Had dinner at EB Strong's last evening with 5 colleagues and the event was exactly what you would expect from top tier steakhouse. All of the appetizers were very good and well prepared as well as the selection of salads on the menu. Unfortunately they excluded a Caesar Salad for some reason which disappointed a few of my colleagues. Preparation of our entrée where exactly on point, with my Filet Mignon cooked to perfection. Service was excellent and very competent. The one negative that I would mention was that the wine list published on their website was not up to date relative the vintage years of their wines. Otherwise, would highly suggest this establishment. read more

We stopped in Burlington for a night on our honeymoon roadtrip and had a fantastic dinner at EB Strong's. It was by far the best meal we had in our weeklong trip. The cocktail was perfect (French 75) and the food was incredible. We started with the calamari, and my wife had the scallops while I had the steak with mashed potatoes. There was nothing left on our plates by the end of the meal. We finished off with the cheesecake in the mason jar. It was a unique presentation and tasted amazing. Will definitely be back here again next time we swing through Burlington. read more

Very good food and have been there many times with my wife. I called 24 hours in advance to get a reservation for 6-7pm, was told on the phone they don't like to take reservations for two people until after 8pm!! Really? Guess my 2 person business is not enough. Too bad because we eat out almost every weekend. read more

Suzie the bar tender was extremely knowledgeable and lovely. The filet mignon was delicious. My lobster tail was slightly under cooked. The mashed potatoes were so good! Very nice wine list! Highly recommend Stags Leap Cab. Espresso was very bitter even after the second attempt. Overall a lovely dining experience and would recommend it. read more

I had the venison and my husband had a steak, fantastic food, sat at the bar great service. Maple old fashioned is a winner for a drink! We received a free glass of wine for my husbands birthday! Overall great experience!!! read more

My family wanted to take me out for my birthday. We tried this place for the first time All the personnel was amazingly nice except one person who made our experience fantastic Margot our server was so perfect that we will go again for sure The food was excellent as well as the service Thank you for this experience We came from Montreal Canada to Burlington for the week end . That meal was the best event. read more

Beware of Awful Owner - I went to this restaurant for an alumni weekend event while in Burlington. The event was downstairs in their dreary basement. My husband had a bite of some appetizers that were out on the appetizer table and he realized after that he ate peanut sauce. It was not marked and he has severe peanut allergies. He got sick and had to leave. When I tried to tell the owner what happened, she told me she was not aware of any food restrictions and could care less! She did not apologize or ask how my husband was doing. By the way, he threw up and almost had to go to the emergency room. I would never visit this restaurant or bar again and the owner should be ashamed at herself for how she handled the situation. read more

On the positive side, the ambience and service were excellent. However, the food was above average at best, and greatly overpriced. My brother had a $40 plus ribeye steak that came with no sides. He had to pay $8 extra for speciality fries that weren't all that special. Will not being going back. read more

My wife and I had been wanted to try this restaurant for sometime since we both love beef - both at restaurants and at home. While the overall service and atmosphere were good the food and value were poor. We found our steaks (house filet mignon and prime sirloin) to taste good but we found more grizzle in the meat that we would expect. The crab cake appetizer, warm bread, and creamed spinach side were bland. The lobster tail and the garlic mashed potatoes were very good. The service staff was friendly and helpful but we were surprised when the steaks were served that the knife supplied looked like a butter knife with a serrated edge that did a terrible job of cutting the steak. We asked the wait staff about it and they apologized and said that they had gotten new knives but forgot to give them to us when we were served our food. Overall we did not care for our meal especially because of the high price. read more

Went with a group of good friends, all locals: we finally got around to giving this restaurant a try. Can't imagine why we didn't go sooner. A wonderful experience in every respect. Attractive, relaxed atmosphere and classic steakhouse vibe. Absolutely delicious food. Steaks charred perfectly medium-rare, superior salads and crab cakes, and an assortment of beautifully done sides in generous, shareable portions. The Brussel sprouts and tempura asparagus? Out of this world. I can't say enough about the server, an enthusiastic woman who was totally professional, in charge, and fully informed about both the wines and the food. Loved it. Very excited to return for the weekend prime rib. read more

Excellent filet mignon and diver scallops. The waitress was superb, very attentive and knew her cuts of meat. An unbelievable meal. Would definitely return. read more

Stopped by last night for dinner, the surf and turf was awesome. This place is really good and I was surprised how busy it was on a Tuesday. Will definitely return, one of the best in the area. read more

Husband and I went for lunch on a Tuesday right when the door opened. We were the only customers the whole time. We had a really great experience which included our luncheon filet mignon, garlic mashed potatoes and a few onion rings. The filets were cooked perfectly for us and the meat was very tender. The lunch portion was the correct amount for lunch. read more

Best salmon ever! I asked for rare and got rare! That never happens. Wonderful meal, as usual. Best place in Burlington Vt for a steak, and dinner. read more

We have good steaks, we have good food, we have exactly what you seek. Strong's has an aptitude to provide what every patron wants and the glorified experience they deserve. No bourgeois attitude required here. The Strong's team has helped reformed the steakhouse for Vermonters. The fine dining we all want to experience and the comfort of home. The personalities so intertwined that seemingly if you could walk in barefoot, you'd feel comfortable doing so. Down to earth Vermonters with a great taste and style for great food, date nights, and new experiences to make your mouths water. A wine list so encompassing you're dumbfounded by the choices this establishment has to offer. You forget your favorite wine?... No problem! Strong's will remember it for you and even stock a case for you if you're so inclined. This is the steakhouse that VT needed and the one that every tourist must try. read more

Very disappointing. With Capital Grille prices and a la carte format, we were expecting similar quality and presentaion. The meals were not even close & actually quite bland. Burlington is still in need of a first class steak & chop house, as this place falls far short of even acceptable. read more

I can't complain enough. Yes, I normally don't write restaurant reviews so keep in mind that this was a horrendous experience. 4 of us at $260 (not including tip)...took 1.5 hours to get the salads. Dinner came later - salad so-so, steak bland, fries overcooked, asparagus good When we complained there was not "sorry" - just "we are busy" - well....I would NEVER recommend this place. The table next to us commented to us how poor the service was too. It appeared they left before their food came. read more

If you would like a dinner that is not quite up to the standard of an Outback Steakhouse at four times the price than I suspect you will enjoy your meal very much. 1.5 hour wait to for dinner to be served, tap water, overcooked fries, mediocre steak, unapologetic staff, fine dinning my ass. read more

After an excellent first trip we decided to stop in for a second visit. Everything from the wine recommendation to the appetizers and entrees were perfect. The manager was so pleasant and our second experience will keep us coming back. read more

Very disappointed, very. I am a frequent traveler and diner. I went the week of 9/24; at the recommendation of the Burlington hotel I was staying at- I asked them for a good place for steak. I ordered one of the specials they had; I figured for a $45 cut of beef; that it would be amazing. It was covered is some type of sauce; red - very red; in the middle (I ordered med. rare- not still mooing); and cold. I sent it back; they returned with a filet- not what I ordered. I sent THAT back- it was raw in the middle; and cold. the manager came over with the 3rd return- and I sent that back! I could not believe this- never, ever have I experienced this before. Finally they sent something to my table that was cooked the way I ordered it, med. rare. It took 10 minutes and me getting up to get the condiments I requested- like salt and pepper; and my food got cold - again. I would have expected at the very least my meal would have been comped at that point; or that the manager/ owner would have come over to profusely apologize- nothing. Although they did come over and talk loudly to the martini drinking loud mouths next to me. A completely irritating experience and not a place I will revisit. In addition, when I returned to the Hotel Vermont where I was staying, I made sure the entire front desk staff knew about my experience. I like good restaurants, and I enjoy good food. When I want a steak, I want a steak; and for $45 for a cut of beef that was supposed to be the "special" - I should have been absolutely 'wowed". Instead I was disgusted and upset. Won't be back. read more

YIKES! We made reservations for 8pm. we were pretty pumped to sit down for a nice dinner on our last night here, especially since the reviews were great. As we arrived, an unhappy couple was leaving because they stood at the front waiting for the hostess but were never greeted. That didn't give us a great first impression. We entered and waited by the front desk for TEN MINUTES! During this time, we saw no sign of the hostess. It's important to note that this place was not busy. When she finally greeted us, she said she still had to get our table ready. We would have been understanding, however she never apologized for the wait or seemed to care. We left immediately and got Ben & Jerrys instead....probably saved us $100! I'm sure the food is good but our customer service experience was awful. read more

Impeccable! Top 5 restaurant meal ever! My husband and I are world travelers who happened upon EB Strong's while in Burlington for the weekend. From the starter bread (above-average white and wheat) to appetizer (steak tartare/crab cakes) to main course (salad with peas and whipped avocado for me/steak for my husband) everything was amazing including the service. The crab cakes had NO fishy taste and the steak was perfectly done. We were never without ample water or cocktail refills as needed which is noteworthy since we often go thirsty at New England restaurants. We are thinking of driving 5 hours to Burlington just to eat there again. read more

In Burlington for business and our first night dinner was at this restaurant. We had a large group, which isn't the easiest to serve, but we were not disappointed. We had a fantastic server in Caitlin. We ordered oysters, mussels, shrimp cocktail and calamari for appetizers and all were wonderful. The bread that followed with the herbed butter was addicting. Then onto the salad course with "crispy egg" on the salad that was divine. Then we had our entrees and sides. My filet was prepared perfectly. When a steak melts in your mouth, you know that the staff knows what they are doing! So, we had to decide where we made dinner reservations for our second night of meetings and all decided that we would revisit EB Strong's and I am very happy to report that night 2 matched our first visit to this restaurant. We had a different server, Kalani, with a very different flair but once again fantastic service and fantastic food! I would visit here for dinner on any future trip to Burlington-not to be missed! read more

I was with a small business group who had dinner here two nights in a row, because the first night was so incredibly good. Easily the best steaks I have ever had. The service both nights was seamless. Every appetizer, salad, entrée and side dish was, yes, something to write home about. An exceptional wine list. Even the desserts and coffee were truly wonderful. Yes, indeed, I will be back. read more

We went to this new Burlington restaurant for our Anniversary. We were the only ones in the restaurant aside from the bar since it was early (6pm). The decor is dismal & things are messy but knowing the owner we thought since they are still finishing and have only had a soft opening, it was understandable. What wasn't understandable was the terrible food and service. This is nothing but a tourist trap with over rated promotion. Our waitress was sarcastic and not helpful at all. We ordered the Calamaris and Shrimp cocktail as appertizers. The calamaris looked like small mozzarella sticks, were way over salted and tasted bland. Seemed to be frozen, fake calamari meat. The shrimp cocktail was not chilled, the shrimp were mushy and unedible. For an entree we ordered fish of the day and filet mignon and two side dishes. Our appetizer came in less than 5 minutes and then we waited 45 minutes for the main meal. One other table was seated in the meantime - vips and stockbrockers - our waitress only concentrated on them thereafter and we were completely ignored. When the food finally came, everything was cold. The manager asked how the meal was shortly after being served and when we responded 'it's okay' as we hadn't really started - she had a face that would kill and said 'it's only okay?' We replied it was cold, and she took away one side dish to bring back a semi-warm one. We guess she didn't understand that everything was cold. On top of that we both didn't feel well all night......food is over-salted, over-priced, over-cooked etc. We ordered dessert after not touching much of the meal. They only have very limited menu choices including dessert choices. We ordered cheesecake. We got a mason jar with 1/4 inch of supposed cheesecake in the bottom, had to open the top and eat out of the jar with spoons like you're camping. The cheesecake was more like Jello pudding with a few drops of graham crackers and a couple of strawberries - horrible in other words - if they think that is cute and unique - it's not. This is totally not suitable for what is suppose to be considered a high end steakhouse. They certainly need to take some lessons from other steakhouses that are truly high end. They need to educate their staff on proper wait staff protocol and their chef could take a few serious cooking lessons!. It was impossible to think that being the only table and numerous staff that we would get service and a meal like this for over $200. This is nothing but a huge joke and certainly not expected from this owner who has another successful Burlington area restaurant - if we were him we certainly wouldn't leave supervision to the manager herself.......We won't be back. They also might want to cater to all of their patrons equally since you never know who you might be serving. Case in point - ourselves. read more

Truly an experience!!! A coworker suggested this place for a long overdue date night for me and my husband and we are so glad he did! The location couldn't be better, the atmosphere was great, the service excellent and the food phenomenal. Our waiter Kalani was very professional and friendly. He knew the specials inside and out and was very attentive and also picked a great wine for me to try! We started off with cab cakes that were very tasty. My husband had a whisky and I a wonderful glass of Sauvignon Blanc. We then each had Caesar salads with just the perfect amount of dressing. My husband had the Statler chicken which he let me try and we both agree that it was the most tender and flavorful chicken we have ever had. I chose the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection. Both of our entrees came with garlic mashed potatoes that were divine. Kalani suggested the smoothest red wine I have ever had with my entree and it was the perfect pairing. We decided to go for dessert because Kalani said they had a Kahlua soaked chocolate bunt cake that would change our lives. We are so glad we went with it because it was amazing! The entire meal was a dining experience. The presentation of each course was spectacular. We will definitely be going back as it is 3 days later and we are still thinking about it and wanting more! read more

Fantastic spot at the top of Church St. in beautiful Burlington, VT. I've come here with my family for years and this new gem is a must-see! Mahogany and white marble bar, fantastic and very knowledgeable staff. The bartenders are personable and the bar was packed full when we arrived. The four of us had a cocktail and moved to the dining room where beautiful art lined the walls, tables were meticulously set, and the wine list was both diverse and extensive. The sommelier gave a great recommendation on wine. I had the filet mignon (at te recommendation of my server) which was the most complete steak entree option. Tender and juicy, unlike any steak I've had. My wife had scallops which were buttery and melt-in-your-mouth quality. The other members of our party opted for the very shareable ribeye with some sides. I will definitely be making a reservation for our next visit! I've raved this place to everyone in town! This is how a steakhouse should be- upscale, downtown, and all around five stars! read more
