We initially received a quote of around $3,600 for a gas-to-gas replacement from one of the larger companies, which felt a little painful. I called David, explained the situation, and he was able to give me a quote over the phone for a little under $2,000. He came out the very next day, removed the old water heater, installed the new one, and had everything up and running quickly. Not only do we have hot water again, but the entire area looks much cleaner and tidier than it did before he arrived. David was friendly, efficient, and straightforward throughout the entire process. It was nice to work with someone who specializes in water heaters, charges a reasonable and honest price, and gets the job done without turning it into a bigger production than necessary. Overall, 100% recommend Nothing But Water Heaters if your water heater decides to give up on life.

He was here months ago as as we have a zone system splitting the house. This adds some nuance to the overall system. And on que, Aiden came in with sleeves rolled up. He is well trained and very intuitive. That's a compelling combination. Most owners of companies would steal to find a talent like him. Without sharing all the details and many hours of discovery, he really did not find something obvious. Yet he performed many checks of the system and did a few tweaks as the backyard was heating up for one of our first warmer weeks. Donald did a good job at a reasonable price replacing an angle stop valve for the supply line for…read moremy toilet. It was a nightmare situation as a previous contractor broke it and left me abandoned and my main water supply wouldn't turn off so I could literally not sleep for 24 hours as I had to empty a bowl every 30 to 60 minutes (the supply valve is low so it would not accommodate anything larger underneath) or it would flood and ruin the new flooring that was just installed. It did ruin my face board that I had just had installed the day before. He kept blaming me saying by turning the giant nut I somehow ruined the pipe which I don't understand but I did everything to try and loosen the bolt and I found no special instructions or tool that specified one as a necessity to use on it in all my research or that I had done anything wrong, but it had been there for 30 years and was fused on tight and wouldn't budge even with two vise grips, and with the flooding happening I was desperate to get it removed so I thought that continuous commentary was strange. He also said I had to loosen that nut clockwise as if it were reversely threaded but was told the opposite multiple times in my research so again I'm very confused. If something had been critically missed I wish he would've at least told me. I didn't see how he removed it. He walked off with my channel locks which I informed him of immediately but luckily he changed his mind and returned them before I had to leave the next day after he first said he couldn't. I had been thru two days of hell from the previous contractor with 8 hours sleep over three nights. But he did the job and it took him no more than 15 to 20 minutes. There's a really big gash in my wall now where the valve is but I guess he had to do that to cut the pipe. I will have to find a wall cover plate or something to hide it.

Turns out that he didn't used a grounded nut or ox-Gard, which are standard when combining metals. Basic water heater install 101 but failing to do it could have cause a fire in my home! He ordered all new parts from the manufacturer as it was under warranty for parts and they refused to ship them without proof (has this happened before?!??!). I ended up without water for 4 days and missed time away from work. Sure he's friendly, and he did cover the cost for another technician to spot and repair his error (minus $2 venmo fee) BUT my personal opinion is that he runs this "error" to bilk people out of $185 -- because labor is not covered on the warranty -- to repair operational heaters while he pockets the parts and scams manufacturers. When I tried to get him to compensate me for my inconvenience, he accused me of "strong arming" him. Find another plumber, this one is either incompetent or a crook.

Beware! Appears that this "locally owned company" was purchased by a private equity group (Flint…read moreGroup is the platform company with General Atlantic being the private equity firm). We ultimately paid way too much for a basic 50 gallon hot water heater swap (bundled price of almost $3000). I was out of town and my wife was busy with work when this happened. We had used Bumble Bee Plumbing in the past and trusted them. That trust has been broken and will never return. My wife left a Google review. There was a response posted as "response from the owner" which left a phone number of 602-813-0298 to call so we could speak with their "manager" to address our concerns. I tried to call that number twice...it's been disconnected! Do your research, get multiple bids and verify that the company you are calling is truly LOCALLY OWNED and has not been rolled up under some private equity structure. We have all seen countless stories about how private equity could care less about the customer and how they leave a trail of destruction and debt in the end. It's largely about profits, margins and EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization). This is the valuation metric that's referenced (with a multiple applied) when they sell. In most cases, that's ultimately ALL PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS CARE ABOUT! It's a sad yet not surprising story on the fleecing of America! All I can say about Bumble Bee Plumbing is my experience was very different this time and it appears that since my last time using them, private equity has gotten involved. I'll let you draw your own conclusions! Would love to see a customer advocacy/awareness story on one of the local news affiliates about how private equity has consolidated so many previously locally owned trade businesses (plumbing, HVAC, electrical). This might be a good starting point for that type of story.
