ECB gets four stars from me, but only just. Now that may sound a bit negative, but like so much in life, it's complicated. Let's start with the food. It does burgers, smash style. It does them well. Very well. For a style of cooking that emphasizes the crusty exterior, the patties are surprisingly juicy. The quality of meat is also apparent: it does taste like angus beef and apparently grass-fed at that. To most palettes, that may not be noticeable. To mine at least, it was, and I was appreciative. Let's go to the sides: fries and onion rings. While they are lightly fried and not overly greasy, I am far less enamored with these accompaniments. The fries are lightly flavored with an msg shake, but the flavor still bordered on the bland. Salt and plentiful amounts of ketchup were required to pep them up. Moving lastly to the drinks: fountain sodas and shakes. The former are what they are (if you like Pepsi products; I'm more of a Coke man myself). The shakes are estimable. The coffee shake hits the spot for my ever-present coffee urges. And the price? Well, this is where we hit a real snag. With the exception of the prohibitive Hamburger Hut, Eat Crispy Burger is more expensive than other comparable local burger joints. They do charge a lot for their fare. Between lackluster fries and the prices, I was frankly leaning towards three stars. Two things pushed me the other way. First, of course, is that doing business, especially in the food industry, is expensive. Encinitas, too, ain't cheap. But the other thing that convinced me to give them four stars was the fact ECB is not a franchise or chain restaurant. They are a one-off (at least, for now), without the same access as large chains to suppliers. As a local business, they are worth the extra cost. So while I may not come here with enormous regularity, if I feel like a quality double cheeseburger with all the fixins, I know where to go. read more

We were in town for the weekend and decided to give this place a shot! And we weren't disappointed! We ordered: OG-10/10 All-American-9/10 Fries-your typical fries Onion Rings-your typical onion rings Free drinks for yelp check-in! Food was quick and tasted delicious! Like what some of the other reviews were saying, the OG reminds me of an in n out burger. We really enjoyed these perfect burgers and will def come back!! Great service too! read more

Talk about overrated. Burgers are average at best. Food aside, they gave us the wrong shake. Forgot to give us the fries we ordered. And also didn't give us a drink we bought. Unacceptable for a place that's entirely a to-go model. Hard pass ever going to this place again. read more

I went here just to get the fries and the coffee milk shake that everyone were raving about. This place was very very close to where I was staying, and it is right next to a Starbucks. The parking here is little cramped, but not a big deal. Looks like it is run by a family and everyone working there were very friendly and warm. I ordered the animal style fries with onions, cheese and home made sauce. The coffee shake tasted good but the coffee flavor was light, also it was little too sweet for me. The fries were fresh and the toppings gave a nice flavor. Several people were enjoying the burgers, as there is no chicken option I couldn't try it. read more

No place to sit and eat. By the time you get home the bun and fries are soggy. The parking lot is small and always hard to enter b/c of Starbucks' drive thru. Food is made to order, which is great for most people but enough room to entertain young children. I would go more often if they moved to a better location. read more

Came here with my son after I managed to drag him away from the local park. We both had a hamburger, mine with everything, his without. The burgers were really tasty, and I liked the "crispy" smash treatment. They aren't huge, so if you're hungry order a bigger one, or maybe two. Staff were very friendly. read more

Please do not sleep on this place. Definitely going to dream about the burger. I'm an In and Out girl at heart, so let me tell you, this place is right up there. The owners are super nice, attentive and friendly. They found out we drove from Chula Vista to try and brought us some of their delicious shakes. The meat is perfectly seasoned, Brioche bun is soft and buttery, onions grilled just right, fringes we're on point! read more

My husband and I stopped here as we were looking to see what to have for lunch and we were absolutely blown away. We saw the yelp reviews, and the food and customer service did not disappoint. We both had the OG double crispy burger, my husband added egg and peppers and mine was just as is. It was easy top 3 burgers we've honestly ever had. This beats Freddy's by a long shot - not even comparable. The gentleman ringing us up was super kind and very helpful. The inside is vibrant and gives a very home made feel. You can see them cooking everything in the front and it smells DELICIOUS We went to a park near by to enjoy our meal and it was STEAMING hot. The onions were cooked perfectly, the cheese melted so nicely and omg as im writing this I am so sad that it's so far away from me because I would keep going back. Every time we visit we will be back for sure. Thank you so much for the amazing food and customer service! read more

I wanted to try this place because of their 5 star reviews. And they deserve EVERY star. Angela the business owner is the sweetest. She let us know of the many options of ingredients that you can use to build your own burger. I have to try an egg & avocado on my burger next time. The burger was delicious and the ingredients tasted fresh. My order of onion rings & fries were fried to perfection. And the batter was light & crispy. I love a burger place that feels inviting (all thanks to Angela) and her family...... but also one that serves great food. This place is definitely a combination of both. read more

Eat Crispy Burger is aptly named since that's exactly what I did here. Well, not actually in the restaurant since there's no seating. More on that later. I stopped here on my way home from San Diego as I was craving a solid burger. This place did not disappoint. The burgers were cooked perfectly and were very flavorful. The bun was nice and soft. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. The servers were friendly, and the burgers were whipped up in 5 minutes or so. The only downside, and I hope this is temporary, is that you can't eat inside. Parking is very limited as this place shares a lot with a large, well known coffee shop. The drive-thru line of cars from said coffee shop makes it also difficult to park and/or exit your parking spot. Nevertheless, this place is worth grabbing your burger to go and eating in your car. read more

Very good burger. Fast service. No place to really sit, so it's all take-out. I'll go back for more.

YUM!! I was so surprised by this place and their food... in a super positive way. The site isn't very special... typical strip mall location next to a Starbucks... maybe a little smaller. But the smells emanated from the door before you got in and made you instantly hungry and mouth watering. We ordered the Original OG, 2 patties. If you are accustomed to the larger meat patties at like Carl's Jr. or other burger places, I recommend three or four patties. It will not be too big... 2 patties is perfect, but if you are really hungry, order more patties. The burgers are delicious and not the same as any other fav place (ie. Five Guys, In and Out, Ox Bow, and others. We also ordered crispy crazy fries... delicious. And lastly a freshly made milkshake... smooth and easy to drink. The service was excellent and super friendly. The delivery was quick (within 7 minutes). The place was clean. This is a must try. I'm not saying you will like it because I liked it... try it for yourself. I would be surprised if you didn't love the flavor coming from this place. It will be my go to lunch place (maybe breakfast too). read more

First visit to Eat Crispy Burger and we're very pleased we decided to try it. We almost bailed due to lack of open parking spots and the long Starbucks line clogging up the driveway. Service was friendly and the burgers were awesome! We went with the OG and the grilled onions were a great topper, the brioche buns were soft and flavorful. Chocolate milkshakes were thick and creamy and complimented the burgers nicely. We will definitely be back! No photos of the food because we gobbled it up before thinking to take a pic. Currently no place to sit and eat inside or out but don't let that stop you from picking up burgers and shakes to go. read more

Stopped by this place on the way home thanks to my Fellow Yelpers:) This burger place (right off the freeway) is tucked in a small plaza next to a Starbucks with enough parking to grab and go. Menu is simple and you can choose # of patties. As first timers we ordered the OG Crispy Double & fries. Service was friendly and quick, burgers cooked just perfectly with crispy edges and were filling!!! Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back to try the onion rings and the shake. Prices are slightly higher than your typical burger joints but very tasty and fresh. The fries were also crispy thanks to avocado oil. Docked a star for the lack of seating indoors. read more

Small family business owned. Location is good. Right off the 5 but the parking and seating is small. It deserves a much larger space here in Cbad. The burgers are super tasty! Everything about this place was so lovely! I'm a very indecisive person, when i looked at the menu it was clear, concise, and very straight to the point which made it a lot easier for someone like me who can't make up their mind lol. The first time I came in, the woman who took our order was incredibly nice and she gave us some recommendations on what to get. We ordered the 'OG' Crispy double burger and oooooweeee it was so delicious. My best description for it would be a gourmet in-n-out burger that tastes twice as good and bigger in size. And don't get me started on this Oreo shake, might be one of the best shakes I've had so far. Will be back!!! read more
