I have been coming to Eco Coffee whenever I'm in the area. Instead of supporting box companies like Starbucks, Coffee Bean or Peet's, I like to spend it at small cafe businesses. This is a hidden gem in the area near Long Beach City College. When you enter, you'll see local artworks on the wall, while listening to reggae music playing. The cafe is very cozy to hangout to study or read quietly. The best thing about Eco Coffee is Peter, the owner recommends the variety of personalized hot or cold beverages. I have ordered through his suggestions... Mayan Mocha, Mint Mocha, Banana Mocha and London Fog Latte. With these suggestions, all are very good and delicious. My favorite is the Mayan Mocha with a cayenne kick... but order it hot. And then close second is the Banana Mocha with a slight banana flavor... but order it cold. The owners are the sweetest. Pete knows his drinks and will match the milk to the flavors if you let him. Anytime I look for something he knows exactly what I'm craving. I'm not a coffee drinker yet he recommended the Horchata Latte with Coconut milk. It was so good I got hooked. Then I was looking for something different. Love this place. Been coming here for upwards of 10 years. The mint mocha is the way to go. The espresso used here is excellent. Very tasty, very smooth, always gets me cranked up. The date smoothy is absolutely divine. Very small area to hang, but the artwork is cool to look at. Peter, the owner is such a chill dude. Very nice and welcoming. He often hosts beach clean ups which I have participated in, and it's always a good time to give back and "eco coffee" living up to its name. It's a quaint area where Long Beach and Lakewood intersect. The sweet Viking Village is a fun place to walk around and go about with your coffee if you'd rather walk and sip. Highly recommend walking to Once Read Books for a sip and read. (They do allow you to bring in a drink, just be mindful of not dropping it)! My only complaint are the prices. They're a bit on the overpriced side of coffee shops. It's a sweet treat every great once and awhile, but I couldn't afford to make this my go to on the daily. I ordered the Lovely Date smoothie and it was really delicious. Such a unique flavor, loved the dates with the combination of the espresso beans and nice large portion filled all the way to the top!. I read the reviews & i was a little skeptical but when I walked in there's just one barista he was really nice & we had a nice conversation. As per the drink it was SOOOO good. Stopped by this little shop , looking for a bagel after 2pm LOL it's pretty hard to get one at a coffee shop after a certain time frame . They had this amazing egg avocado bagel ! I'm a bagel fanatic so I def was impressed the egg was cooked perfectly, avocado was fresh, had it on a sun dried tomato bagel *chefs kiss*. So far I've been here twice , both times the ambience was nice & calm (lights super dim) , workers were nice & tended to me quickly. Ya know that place you pass by all the time, say you will stop in one day and at least a year later finally make it in. Yep, this is that place for me. Not sure why I waited so long. I think it's because I didn't realize there was a parking lot for convenience. Opps...But, now I can add this little spot to the mix. Unique drinks, friendly employees, chill and inviting ambiance and most importantly the number of "regulars" who were there. How do I know? I've been here twice with the same person working the register, and both times she was leaning on the counter and just, idk, was super cold and not welcoming at all. I don't want to exaggerate but she really put on a stank face when we walked in, and it went away the second she turned around to joke around with coworkers. I've never had anything with lavender in my coffee because it makes me nervous BUT I said "fuck it we ball"... best decision ever (-: I'm blushing. I really am. The lavender isn't tooo overpowering and honestly refreshing. I will give them this....their coffee and drinks are really good. The problem is the hours. They seem to be very loose with the opening and closing times. They either open at 7 or 8 am depending on the day. They close at 5 except for Sunday (11 am close). I have been here several times during their posted hours only to find them closed. Firstly note that I love to support local businesses. EcoCoffee doesn't open until 7am weekdays, so I only weekends- when I'm around - to go there. But that said, today's orders and long wait time were worth writing about. - The vegan date/coffee bean/cold brew smoothie was heavenly. No problem there. My hubby's almond latte was equally good. But firstly we noted they had 3 people working - a good sign. We saw two people outside waiting for their orders - not always a bad thing. But we ordered, we tipped when we paid (20%; we're not peasants, after all). But we had to wait outside. For almost 24 minutes. And it took 15 minutes for the two ladies waiting to get their coffee drinks and breakfast sandwiches. 20 minutes for the guy waiting for his coffee drink and breakfast sandwich.... I stuck my head in and asked how much longer? 7-10 more minutes he said - i said that it seemed a long time to wait for coffee drinks (!). Yeah, I gotta time limit for these sorta things. The health-issue though, reared its head. The guy working - nice looking, true, but still- decided his face mask was more optional than a requirement. That was worth complaining about. Look, I get it. I, too, can't wait for the day we can burn these things in a bonfire! But guess what? The Covid-19 thingy ain't going away - so if you're gonna work in a coffee bar? Then own the mask, learn to emote with your eyebrows (ala Spock) and then- for heaven's sake- move faster, please, when making coffee drinks. It ain't rocket science - yet. read more

Good coffee/drinks and I purchased the immunity concoction ($22 but hoping it will not disappoint). The ambiance and on the other hand was less than optimal. Very uncomfortable around the several men that came in, seemed somewhat transient and very disruptive/loud. One had a 12 pack of alcohol and on the patio and just stared at my friend and I so went went inside but then others came inside and it just wasn't very relaxing as he's asking me about my jewelry and religious beliefs. One of my favorite local independent coffee shops. They have quality coffee, tea and smoothies with some organic options. My favorite is to order their avocado & egg bagel sandwich which has cream cheese. They use fresh bagels from a local bakery and have vegan donuts which I love even though I'm not vegan. I think they are baked instead of fried and smaller so it feels guilt free. Came today and I see they added nice planters to the patio and there's big umbrellas to block the sun. The owner and staff are really good people and I loved sitting inside when they were fully open. There's free WiFi too read more

I have been here numerous times, and never had a bad experience. It is a very small business with just a few tables, but the service here is great. The staff is very friendly, and they even go out of their way to ask how your day is and converse with you. That is not common these days. I kind of get a 60's feel when I come in here . I have only ordered the blended frappes here, but they have numerous coffees, iced drinks, blended drinks, smoothies, teas, etc. They even offer other milks such as soy or almond with a .50 cent upcharge. I have had the banana mocha, (I do believe that is one drink that I had iced and not blended) the cookies and cream, the neapolitan, and my husband has had their white mocha a few times in which I tried. I found them all to be yummy. My favorite one is the neapolitan, so it has been my choice most of the time on my last few visits. I personally have not seen it as a blended drink anywhere else either. I'm not sure where it all applies but the drink is a strawberry and there is a load of chocolate or fudge on the side which adds the chocolate to it. I'm not sure where the vanilla comes in but it's either in there or the whipped cream comes into play. Either way, I don't care. I love it. Pricing is not bad. It's a little cheaper than a lot of places which is good. They also have a cash back rewards program that sends you some cash back periodically during purchases. I hope that they stick around for a long time. Good drinks, and they appreciate their customers. They seem to have good business so gives me hopes on that aspect. I discovered this place a few weeks back while driving past the area and after reading some reviews and doing a bit of research about some of the various drinks they offer I knew me and my wife needed to check it out. After eating in Downey earlier in the afternoon we decided to make a special trip over here to try the Banana Mocha drink. I am not a coffee drinker and usually reserve myself to the ice blended non-coffee varieties but being a huge fan of banana this was something I had to try. The drink to me, lived up to my expectations and really made me open my eyes a bit more to the standard iced mocha variety of drinks. Although the banana flavor was not as strong and dominate as I hoped for you could definitely taste it in the drink. We even got free samples of different muffins that were being offered by the staff (very cool). The staff here was very kind and courteous and even struck up small talk with us as we waited. It is great to see coffee baristas who enjoy their work and getting to know their customers. Eco Coffee appears to have a great variety of drinks to choose from and a fairly regular clientele. Although the place lacks a bit in size, the setup is quite nice and cozy and more than efficient for a couple of people looking for a quiet place to study or just hang out. These are exactly the type of small coffee shops I look to seek out and frequent going forward. Yes, Starbucks are nice to visit for drinks and the conveniency, but these small shops are the ones I prefer giving my business too. Eco Coffee prides themselves in offering a green product and really building their own carbon footprint in this ever-evolving business. I needed a place to get work done. Seeing the reviews here, this seemed like the place to be. Here's my experience during a late summer Thursday afternoon. Ambiance: Parking | Plenty of parking but all timed (30 min-2hrs) since it's a strip of small town businesses. Seating | There's some outside seating for about 8-12 people. The inside is pretty cozy as there's room for about 8-10 people. Feels | The surrounding is pretty neat. There are local shops around the area to window shop or to sit and people watch. There is a community college right around the corner so things can get packed. The aesthetics of the area is unique and hip. There's local art and very random decor. The folk music sets a good tone for studying or catching up with a friend. Food: Mint Frost (Recommend) Well blended and a good balance of chocolate. It was a soothing drink that provided a good mint kick. Service: The gentlemen that served me was polite and quick with the order. I enjoyed the brief small talk we had. TL;DR 4 stars. I am digging this place. Parking wasn't complicated, my drink was delicious, price was about right, and the service was pleasant. I liked the local feel and the intimacy. The vibes here, immaculate!!!!! Stopped by on a whim after spotting it as I drove down Carson-- and whoa, did not realize how small the interior was! Even so, there was ample seating, cute comfy couches, tables with chairs, etc. I ordered the Mayan mocha latte, and the barista who took my order was so nice and accommodating when I asked him to make it on the less-sweet side. The drink did the job, and I enjoyed some time in the shop while getting some remote work done. No AC but the breeze from the open doors was great, and wifi connection was strong. I ordered 3 bagels with egg/avocado/cheese and for some weird reason, they all tasted extra salty and lemony. Specifically, the egg. I do not understand how this place is rated so high. First look, it's kind of cute. Was not greeted by anyone for the first 20 minutes because the barista was in the bathroom...THE WHOLE TIME. We were even able to make a joke about how we can just go back there and make the coffee ourselves because EVERYTHING was unattended. The barista comes back and he washes his hands again (clean I guess) but then uses the napkins for the customers by reaching over the bar (perhaps stock all sinks with napkins so he does t have to reach over the counter and get all the other customer napkins wet. While making our order he gets this huge coughing fit and says "I have a little tickle" while proceeding to cough out a lung in his elbow. He takes a whole 20 minutes to also prep our order while there was no one in line. (I was a barista at Starbucks. It doesn't take this long to make lattes). He then goes out and smokes RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE STORE. (Is there not a certain amount of feet away you're supposed to be away from a storefront to smoke?) Someone made a comment about how maybe that's why he has "that little tickle" in his throat. Also while on his smoke break he proceeds to pet a dog walking by (maybe not the best thing to do while on the job). Another customer walks in while he's on his smoke break. He doesn't even stand up and greet them or say anything. The customer walks in waits for 5 minutes. As she's walking out we say "I think he's over there" around the corner of the outside where he has a clear view of anyone coming in. Very unprofessional. Definitely not clean. Thanks for also passing on that "tickle in [your] throat". Ordered a horchata latte with soy. He didn't give me soy milk (thanks. I'm lactose intolerant). Also didn't taste like it at all. This is a cute small cafe. I dropped in before work to get my caffeine fix. I got the horchata latte and it was good! It was a nice balance of horchata and coffee. They have fresh Portos pastries in the morning! I got a guava cheese roll and cheese ball. I had initially asked for a potato ball, so that's what I was charged for. He later saw that they didn't have any potato balls the box and asked if I would like a cheese ball instead. I said yes to save myself from the hassle of the refund. I wish they had a list of costs for the pastries, so I don't blindly purchase them. I felt like they were up charged a bit, but at least I don't have to wait in line for them. read more
