I handed Guy Echo one of his toughest carpet jobs, and he was excellent, patient and gracious about it. After having something messy spill on my carpet I called four friends asking if they had the number of a carpet cleaning company. Each said, "Yes, but none that I would recommend." I next turned to Yelp and messaged 8 local companies. 2 never replied. 2 refused to give prices over the phone. 3 gave me prices but weren't available on short notice (something that's forgivable), and 1 (Guy from Echo) gave me a fixed price and said he could come over first thing in the morning. When Guy arrived he had a quick look, told me what the job involved (which was a little more complex than anticipated), and confirmed that the price he quoted me was not going to change. The next thing he did was put blankets down to protect my floor -- and installed corner pieces to protect my staircase from his hoses. His concern for my property was both appreciated and unexpected (something I've not seen other carpet cleaners focus on). He then went to work and meticulously cleaned my carpet (literally on his hands and knees when needed). It was obvious that he was a knowledgeable professional, but that he also took pride in his work. In the end he did everything that was promised... and a bit more. Echo arrived ahead of time and then he checked my carpet carefully, then he told me the carpet had been professionally cleaned by the previous tenant, so there was no need to clean it again. I can't believe how lucky I got last week when I took Yelp suggestion and called Guy Echo to clean my carpets. He came over the next day right on time and told me my carpets didn't need to be cleaned, but he did clean some spots and explained to me that cleaning a carpet that doesn't really need it is very bad for the carpet. I reviewed different carpet cleaning companies on Yelp and decided to go with Guy Echo at Echo Carpet Services. the first time I called I left a voice mail message for Guy, and as advertised, he called back within 1 hour. I set up an early appointment for 8:00 AM on Friday, but later I had to change because of a forgotten doctro's apointment. Guy couldn't have been more accomodating. We re-set for 1:00 PM that same Friday. Guy texted me to say he would be about 20 minutes early if that was OK with us. Of course! He helped me remove some of the heavy furniture in the living room and vacuumed the carpet while I was finishing clearing the area. He evaluated the type of carpet and dirt/stains and decided upon a three-step treatment: (i) spray with a green chemical to help loosen the dirt embedded in the carpet fibers; (ii) buff the carpet with powerful circular buffer that applied a slightly caustic soap while penetrating the carpet pile, lifting the dirt from the nylon fibers; and (iii) steam the carpet with a wet-dry vaccum powered by a separate Nissan gasoline engine in his van. The steam was generated from heat recovery from his van engine exhaust. He used a slightly acidic green chemical in the steam water makeup to counteract the caustic in the buffer soap and leave the carpet with a desired pH of about 4.5 to preserve freshness and eliminate odors. The carpet turned out looking like new. We couldn't have been happier with Guy's courtesy, professionalism, positive atitude, and attention to a positive customer experience. Guy is a very honest businessman. I just moved into a new apartment and was planning to get it steam cleaned. I setup an appointment with him and he arrived on time. After inspecting the carpet in the apartment, he informed me that he did not think it was worth cleaning at the current moment since it was in good condition and I would not notice a difference. He suggested that I should wait a month or two to see how it looks and then consider getting it cleaned. As I am not knowledgeable in steam cleaning, he could have easily sold me the cleaning service and I wouldn't have known any better. I really appreciate his honestly and that he didn't take advantage of my lack of knowledge. I have a lot of respect for people like him.
