They either half ass their site visits or do not bother to look anywhere other than the area I called to complain about. One of their reps showed up on my property, blowing past TWO "NO SOLICITING" signs- the second one being right next to the Ring doorbell he pushed. "Do you see the NO SOLICITING signs, son?" asks I. He tells me he is not soliciting because he is here for future business (??!!) and that my neighbor directed him to my house. After clarifying the name of the neighbor, I immediately got her on the phone and had her on speaker. He had apparently harassed her, based on the litany of colorful adjectives she spewed describing him. I looked him dead in the eye and he attempted to offer another justification for breaking the town ordinance. I cut him off and told him that he had 5 seconds to beat feet and I was calling the police. With a wounded look he implored me to have "a better day." I NEVER do business with anyone who can not read to at least a second grade level, or any company that disregards town ordinances or MY time. I owned a pest control company years ago and had one employee who pulled this vacuum cleaner salesman routine and IMMEDIATELY terminated him. Proshield Pest Solutions came to my door last year and suggested that I switch to them - I was using Terminix at that time - because they were a "local" business. I agreed, , because I care about supporting local businesses, and was satisfied with their service - it was basically equivalent to Terminix' and it had the plus of being local. That was until last Friday, when their technician came to seal a few openings in my outer wall where pipes were coming in, to stop pests from entering from there. Before the technician's visit, they had offered me to do the job for $350. Having no idea how much work was involved with that, I accepted and signed the contract. The technician came last Friday and took exactly 25 minutes to seal four pipe openings in the wall with a bit of silicone. Thinking that $350 for 25 min's worth of manual labor, with essentially no materials involved, was outrageous, I protested and asked for the price to be reduced. After various calls and emails with no answer, I was able to get hold of someone who explained to me that they charge $350 for the first 5 openings, then $50 for each additional opening. I only have 4 openings, so even if I wanted I would not be able to take advantage of this very attractive (excuse my sarcasm) offer. After considerable back-&-forth, the guy offered to reduce my bill to $250, which remains absolutely outrageous, in my opinion. I proceeded to pay the bill, then canceled my subscription with them effective immediately, and I am going back to Terminix. read more

Door to door, fast talking and will say anything to get you to sign up. Get every single promise in writing! They promised mosquito control with mine, but sold me service that didn't have it. If they had just sold me the service I actually wanted all would be good. But instead they sold me an insect contract for insects I don't even have, claiming that mosquitoes would be handled too. Never had pest control before. Seems expensive IMO, even after the 'discount,' but I was assured the products they use are pest-friendly and very effective. Definitely reduced the amount of spiders, wasps, etc around the house. They were responsive to spot-treatments as well throughout the contract period--I had a few nasty wasps nests and I called them up and they took care of it right away. The quality of the service reps seemed to vary sometimes. Francisco and Esteban took their time and were very thorough in the service, making sure to clear cobwebs and spray in corners. A++. At least one other rep seemed to spray rather quickly and left some pretty obvious cobwebs IMO. Recommend being home during the service period. Overall worth it. read more

The salesperson was absolute IDIOT!! Josh was very unprofessional and rude. At times he appeared to be standoffish and postured himself as if he was going to try and escalate the situation to a potentially physical altercation. Josh wouldn't leave my property after being told multiple times that we weren't interested. I wouldn't even call it high pressure sales as what he was selling was absolute garbage and easy for me to refuse. He told me that I wasted an hour of his time after it was all said and done. If I could give a zero rating I would, however we honestly never used this service. My review is on the sales tactics taken by the gentleman who came to our house. My husband and I have been 50/50 on pest control services recently so we were interested in what the salesman had to say. I told the salesman that we would take his business card, discuss it, and contact them once we weighed our options and made a decision, but he would not leave [also, apparently he did not have business cards... what kind of business doesn't have business cards?]. He spent the next 30 minutes trying to convince us to use the service to which I continued to reply that we would take his information and contact them when we made our decision [I communicated this clearly at least 5 times]. Due to my firm stance, the salesman continued on to call me "feisty" [not a good sales tactic by the way]. At this point I was getting pretty frustrated that the salesman was not listening, and I asked my husband to try to communicate our stance to him. The salesman still would not leave!! He went so far as to tell us that he already had us signed up for our first appointment, and that we COULDN'T CANCEL IT!! First off - this is an extraordinarily desperate move, and second - what kind of company does not let you cancel an appointment?? At this point I was convinced that the service was too good to be true, either that or a total scam. Ultimately we told the salesman we would not be accepting his services, and he finally got the point and left. Although my husband and I were 50/50 on pest control services, we will 100% not be using Proshield Pest Solutions simply based on the annoyance and frustration of this experience. I wish I could give a zero rating. I have met a lot of door to door salesmen. I've heard all the pitches...but this guy...he was the worst of the worst. His name is Josh, he has a beard and reddish hair. At first he was nice as can be as he gave me his pitch, and told me about all my neighbors who have infestations in our brand new homes. I politely declined, and explained I was trying to take care of my children who were running around my feet. He was rude, continually moved onto the next pitch, went into my garage told me what was going to be infested soon. He even had the balls to tell me he's a local guy (he's obviously not), and that he's the only pest control guy with an agricultural degree. Don't try to sell me on your "local company" crap....I told him I would gladly take his card but that was apparently "in his truck." I have never been pushed so aggressively and he pushed me. At the end it was a standoff and I said okay, so I guess no card and he stormed away from me! Then turned around and said "sorry I'm not some college kid on a Segway." Tlhey lie to get you to sign on (one recently got my neighbor by telling them that I had rats and bed bugs, which I don't). After liking the initial sales pitch, I realized that the service missed spots and I had to have them come back twice to kill additional black widows that they somehow missed. They said it was a cycle, but we were into the third quarter by then. Why I highly recommend you drop them is I left them a message to NOT come at 6pm since I was not going to be home yet and I want to be there to spray garage and basement as well as outside...they came anyway but my wife was actually home at the time and no one rang the doorbell, we have a dog that always barks and there was a notice that they sprayed. No one saw a truck, no one came and that was just a few weeks ago, we have bugs and spiders all over, webs on our house and now a ton of baby black widows. Whoever the tech was, lied, he did not do his job. After a year of paying $500, I should not have a huge black widow problem still. I called the office and told them that the technician said he came out and didn't, they assured me he said he did, guess all the bugs tell me different. I had to have another technician come out, asked me where to spray...why is that my job, just treat the whole outside and look around...I hired you to be the pro, not me. If you miss a quarter, you go 6 months...big problems. I cancelled my service. read more

Service was not good the 3 times they came out (once a quarter) so I emailed and texted to cancel my service, they reply that I need to call in. When I called I spoke to Jason who was trying to remedy the situation by offering his personal assistance to come out to the house and provide the service, that was nice of him but I just wanted to cancel at this point. He then emails the "contract" I signed when we started the service and in fine print shows the 12m contract and I would be charged $125 if I cancelled before then. So poor service that I am paying for and then I have to pay to cancel with them as well. Would not recommend them at all, I should've done some more research before signing up with them. read more

I don't even know where to start. I feel like I would just be repeating almost every frustrated, upset customer on this review thread. This company sells you quickly on their services, but do not go through what you're actually signing up for. I've been told multiple times that I was lying which makes no sense because why would I be using internal company terms to identify what services I did not receive? I was not told that I would be signing up for any extended contract. I've had service three times, and have not seen any improvements. The initial service, the technician was here for 10 minutes and didn't even tell my wife that he left. The next day my son was stung twice by wasps which were supposed to be removed. I requested a special service, in which the technician did not inform us they were on their way. They were in the house for 10 minutes and did a partial service yet charged me the full amount for the service I requested. Why should one have to pay full price for a partial service? I've reached out to customer service multiple times and have only been given textbook responses and offered more poor service instead of just doing the right thing and offering me a refund. I've asked to no longer receive the service and was informed that I am in an agreement for a year. They kept my credit card on file without telling me that they would charge me. I find that any service that I've ever used, the service is done I agree it's up to par and then I pay. I have yet to have an experience where I've been happy with any service yet I'm just continuously charged. I've tried calling the local store and continue to get no information or support. Again, offered to come back to render more poor services. I've asked to speak to the local manager and at no point I received a call from this person. I've seen Douglas respond to many yelp reviews as you all have probably read as well. It's amazing to see a business owner respond to so many poor experiences yet not improve his service to eliminate these experiences moving forward. Must just be a poorly run business. I'm now debating if I just pay the $240 to get out of this agreement, or just simply let it run out the year and pay it when service (or lack there of) is rendered. I'm $700 in the hole with this company and at no point has anyone done anything but offer me more service. It's just disappointing that businesses continue to miss lead you and stay in business. I agree with all the one star reviews here as the experience we had is the same. They came door to door, was there a short time, we paid $75, wasp nests were missed but my husband signed a "Service Contract Review". Our mistake! On the review is a place that states this is a 12 month contract and if you cancel you are required to pay the amount that was discounted. Nowhere was it mentioned that amount is $400. Several days later we received a copy of the actual service contract via email. This contract states that our credit card will be automatically charged and had my husband's computerized initials next to it. The concerning thing is the signature at the bottom of the contract was NOT my husband's signature. This document was forged! I do not know if, when we signed the Service Contract Review, this gave them the right to forge the signature on the actual contract. I do not even know if that is legal, but I will guarantee we are looking into this. They did not go over the discounted amount. They did not go over the contract amount. They did not take care of the pests. Unfortunately, my husband did initial and sign the review. I did talk to a manager and was assured he would look into this and call me back today. We will see how this works out. UPDATE: The manager talked with my husband and I received an email stating that our contract has been cancelled. He assured my husband we will not be charged for the discount amount. I am happy that the manager took care of us. read more

Salesman came to the door when I was looking for a new company. Told him I thought rates were high but he told me I didn't have to stay the two years. Well here I am trying to cancel because I can't afford their prices and they are charging me a huge cancellation fee. Ugh!!! Service is no different then orkin was and they are half the price. One service they told me I had a dead rat in the garage they could smell it. I kept telling him no it was the smell of the trash can in the garage. I had the same experience as other people with this company they came to my door they claimed that they had two or three cancellations and that if they didn't use the product they would have to throw it away he offered me a deal it didn't no at the time that I was signing up for a contract. Also he told me they would be spraying my whole house inside and out my yard and my fence he told me he would be doing it himself then about an hour and a half later two different guys show up they sprayed around the outside of my house and they sprayed some of the inside of my house they didn't spray in the basement and when I asked him if he did he lied to me and said that he didn't they also did not spray the yard or around my fence like they said they would. Honestly this company is a shady company with horrible sales tactics and horrible customer service I have tried calling them multiple times with no response back. Scam! A 'tech' came to the door soliciting service, my mother was the one to answer the door and decided to hear him out. The offer sounded interesting to her so she asked for a business card only to have the guy tell her they don't have them due to COVID, understandable. So instead she gave her email just expecting offers and basic newsletter stuff only to receive an email about joining as a new member and that she has a contract with them. She never signed anything and the "company" actually forged her signing a contract with them which there was no mention of in the sales pitch. A quick search online will find a slew of Better Business complaints and these matching bad reviews here. We've now called their customer service that basically said there's nothing they can do. Save the headache and avoid them like the plague, if you somehow still get caught up in their mess bite the bullet and immediately start the process for legal action with the State Attorney. read more

After kindly declining the salesman's offer he continued to badger me he walked right into my garage and proceeded to tell me that I had an infestation. After explaining to the Salesman that I had a company that I was extremely happy with He proceeded to badmouth my current company. As I kindly declined again and asked him to leave, he gave me a big song and dance about how he is just trying to put himself through college and that he was here working during the summer so that he would not have to go into massive school debt. When I finally asked him about pricing it turns out that he was more than double what I was currently paying. On top of that he was trying to rope me into a three-year contract. I was tricked into a contract. They said all the homes around me had just been sprayed and all the bugs would come to my home. I talked with my neighbors after they sprayed and none of them had. Plus they go over the contract so fast and they make it seem as you can cancel at anytime with no additional fees but no you have to pay $200. Plus when you call you can never reach them. I have never been so unsatisfied with a company. I pretended not to be home when they came back to spray and have a picture of them pulling up at 8 a.m. and leaving my house at 8:10.
