I have a very visible "No Soliciting" sign posted, yet EcoShield representatives have ignored it twice now. When I confronted the sales person about why they ignored the sign, they simply feigned ignorance. It's a transparent and dishonest tactic. If they can't follow a simple instruction posted on a front door, I certainly wouldn't trust them to handle chemicals around my home or honor the terms of a service contract. They clearly have zero respect for neighbors or potential customers who value their privacy. Then they returned again and were told sternly to leave, which they did. How about you to teach your sales agents to do better - they clearly know how to read but there's a poison in your business culture where you rather get a sale than alienate potential customers. This company has the worst salespeople. This is "Ebi", but he has given different names to different houses. Ebi has been knocking on doors after 8pm, which is illegal. When I told him it wasn't okay to be knocking on doors at 8:40 pm, he said it was fine and that he could do it if he wanted to. Ebi also continues to ignore the "no soliciting" signs, which is also illegal. Ebi will return to the same house multiple times after being told no and harras the homeowner. When I asked for his name and information, he refused to provide it, so I took a photo. When I told my sister about this and showed her the photo I added to this post, she said this was the same guy who had been harassing her and her fiancé. He went to her home three separate times. I live in Edmonds, and she is in Snohomish. Once again they have come through the neighborhood on their annual pestering, ignoring the NO SOLICITING sign directly under the doorbell, and not wearing the required city-issued permit badge for door to door sales (it's somehow always 'in the truck around the corner', and refusing to actually go and get it). If the employees are so illiterate that they can't understand a simple two-word sign I have serious doubts that they could possibly understand the MSDS or application instructions of any of the products they may be using. I spoke with a former employee a while back and this seems to be the company-approved tactics. Check their reviews and also have a look at the Better Business Bureau website reviews and comments before even considering signing their contract. There are dozens of complaints about their sales tactics, always with a canned cut-and-paste response (like this post is very likely to get) from someone in the company that never really addresses any of the actual issues raised. They never address the lack of permits or the (illegal in most jurisdictions) ignoring of NO SOLICITING and NO TRESPASSING signs, but will always ask that you contact them with 'more information'. Instead of asking the homeowners/renters for more information, why don't they just train their people to not break the law and ignore these signs? The only pests I need controlled are these door-to-door pests. read more

We thought we would give it a shot. I signed up for quarterly services for $180. They came out 1 time didn't even do what they said and charged me $226.00 twice 2 different charges in 1 day. Then I got another charge a month later for another $226 but with no service. So I'm now in the hole for $678 for 1 little spray around the house that didn't even do anything. That is not what I agreed upon or signed up for! I've called and emailed probably over a dozen times now with absolutely NO response. So I cancelled and disputed all my charges with my cc company. This company is a total scam like I said I wish I would have done my research before signing up to this. Will also be reporting to BBB! read more

We have had TWO people come to our door this week alone, walking past the FIVE "no soliciting" signs up our driveway and on our porch. The first guy came multiple times in one day, the last being around 7:30pm, which is ridiculous. He also made up some random "neighbor" that he was working with. The second guy, who came just now, actually mentioned the signs and chose to ignore them. This is trespassing and against Pierce County code. After using EcoShield for a year, I tried to postpone their service. I was unemployed and could not afford the cost at that moment. I informed them of that and asked them to postpone the service. I'd always scheduled at a time when I was available to meet them. They scheduled a day or two later at a time too early even to know they'd arrived. I just signed up for the pest control service and I gotta say I'm embarrassed that I fell for such an awful scam. The person that sold me the service said he was going to leave his personal number and I could call at any time if I had a problem. He never left a number, and I just discovered I have a problem with ants and rats. They said they could come out in a week for an inspection. Not a service call but an inspection. Just had a door to door salesman from this company shove his way through a locked gate at the end of my driveway. I keep my gate shut just for this reason. I don't want random people showing up at my house. Furthermore my dog is recovering from double knee surgery and the pounding on the front door caused her to wake up, pop up quickly from her bed and attempt to run to the front door. Thankfully I grabbed her before it was too late. I'm at the end of a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. Absolutely zero reason someone should break through my gate and pound on my front door. Came to our home, talked with our roommate and convinced them to sign a contract. Roommate was told that signing the contract would "secure the price" and that they had 3 business days to confirm if they wanted the service. We told our roommate that all contracts and services needed to be run through our landlord. Over the weekend, prior to the third business day, without an agreement to come to our property we were informed that someone came and completed a service. After we read through what our roommate signed we realized we were within the window to cancel and they were in multiple breaches of their own contract to come to our property: we didn't confirm time, we didn't confirm we wanted the service, we did not have the opportunity to bring our pets in (so they put our pets at risk - and their contract specifies that pets must be in for 24 hours). Roommate was able to cancel services via phone on the third business day. However, around 630PM one of their sales reps (Cody, who said he owns the business) came to our door and attempted to intimidate our housemate into a conversation about his cancelation. As our roommate is not the one who makes decisions for the house, my husband took over the conversation. It was unpleasant. These guys are bullys. Additionally: if they did a service, you can't tell. It starts out with the previous home owners name and then prices and who's the competition. No matter what I say the guys will not listen or go away like normal service providers. I've been in Rainier Beach for 5 years and they come with that same BS every year. I am sick of it. I wish I could file a formally complaint to the corporate office with video footage to prove how ridiculously aggressive they are. I don't want the service. Andrew did an inspection of our home today and found some things in the attic that surprised us. He took pictures of the rat or mice droppings and found some mold in places. He also went around the outside of the house to check. He found a couple areas where the roof vents had been pushed in where animals could crawl in. He took pictures. Then said he would need just about 10 minutes to do inspection and asking if i had the time for that. I then asked him, "so, you're contracted with (name of home/community builder)?" He said "no, we're not directly contracted with them, but the owner is friends with the home/builder/company that my house was built by"... Right there, i knew he was full of shit. Wouldn't give up his pitch and continued to try to get me to allow him to do a "free inspection"... I said, i'm not available for him to do it today. He asked, "all day, not available?" is said, no, all day. He then asked for tomorrow. I changed up questioning and just told him i'm not interested. He asked if it was the price or something? I said, kinda that and their whole system. Because I'm aware of how these companies operate. They try to get you to sign up for some quarterly contract and $xxx, with no way of getting out of it, should you not like the service. They solicited me at my house when I have a no soliciting sign at my front steps. I decided to sign up because I was told there was evidence I had "rodents" in my crawlspace area. I should have known better. They charged me greater than $200 for the service and a month later I didn't see one rodent in the trap. Looks like I don't have rodents after all. I called, emailed, and reached out to the salesman to cancel my monthly subscription (within 3 days as my right from the paperwork I signed) and the company came after me saying I owed $250 for a cancellation fee. I refused to pay it since I had already canceled. The service itself took 15-20 mins and the guys sprayed pest repellent and set a few traps in front of my crawlspace area and near my garage. $200 for that service was a rip off and no one even came back to clean up the traps or check to see how my service went. I even logged in to see if my profile was still active and it was null and then reactivated again after I sent an email asking to cancel the service. This company is a scam, they are door to door salesman who don't care if you're satisfied with the service, they just want to charge you a monthly subscription of $200 for basically nothing. Never again will I give the time of day to an unwanted solicitor! I refuse to go to collections for a bill I never should have received after canceling my service in the allotted time frame of their cancelation policy! read more

Right from the get go these people are absolute LIARS. The rep comes to your door claiming that him & his uncle are just starting a small pest control business. LIE. They promise you that they will get rid of your pest problem. LIES. There was a different technician every time they came. Not a single one of them knew that they were supposed to be handling a specific pest problem. I finally got sick & tired of explaining it to each person that showed up. They were only coming to do routine maintenance on the outside of the house. I don't blame the technicians, they were professional & just doing their job. No one told them that we had hired them to handle a specific problem. They pulled the "we need to check your crawl space" con on us as well. Had a guy come out & take some useless pictures from the outside of my crawl space. Pics didn't show anything but fallen insulation & the outside of a vent, that had no issues. Didn't even go into the crawl space. Scammer was pushy & annoying & had quoted me over $8,000 just to replace the fallen insulation or $15,000 to replace fallen insulation & seal up entry points. We were renting, no way in h*ll was I going to pay that ridiculous amount for that. I did it myself for less than $100. We also have tons of neighborhood cats that like to hang out around our house. We're not worried about mice. They wanted to do everything but the job they were hired to do. Shortly after that we got a call from our landlord telling us that they needed to sell the house. We weren't sure where we were going to be moving to & needed to save up as much money as possible in a short amount of time. I contacted them to cancel services & they were insistent that they could still provide us with service wherever we moved to within the u s. So much for the BS "my uncle & I are starting a small pest control business", lie. They just suspended our service for a bit & then started it back up. I contacted them again to cancel it, since we weren't sure if we were even going to find a place in time & thought we'd end up moving in with family for a while. They finally canceled services. By the grace of God we were able to buy our home. We have MULTIPLE big "NO SOLICITING" signs posted. Yet I still had another lying sales rep show up at my door claiming they had a referral for services from me. I would NEVER refer this company to ANYONE, so that was yet another lie/scam. A sales rep from this company, named Dylan or something similar, came to my home to advertise their services. They walked past two "no soliciting" signs and rang my ring doorbell. I did not answer. They then started banging on the side of my house very loudly. Not only were they extremely unprofessional, what they did is illegal. It is illegal to solicit at a private residence in King County with a "no soliciting" sign posted. I've reported them to the county for breaking this law. I would never want a pest company who breaks the law to regularly service my home. Before the company replies asking for my address so they can add it to their "do not contact list," no, I'm not giving you my address for you to store in some database of yours. After weeks, they offered to reschedule the next paid service to address the unresolved issue, which constitutes a breach of the contract. When you tell them you want to cancel the service, they threaten you with the hidden cancellation fee that the salesperson never mentioned.
