! My highest recommendation. Will most assuredly be back. read more

The other reviewers are pretty spot on... he's got a calm (but happy) demeanor, and he's very meticulous. I walked in with the lifeless excuse of a mop that was growing out of my head, not entirely sure what would make it better ("It's just so.. blah! Every time I look in the mirror... BLAH"). Eddie knew what to do! He makes really good personal recommendations based on your style-- like other stylists have told me that I should be getting fringe bangs (yuck) cuz of my facial shape, but Eddie could tell that I wasn't a "cutesy" person and said I should get something "cool". So he gave me a cool, layered hair cut that I'm totally happy with. Now instead of "blehhh..." I go "Ooo!" when I look in the mirror. read more

I went to Eddie yesterday based on the positive reviews here, and the experience was great. I wasn't really sure what to do with my hair, I just wanted it shorter, so I asked him to do what he thought looked best. The result was great, and the trouble spots that other stylists normally trip up on (a cowlick here, a part that won't lay down there) he navigated flawlessly. Note: I'm Chinese. And so is my hair. That's how that works. I was also pleasantly surprised that he shampoo'd my hair, but as Eddie explained, the cut will look different afterwards so he needs to touch it up and reshape it after the wash. Eddie is my absolute favorite hair stylist. After never really being satisfied with my hair cuts I tried Eddie's Edition and I have gone here for the last 6 months (as of Feb 2018). I keep coming back because Eddie is very precise and consistent in his work and takes his time to make sure everything looks perfect and clean. He explained to me how to blow dry and style my hair in a way that frames my face nicely. The cuts are on the pricey side but you definitely get what you pay for. My cut usually takes about 30 minutes, including washing and styling. read more

Everyone pretty much said everything that needs to be said. It seems like Eddie just knows everything when it comes to hair. He listens to your request and gives you recommendations. The first time I came, he observed my facial structure and recommended a new style for me, which I was very nervous about because of past attempts from other stylists. Eddie knew how to handle my hair. I usually don't like wearing any product in my hair and therefore, can get pretty messy. I shower often because of my job and my hair gets dry and messy. First of all, wow. Eddie is amazing. I've been looking for a person who can cut straight coarse Asian hair for a long time and Eddie can do just that. Always believed that hair stylists are in the same categories as dentist, mechanics and doctors. People that you need to trust without a second of a doubt. Eddie falls into that category. He's been cutting my hair for the past year or two. It's good to not think about whether my sides are going to be too short or if my back is going to be too long. He has a good sense for telling you what style works for you and how it would compliment the shape of your face. Just because it's IN, doesn't mean it'll look good on you. Eddie gives great cuts--enough said. What ever "it" is, he's got it. I don't really have much to add to what other reviewers have already said about his ability to style and tame straight, stubbornly vertical hair. He's obviously very capable and able to adjust whatever style you're thinking of to look right on your head. Price is average; with the type of hair I've got, I usually get what I pay for. I've gotten more expensive cuts that looked worse, but have never gotten a cheaper cut that looked better. read more

Oh my goodness. To start, I'm very particular with who cuts my hair because I've had some horrific experiences. Especially since my hair is curly and for many stylist it's hard to cut. I heard about Eddie because my boyfriend has been getting his hair cut with him for about 6 months and I've been loving it. He leaves with exactly what he wants and feels amazing about his hair. I had a hair cut two months ago at some salon I won't name, and I left with my hair not looking like it changed much. I was pretty disappointed, so my boyfriend set an appointment for me with Eddie.
