After a long drive from Whittier, California to Hearst Castle, we decided to stay the night in…read moreSalinas so we could visit Monterey the next day. We're so glad we chose Hampton Inn & Suites! From the moment we arrived, the two ladies at the front desk were incredibly personable, respectful, and welcoming--exactly what we needed after a long trip. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, which made for a relaxing night's rest. In the morning, we had breakfast at the hotel and were pleasantly surprised. The area was spotless and everything was fresh and delicious. Overall, it was a great experience. We definitely recommend this location for anyone traveling through the area!

The I waited for check in, in a Teams Meeting in the lobby. I did request to talk to someone else and someone else came, and she explained because there are lits of homelesses in the area. But once guests received keys, they can come in and goes by swiping their keys. Free bfast. Love that. Gym and laundry are ok. Laundry coin only. Pool is square so it was a bit challenging to swim for exercise. Location next to fwy, and Starbucks is next door. Lots of construction areas around. Areas surroundings are pretty concerning. I stopped by Vallarta supermarket and love it, i was able to buy food for three days. Room is decent. Its called suite but doesnt have couch. Work space yes, microwave and fridge yes. Coffees in the lobby seemed available 24/7. Monterey is about 30 minutes from here, will try that area next time, or Morro Bay.

They were clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. One thing I found odd was the setup with the **Courtyard and Residence Inn being right next to each other**. The biggest issue for me was the pool. The Courtyard itself does not have a pool, so I had to walk all the way over to the Residence Inn to use theirs. What made this more frustrating is that the Marriott app advertises the Courtyard as having a pool, which can be misleading when booking. Because of that, I'd rate the overall ambiance **6/10**, despite the hotel having a nice lounge area with plenty of seating. Another issue was the breakfast. I always book my hotel rooms with **breakfast for two**, and I specifically select the package for two rather than the package for one. I've stayed at multiple Courtyard locations with Bistro/Starbucks setups, and this was the first time I wasn't given any breakfast vouchers. I actually had to argue with the staff to receive the breakfast for two that I had already paid for. There are separate packages for breakfast for one and breakfast for two, so I don't think this should have been something I needed to argue about at the front desk. It was an unnecessary inconvenience. The service overall was okay, but there was definitely room for improvement. I'd rate the service **7/10**. Most of my interactions were fine, but the breakfast situation really took away from the experience. Overall, I think this is a good hotel with **nice rooms, a great location, and a comfortable lounge area**, but I would recommend double-checking the pool situation and your breakfast package before booking. I'd consider staying here again, but I'd hope the issues with the advertised pool and breakfast vouchers are addressed.

The front desk is kinda small if you didn't enter from the entrance. You can go to the indoor pool in the hotel next door. When I booked the hotel room it says it comes with breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids. Somehow the booking only showed 1 adult. The front desk said they would check on it and didn't get back. When I checked again, the front desk gave ridiculous reasons (room cost more for 2 adults 2 child rather than 1 adult!?!?) and said would up charge me if they were to comp the breakfast. They eventually included the said breakfast after long conversations. Breakfast was good tho. Not much option but everything tasted good. The muffin was warm and the breakfast burger has bacon and avocado.

The front desk explained that they had breakfast available from 7-10am, a pool and vending machines. Parking was easily accessible. Additional parking available as well. The room was tidy. Another problem was the 2 properties share a parking lot and there isn't room for large rigs so 2 mornings in a row there was construction equipment being loaded and loud trucks started. I will try to request a room on the other side next time. Still a good/safe option for Salinas

As others have noted, the stairs are a bit steep but we had no issues with it. The downside of the property is that it feels quite impersonal. You check in like you would at an AirBnB rental. There is ostensibly an innkeeper on site but we never met (nor needed) them. There were also some difficulties getting our reservation payment process finalized. Even though we reserved via Booking.com, the property uses their own system and the information did not coordinate well. It took multiple messages back and forth with a remote service center before things got squared away. Knowing what i know now, I would just book direct if the rates aligned. BOTTOM LINE: A nice choice at a memorable but slightly quirky property. We would stay here again.

Is it perfect ? No but I would stay here again, yes... no issues. Yes, in and out burger and Mc Donald's is a few doors down, but never did it give us an issues. Yes there is homeless in the area but very few and not in the hotel range. The room is great and I don't see any man problems with it. The one and only eye I think that could be an issue is the walls are definitely thin. The hotel is about 8 to 12 minutes away from the soccer fields. Has a decent breakfast with coffee, juice, breakfast, sandwiches, danishes, waffles, fruit, cereal etc. I was torn about staying here but all the local hotels had low stars. In the end, this place was perfect for a weekend of ultimate frisbee And In and out burger was great to walk to Enjoy

Mistakes can happen, but what was most disappointing was that the receptionist didn't apologize and simply reassigned us to another room. The second room wasn't much better. It was warm because the air conditioner barely cooled the room. The microwave and refrigerator were old, the shower had very low water pressure, and the body wash dispenser was almost empty when we checked in. Overall, the room was in poor condition--not even what I would consider acceptable. The complimentary breakfast was also disappointing. It only included toast, coffee, cereal, Danish pastries, and yogurt as the only protein option, with very limited variety. The front desk staff didn't seem welcoming or happy to assist guests. There also appeared to be too few staff members, resulting in long lines at check-in. Instead of feeling welcomed, it felt like guests were an inconvenience. I wasn't expecting five-star service--I simply wanted to feel comfortable and at home while away from home. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst motel experiences I've had. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend staying here.
