I feel bad because I really want to give a black owned establishment a higher mark but good Lord. It gets worse every time. We bring my son here because we're too lazy to find him a better barber. He's five. His hair doesn't need to be perfect. This place was recommended to us by another black family that we know from school, and I hoped that he could develop a bond with a black barber through his adolescence. I had that with the young lady who relaxed my hair and I loved it. I don't think he's had one black barber since we've started so that was a wash and this last truly tragic haircut might be the thing that makes us look elsewhere. I'm posting pictures of this one because it's really so bad. Every single time my husband takes him I brace myself for the tragedy that will come home - and I get it. It's on me for not doing the work to find him somewhere else to go but come on guys. And I know he's five but he sits still. Give him an iPad and a lollipop! He's happy! He doesn't get his iPad very often. We save it for these moments. He's chill! ...and yet! Look at this debacle. I hope you can tell from the photos how weird and lopsided it is. The fade starts in a weird place. It swoops down weird in the back . My husband even called the barber out for how weird and uneven it was and the barber insisted it was a textbook cut. Bro. This is ridiculous. I laugh because parenting requires so many decisions in a day and I don't have the bandwidth to find him a new barber. So we laugh instead of getting mad. FFS. read more

His appointment was with AJ, who did a beautiful job with his cut. Even as it's grown out the cut has maintained its shape and still looks good. The cut is only one part of this review. The shop has an old school charm with a lot of warmth. As soon as we walked in we were warmly welcomed. They were busy, but that didn't stop the staff from being friendly and inviting. I recently visited Perfect Gentleman Salon for a haircut, beard trim and also a photoshoot for some newly updated pictures for my portfolio and I could not be happier with my experience. The entire team was incredibly professional, kind and very talented. Janelle set everything up along with styling me for the photoshoot and was able to curate my exact vibe. I felt like a celebrity the way she treated me. She hung up my clothes, steamed them, folded them and always had the next outfit ready when it was time for an outfit change. This is my first time growing my beard and I asked for recommendations for a beard trim wasn't given any. He just got the trimmer and cut the hairs that were sticking up without shaping the beard or anything. Second time writing a review in my 53 years. Not much on this planet has compelled me to review, but i think this is worth one. I brought my 14 year-old grandson while he was in town, for his Thanksgiving cut (luckily they knew what he was asking for because i was clueless to the teen terminology) while i received my usual executive shave (Heavenly). He was awestruck! He had never had anybody in his hometown pay him such detail while treating his textured hair. When i called him to ask how many stars he would rate his experience he said 7 out of 5.
