I've had lunch here several times over the past 2 decades and enjoyed their burgers, and chicken breast sandwiches. Recently I went there in the morning to try their breakfast tacos to go. The tacos were OK. I think I would have enjoyed them more if I didn't take them to go. The tortillas got a bit stiff and I didn't have access to a microwave. I would recommend the breakfast tacos for dine in. the lunch time rush can be a bit hectic. read more

"Grace K" writes below that it's not a place for people expecting to eat healthy. True. They do have some salad options, but its certainly a place made for carnivores. It's in a pretty industrial area of Hempstead highway @ Tidwell. It's surrounded by industrial parks. The type of people that work in this area, generally, are not they type looking for a sushi bar. It's a blue collar area. People who work with their hands to make things, the backbone of America. "Grace K" also pretty much states its a place for fat people wanting fattening food. I'd consider it more a spin on american food made for the working class. Take for instance today, I had spaghetti with meat sauce, a side salad, and garlic bread for $8. I had something different, and it was thankfully not a drive-thru burger. Still made it back to work in under an hour. Not the most healthy option, but it was tasty. Either way, I'll return... get the grilled chicken sandwich, add swiss cheese and bacon, cover in pickles, and a side of their seasoned fries. read more

I've driven by this place several times, and today I had an hour and a half to kill, so I decided to check it out - I'm glad I did. As soon as I stepped out of my vehicle I could smell the mesquite wood in the air. They have a shadded patio area, and a large indoor seating area. They also have a private room that you can reserve. The menu is setup similar to al a carte. Everything is priced separately, or with fries. Bacon & Cheese are extra, and grilled onions are complimentary.. Burgers are their mainstay, but the also serve up sandwiches as well. I opted for the Buffalo burger (1/3 lb) with cheese, grilled onions, and seasoned fries. They make the fries plain as well, and the cost is the same whichever you choose. Although the buffalo burger costs about $1 more, it doesn't shrink up like the regular ground beef since it's leaner - which, consequently, makes it healthier for you. Note - I said healthier, not healthy. I skipped the soft drink and had water to drink - total cost - $8. For some reason I can't seem to eat a burger without jalapenos, and Eats had me taken care of there also. They have a small topping bar that includes lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, jalapenos, mayo, ketchup, and mustard, as well as sour cream, shredded cheddar, chives, and bacon bits which I assume were for baked potatoes. But who knows, maybe there's a rash of burger lovers slapping down sour cream on their burgers - who am I to judge? All in all it was a great lunch. I arrived at 11:20, and by 11:30 the lunch rush was piling in and was still going strong when I headed out around 12:30pm. The flow was pretty good, and they handled the rush very efficiently serving customers quickly. The staff was very friendly, all smiles and seemed to be enjoying their work. The place is well kept, and very clean - including the restrooms. To top it off, if you're nearby - they deliver to you. If I'm ever in the area with some spare time again, you can bet I'll stop in to Eats. read more

This place is good if you want a hearty lunch for a decent price. I usually get a burger when here, but they do have other options on the menu including salads, stuffed potatoes, fajitas, nachos, quesadillas and chicken fried items. It gets pretty crowded during lunch so I recommend to go early to beat the crowd and avoid having to stand in line to order. After you order you go find a seat and wait for your number. The drinks are self serve here as well as the fixings for your burger. I like the fact that you can put as much or little of whatever you choose on your burgers. The meat is well seasoned and you can definitely taste the mesquite smoke in the taste. It is a pretty tasty burger and a nice size for the price. The fries are cooked well and not too soft. Crunchy on the outside but soft in the middle. You get unlimited refills on your drinks as well and since they come in Styrofoam cups, take them with you. There is also a drive thru window on the side of the building. I have used it, but since your food is made to order it does take a while to get your food. It is still pretty fast though and a nice option if you are on the go. I like this place and if I need my burger fix, this is a good choice. It is close to my office and the food is good. For a burger, fries and drink your total is under $10. A fair price for the amount and quality of food you receive. read more

My coworkers ordered out from here so of course I jumped on the bandwagon. If you're a "fatty" as Grace K. assumes, you'll be happy to know that you can find a lighter side at Eats Mesquite. I ordered a Garden Burger with seasoned fries with jalapenos and guacamole sans mayo and mustard. I guess I'm kind of a picky eater. Fair warning to the vegans, the Gardenburger comes with a slice of cheese but you can ask for it to be 86'ed. I just removed mine. The Garden Burger had a great smoky flavor because they charbroiled it. Never had a veggie burger cooked like that! Loved every bite of it. The seasoned fries were alright, next time I'll skip 'em so that I'm not such a Texas fatty!! One coworker ordered the chicken fried steak but was not pleased at all. She said the breading lacked a certain...je ne sais quoi. She didn't like the mashed potatoes or the gravy but was happy that at least the corn was good. My other coworkers got the hamburger meal and thoroughly enjoyed it. They serve breakfast tacos here too! I'm planning on taking my family here one Saturday so we can all fatten up! read more

Uhh, I've only been here once but I guess it's like your standard Texan grill type of place for oversized people wanting overweight carnage. What does that even mean ?!? 6/21/2019 We keep coming here since my dad really enjoy the omelets here and the owner Mark is always friendly and this is just an overall good place to eat. My mom and husband ordere the breakfast special that comes with pancakes, bacon, eggs and a drink for $10.62 for two. I order the oatmeal $2.49. My dad orderd the #4 omelet. We drive over 20 miles just to come here for not only the food but they are nice people. read more

I usually get the gyro. Fair warning, it is the prepack gyro meat and not vertical broiler style. Still tasty though. Usually take my boys here due to large menue and they can get burgers. Mesquite burgers good too. Place is very busy weekday lunch so if you want more laid back try Saturday. Weekday parking is also challenging. read more

Eats Mesquite is one of my fave spots in the area for a yummy breakfast :) But don't get me wrong, their regular menu staples are delish too. Most of the time that we've been here, we almost always order from the breakfast menu. My favorite thing to get is their breakfast omelet, it comes with hash browns or grits (your choice) and toast for about $7. If you feel like indulging, on their breakfast menu, they offer 3 pancakes with bacon or sausage for $5, I love em! You also can't go wrong with their grilled chicken sandwich or their tasty burgers, both go for about $6 bucks. The ordering process is easy, you simply just go the front register, order your food and they'll call out your number and they have self serve drinks. The service has always been fast and very friendly, even when we come at 7:30am everyone is talkative and energetic. You would never be able to tell it's so early in the a.m. This is a little spot at the corner of Hempstead Rd. and W. Tidwell, it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. This is mainly a breakfast/lunch spot. Their hours are kinda wonky (reason for 4 stars) but you can get used to it. Monday-Friday they're open from 6a-3pm (they serve breakfast from 6a-10:30am M-F) Saturdays they're open from 7a-3pm and breakfast is served all day. Yay!! I've only really tired their salads here. Their Grilled Chicken Greek salad is so good! The place is always packed during lunch, but you can always find a nice clean table. Service is alright. Some days are busier than others and its better if you go to the counter once they've called out a couple number before yours. Chances are its already there... I called in for a pick up order at their window, but they offered to deliver for free instead:) how awesome is that! My company usually orders breakfast from Eats.. the delivery can be kind of slow, but I'm only assuming because they have so many deliveries ( I guess )! I ordered a bacon, egg, potato and sausage, egg, potato breakfast tacos AND I was very disappointed in what I received!! I definitely could have saved my money on this purchase !! There's not much of a selection around this area so this is good enough. When you work in Gunspoint, you have to adjust your expectations. Their menu covers everything from burgers to baked potatoes to salads to quesadillas. They have a decent salad bar that'll do the trick when you need a break from stuffing your face with burgers or fast food. Technically, it's called Garden of Eat'n, but they are connected so I consider them one in the same. You will most definitely take that mesquite smell with you when you leave. read more

I thought the place looked cute, cozy and perhaps was a diamond in the rough. I had the pork loin sandwich and it seemed as if it was a very thin, pounded down previously frozen patty. It was ok. At least it was loaded with fresh veggies and the pickles and onions I requested. My partner was not particularly enthusiastic about his meal. When I saw the fake, dyed bacon bits that accompanied his potato I knew I would not be back. Fair prices, nice outdoor seating and maybe we didn't order what they make best. Been coming here for a number of years. Old school diner with chalk board menus that only recently got an update. Their menu is quite diverse, but the value of the chicken sandwich combo is hard to beat. Salads are pretty good too IMO. Parking can get a little tight at times though. Buffalo burger is good and a great change from a regular burger. read more

People really rave about this place, so we just had to stop by one day for lunch and see what it's all about. I ordered one of their biggest burgers and even though it was alot of food...it just didn't have much taste to it at all. The prices are a little higher for a little burger joint, but I guess they can raise the prices since all the industrial workers up and down the street don't have many options in that area. If I could express how disappointed I am in this establishment with words, I would but I don't think I can. We went in to this casual establishment with our two young children for a late lunch today. My kids, ages 3 and 1 were laughing and playing in their seats as they ate. My husband was busy trying to keep our youngest from climbing out of their broken high chair. We were approached by a man who told us, "hey if you could quiet them down that would be great because other customers are rolling their eyes...they're too much" I was mortified and then even further alarmed when I found out this was their manager scolding us. On the front of their restaurant there is a sign that says "family owned and operated" and instead of being welcomed we were ostracized and felt uncomfortable enough to not even finish our meal. Keep in mind this is counter service food served in plastic and paper baskets, something you would expect to be kid friendly. I am more than aware the world does not revolve around us and our children, but I have never been treated so poorly by someone, let alone a manager, for the normal behavior of our children. The food itself is 3 stars, but the customer service, or lack there of, left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I really don't know how this places has 4 stars. It's super basic. Breakfast tastes super plain. Almost no taste what so ever. The bacon is really skinny, egg is bland, sausage patties are small, and pancakes are okay. If you are a fan of breakfast tacos, don't get them from here. For cheese it looks like they use those craft singles. The tacos are super small and really suck. I would waste my money here. The buffalo burger is good tho. For lunch in this area - this place is my favorite. Run by the same family for like 20yrs or something. Always clean, always fresh. I switch back and forth between the Rib-eye sandwich and the Fajita steak salad. It is a bit pricey for the location but the food quality is worth it. I probably would not come back here. I made the mistake of ordering a chicken salad in a place that seems to specialize in fried food and burgers. The chicken breast was rubbery and had no flavor. For $10 including my bottle of water, I left unsatisfied. I was trying to eat healthy and this is just not the place for that. I can't rave about EATS entire menu since I am a creature of habit & find something I love & stick with it. I go there for what they specialize in - Buffalo Burgers!!! Good breakfast! Stopped by this morning on my way to work. I drive by it almost everyday and there's always cars in the parking lot. It's looks like a country store and they have good food inside. I ordered the #1 Breakfast, which was 2 eggs, choice of bacon or sausage or bacon, toast and choice of grits or hashbrowns. I had eggs over easy, with bacon and hashbrowns. You order at the counter then find a seat. The service was fast and the food was cooked the way I like it. The eggs had intact yolks that were runny inside and there was no burned egg whites. The bacon was crisp and chewy and the hash browns were tender with a crisp crust on them. The staff was friendly and effcient. I definitely will be checking this place out for lunch and breakfast again. read more
