I received an estimate shortly after the visit and a plumber arrived the following day. He performed maintainance on the instant water heater and changed out my old rusting bathroom sink faucets along with the old pipes under the double sink cabinet. The shut off valves no longer turned. Grateful, I had the work done prior to needing to turn off the water, if they sprung a water leak or faucet dripping. Quick and most efficient Merit has done other work in the past 3 years and is my go to plumber. read more

Stay far away from this company. I hired them to install a whole home filtration/softener system, UVfilter, flo by moen, and RO system, trying to help a small growing business. It was a big mistake, they where way out of their league. They had to make multiple trips, did damage to my home and appliances, took months to do what would have taken a few days. They kept saying it was manufacture defects... after 6 months and the 4th time it was not installed correctly, two times causing water damage it was clear they did not know what they were doing. Breaking my water heater from having to move it multiple times due to their errors I was very frustrated. They took the a $1000 UV heavy flow filter they broke, saying there going to replace it with a new one that was 9 months ago they don't return calls or emails. So they have cost my family thousands, and we still don't have the UV filter we paid for. When I filed a claim with the insurance company for damages, after not hearing from them for 6 months. The owner found my business online and left fake reviews, as if he did not hurt my family of 5 enough he went after my business to. I would highly recommend avoiding this company it will give you heart burn. read more

I had a bad experience with another plumbing company after I requested to get a second estimate. I called Merit plumbing and left a message regarding my situation after hours. They actually called me back and stated they could help me and not to worry. They sent Donnie out the next morning. He was though and informative. He answered all my questions happily. Even let me watch the camera. He explained all scenarios and was honest. At the end of the visit. he even offered to reset my toilet after the other company stated they didn't have the parts and they were running behind. The bill was though and easy to understand and most of all reasonable. I highly encourage this company thus far and will give update of work completed. Thank you Merit. It's so sad that I have to write this review. We had worked with these guys before, and had spent around $3,000 for good work. So we of course turned to them when we got a new house. We paid around $250 to have the plumbing checked out including the main sewer line (they even gave us a DVD), and noted that one of the bath tubs did not drain. Our realtor was present, and we asked why it didn't drain. "Well the cord that holds the internal stopper feels like it's not connected, that's all" We called it good, bought the house, then I took apart the drain mechanism and found that everything appeared in working order. Called them back out and after cutting a hole in the wall, they announced that the P trap was rusted and the pipe was clogged, hence no draining of water. Repair would entail pulling out the toilet, removing floor tiles, and jackhammering through concrete to get at the pipes. Basically, an incredibly more complicated repair. My wife stated, quite reasonably, that since they inspected the plumbing and called it good while assuming that the clogged tub would be an easy fix without actually investigating, we wanted to think about proceeding with the repair. They had not begun work; only turned off the toilet water. So a few days later I hear the doorbell ring and they are back and ready to go- though we had not called them. My wife then asked Mike (owner) to come out and discuss the situation, but no one showed up to our house at the agreed time and when she called he was quite defensive and didn't "want to waste any more gas driving out there". He was very evasive and seemed to not agree that his company had even been out to camera our sewer line. I have the cashed check and DVD to prove this. What would have been appropriate and reasonable (and made us quite happy) is if he would have said yes, we should have looked into the drain issue more thoroughly before calling it good- as you paid for an inspection and closed on the house with our advice that it was a simple fix when in fact it turned out to be a major project- here's a 10% discount, but instead we were met with defensive comments about him not wanting to "waste gas", and denying that he inspected the house at all We had another company come out and they quoted us $2-5,000... ugh. So with the help of a very handy friend we were able to remove tiles without breaking them and cut a small hole in the concrete exposing an intact P trap that was totally filled with rocks and dirt. Finally everything works! Being treated this way by Merit was shocking, absolutely unacceptable, and downright shady. As such, we are looking into how to report them to their board and complain with the BBB. read more

I used Merritt for a remodeling but the knowledge of the plumbers was not as good as I expected,they came back twice to correct items,the last time they said it was a defective valve but I did the repair by reversing the cartridge in the value to get hot water on left and cold on right. My tankless hot water heater broke yesterday, and the makers of the unit (Rinnai) suggested Merit Plumbing to diagnose and repair it. I called Merit, a bit panicky, and asked to schedule an appointment. The receptionist (Xandria) initially offered a visit the next day, but when I explained my desperation and my location, she offered to consult with her technicians to see who might be in my area for a same day appointment. She successfully scheduled me in, and I had hot water in time to shower for my birthday dinner!! They have a guy named Javier T. Who did some under slab work for us in the kitchen. Got everything all done and after installing valves we found out there is no hot water. We have asked them several times to come out to help us figure out what the problem is which he agreed to but blew us off on all 5 appointments and now will not answer or return calls. We are now getting a new plumber and our attorney involved. Just wish people would just own up to their mistakes and help fix shit... Instead they want to try and hide. read more

Here are my responses to Michael D's ridiculous rebuttal, with a trimmed down version of my original review below them. His responses further show how they are trying to blame me for needing 5 visits to accomplish basic plumbing tasks with all brand new (NOT CHEAP, as he likes to assume) parts. Very classy for the owner to accuse ME of taking advantage of HIM. Unbelievable. BEWARE, and please try any of the other better companies out there. 1. Michael D was never once at our house. 2. ALL THREE sinks that Merit worked on leaked, multiple times, but thanks for calling me a liar. ALL THREE sinks had the original parts that your company chose to install replaced by your company with different parts on the 3rd visit. 3. The R/O was leaking WHILE they were here, and I pointed it out. They worked on it some more, then left. I didn't buy some cheap off-brand R/O like you seem to indicate despite never having been here. 4. NO ONE touched ANY of the pluming in our house until AFTER your 5th visit and I stopped calling Merit. Nice try though. 5. How do you know that the tub spout was thoroughly tested? It leaked the VERY FIRST time that I went to use it. Crazy huh? 6. It must be amazingly coincidental that 5 items that your company installed all leaked after installation. But I'm sure they were all thoroughly tested, and it had nothing to do with the way you do business and the cheap parts that YOU used (and that Justin even admitted while on the job)! We did a lot of remodeling work in our house, and we simply needed a plumber to come in and install all the new parts. It took them 5 different visits between Justin & Javier. The 1st trip was to put everything in. We noticed shortly afterwards that ALL of our new sinks were leaking underneath into the cabinets. Our R/O system was also leaking. On trip #2, Javier came and "fixed" all the leaking sinks and the R/O. But the sinks started leaking again shortly after he left. On trip #3, Justin (the supervisor) came out and replaced a bunch of the parts that they previously installed (these were parts that THEY chose to complete the job, not parts we provided). He said these parts were no good and that he hates using them. Then why didn't they just use the better parts on the 1st trip? Not too long after, we noticed more issues. The only sink we didn't replace, we had a new faucet installed instead. I went to wash my hands, gently touched the faucet, and it turned about 45 degrees (I have video of this). So I grabbed it with my hand, and with almost no effort I was able to swing the faucet left and right at will. Also, when I looked closer at the upstairs guest bathroom sink that we hadn't used yet, I noticed that the stopper wasn't working (that thing behind the faucet that you pull up on to plug the water). I looked underneath, and it wasn't even connected. So, Javier came back out to fix these items on trip #4. Then, we noticed that the tub faucet in the master bathroom was leaking. So, Javier was sent back out for trip #5. Also, for our kitchen sink, we bought one of those faucet heads that you can pull out to rinse the sink. When we tried to pull it out, it went about one inch and then clanged. We could hardly even move it. So I looked under the sink, and the way everything was put together under there looked like a bowl of spaghetti. When pulling on the nozzle head, it instantly ran into other lines and got tangled. They installed EVERYTHING and had the whole space to work with and could have done it however they needed to. A handyman happened to be over when we discovered this, who also does plumbing work on the side, and he looked underneath our sink, and he just looked at me and said, "That's just really lazy work is what that is." So now Javier is out for trip #5, and he pulls off the leaky tub faucet, looks at it closer and says it's defective. It's a brand new part, and I'm not exactly confident in Javier, but hey, let's hope he's right. I would have thought that a plumber, after completing their work, would check it to make sure it doesn't leak. I didn't check every faucet with them, which is why I noticed so much of this after they left. Is it too much to assume that they would have done that? If so, they would have seen all the previous leaks like I did the first time I went to use the sinks and faucets. He took out the faucet and said we had to order a new one, which we did, and it came a few weeks later, and we had the handyman install it. The handyman also caulked around the tub faucets and said he was surprised that the plumber didn't do that either. Javier then adjusted a few things under the kitchen sink, so there is better mobility for the nozzle. He then left, and a minute later the doorbell rang. He said, "I have to charge you $139 for the tub spout work." Oh, you mean for the 10 minutes that it took you to take out the "faulty part" that you previously installed? NEVER ONCE DID THEY APOLOGIZE. I'm out of space or I would write more. read more

I needed my kitchen drain snaked. I had already disassembled the PVC drain pipes and put down towels under the sink, making it very straightforward. Their guy Sam was very polite, clean and did make sure to go all the way to the main line. The clog was not a large or complicated one - he pulled out only black grease (must've been there from prior owners). He was working on it for no more than 30 minutes and said he had to check with the owner, Mike, to see how much they would charge. That was worrisome, as it should be pretty straightforward pricing. Mike told Sam to charge $179. I have paid $50-$79 in the past and granted, with inflation, I could see paying $99-$120, but $179 is totally overpriced. I understand that they have overhead, but come on! My housemate had gotten their name from her sister, so we figured we'd give them a try, but we will never use them again. I will call my regular plumber, who does good work and never overcharges me. read more

We had a blocked drain affecting both bathrooms, after a few hours ( after 7pm) working on it with no luck, he told us he would have to get some help and return in the morning - no charge until it was fixed. I had a malfunctioning water softener. Dave came out, analyzed the problem, found a cracked tank, recommended a new unit and gave me a written quote for that and some other repairs. I do not know why they have 5 star on Yelp!! I had a big leak from my irrigation and had to call them for repair since I had to shut off the water. Javier came and after checking the plumbing decided to cap the leak for now since they do not do irrigation. He digged the area for 20 minutes, found the leak but he did not have the cap in his car!!! If you are plumber you should have basic parts in your truck. Then he went to store and when he was back it took him another 15 minutes to cap the pipe. Asked how much I owe him, he replied $300. I asked why since he spent less than an hour for the work and then he said $185 which I feel is too much for work done in an hour. The only thing that I would credit them is that they showed up in an hour but other than that i really do not think they are honest with what they charge. read more

* Visited 9/7 to determine if we did/didn't have Poly/Pex running through our house on behalf of our buyers * Saw a poly pipe tied to our water softener in the attic, that doesn't impact house's plumbing, and said poly was throughout * Wiggled a valve in the wall, which moved slightly, and confirmed that meant Poly * Quoted $10,700 to fix, but noted that it's cheaper than a $100,000 worth of damage * Merit came back on 9/9, the day after our plumber broke holes in the wall to confirm we have all copper, and they changed course 180 degrees, but apologized for the incorrect diagnosis. * Not sure if I'd say unethical across the board, but certainly get a second opinion when needing high dollar plumbing work!!! read more

I called Mike from Merit early this morning and he made every effort to make our home a priority due to the fact, we had to completely turn off the water to the entire house. He called to give me his approximate ETA and sure enough, he was right on the money. He did a thorough inspection of our home to rationalize a huge roof leak directly above our kitchen........no pipes on the roof....water heater was good to go....filtration system was good plus the entire irrigation to our lawn was assessed.....He was totally flummoxed but due to perseverance, grit and past experience he concluded the problem was with the neighbors irrigation system which was shooting water at least 14 feet into the air and flooding my roof...holy moly.........case solved! Great company!!! Called on Sunday, looking to replace a faulty shower knob and cartridge. Been broken for sometime. Mike answered on Sunday and we set an appointment for Wednesday, which was my earliest available. Chase came and checked it out. Went to the parts store and returned. Fixed it quickly and correctly. The final bill was $30 below the estimate which I thought was pretty fair to begin with. We love being able to use our master shower again. Highly recommend these guys!!!
