I recently moved to Pasadena and was looking for a great barbershop to take care of my beard. I found Perfect Gentleman Salon and it was exactly what I was looking for. Sonia is now my regular barber and she's fantastic! I used to do my own beard, but now I'm here about twice a month. It's a Black-owned barbershop, but they cater to everyone. Great atmosphere, great energy, and if you're a guy who likes to get pampered a little, this is the place. I haven't done the full manicure/pedicure yet, but when I do, it'll be here. I feel bad because I really want to give a black owned establishment a higher mark but good Lord. It gets worse every time. We bring my son here because we're too lazy to find him a better barber. He's five. His hair doesn't need to be perfect. This place was recommended to us by another black family that we know from school, and I hoped that he could develop a bond with a black barber through his adolescence. I had that with the young lady who relaxed my hair and I loved it. I don't think he's had one black barber since we've started so that was a wash and this last truly tragic haircut might be the thing that makes us look elsewhere. I'm posting pictures of this one because it's really so bad. Every single time my husband takes him I brace myself for the tragedy that will come home - and I get it. It's on me for not doing the work to find him somewhere else to go but come on guys. And I know he's five but he sits still. Give him an iPad and a lollipop! He's happy! He doesn't get his iPad very often. We save it for these moments. He's chill! ...and yet! Look at this debacle. I hope you can tell from the photos how weird and lopsided it is. The fade starts in a weird place. It swoops down weird in the back . My husband even called the barber out for how weird and uneven it was and the barber insisted it was a textbook cut. Bro. This is ridiculous. I laugh because parenting requires so many decisions in a day and I don't have the bandwidth to find him a new barber. So we laugh instead of getting mad. FFS. read more

I recently visited Perfect Gentleman Salon for a haircut, beard trim and also a photoshoot for some newly updated pictures for my portfolio and I could not be happier with my experience. The entire team was incredibly professional, kind and very talented. Janelle set everything up along with styling me for the photoshoot and was able to curate my exact vibe. I felt like a celebrity the way she treated me. She hung up my clothes, steamed them, folded them and always had the next outfit ready when it was time for an outfit change. You can tell she really cares about your experience and comfort. She was amazing. Let's talk about the haircut/beard trim. 10/10 experience. Sofia took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and executed it perfectly. She was extremely friendly and gave me the whole treatment. Hot towels, shampoo, head massage. It was incredibly therapeutic. If you are looking for a great cut, go to Sofia. And lastly the photoshoot with Dorian was a breeze. It was so relaxed and he made me feel really comfortable in front of the camera. He's got such a talented eye for art and takes incredible photos. The place is great, very relaxed with cool music playing throughout. Reason for the 3 star is the barber I got really didn't listen to my needs or requests. This is my first time growing my beard and I asked for recommendations for a beard trim wasn't given any. He just got the trimmer and cut the hairs that were sticking up without shaping the beard or anything. I was disappointed since the website states about consultations and was not given any advise, recommendations or suggestions.
