Fred- Owner, Mike- Head Mechanic and the guys were awesome fixing my wife's 2017 GMC in 1- week!…read moreCalled the Owner Fred on a Friday and the Next morning He towed the truck back to his shop. Found out the Torque Converter had been wearing out for a while (clunking feel like bad u-joints at stop and go) and at just under 118K miles decided to finally give out slipping through gears sending metal throughout. Mike installed a better than OEM re-manufactured transmission along with Pump and Torque Converter. They could've stopped there, but they suggested to prevent from suffering the same problems in the future to re-program the Torque Converter lockup from the factory programmed lower gears (which increases MPG, but sacrifices longevity) to 5th and 6th gear. They ditched the GM 195 degree thermostatically controlled fluid circulation valve and installed a free flowing one to keep the Transmission fluid temps consistently 50+ degrees cooler (heat kills transmissions), programmed an increase in fluid line pressures to reduce wear on the clutches and deactivated the 4 to 8 cylinder shutdown programming that causes stress on the engine and transmission leading to other catastrophic failures ( we sacrifice a couple miles per gallon, but get piece of mind in the future longevity of the equipment). I was worried things would be broken in the process of working on the truck, but after inspecting it, these guys did a great job putting the exhaust, cross member, shift linkage and all the hardware back together with a 1-year/12,000 mile warranty. It's hard to find guys that do great work anymore. I wish them the best of luck in recently acquiring/consolidating their business in their new location at Airport Transmission. I have referred everyone I know that has a GM Pickup to at least go there and have the guys install the Transmission Fluid Bypass Valve along with reprogramming the transmission/engine prior to it deteriorating to the point of my wife's truck. It's upsetting General Motors sacrifices longevity of their product to gain a couple more miles per gallon in fuel mileage.

Finally figured out that the car had to be FULLY warmed up before it would move. Called the shop and was told the car was fine that every car needed to be warmed up. (Smh). Let them know to make a note that there were issues immediately. 16,000 miles and 3 months later (yes a bit over the warranty) the transmission went. Called the shop and they claimed to find the issue and fixed it and wanted me to pay $900. Two weeks later and After unnecessary and ugly going back and forth they agreed to take care of it "in good faith with no warranty." Not even 100 miles later the transmission went again which I'm assuming was "in good faith" also. Now in the beginning when they originally replaced the transmission, you'd like to believe you got a decent product and can get at least a year out of a transmission. Not here, they either clearly don't know what the hell they're doing or they are just blatantly robbing people seeing as how this seems to happen a lot given the reviews. Being a small business owner I was willing to deal with having to warm the work car up before it would move simply for the fact that I couldn't afford to be down that vehicle for another 2 long dragged out weeks waiting for a fix that shouldn't be needed in the first place. They insisted the car was fine and test driven before it was finished. You'd think they would've seen the gps tracker in the car that showed the "test drive" all of 0.6 miles. Stay far away from this place. They'll be out of business soon. Ended up having an awesome shop replace the transmission and will be recommending them to any and everyone who would like amazing service!

I brought my car over here this morning where I met with Chris Ditch who is the Ower of M.A.R.S. or Rochester Minor Autobody Repair and he was very friendly and helpful. He looked at my car and told me something about the Dodge Caliber that I didn't know. That the hinges breaking/snapping are extremely common in this model vehicle. Chris looked in his stock and found the part's needed to repair my car and looked at his calendar, I was hopeful it would be something that could be sometime soon because not being able to close the door all the way was keeping the inside light's on in the car and was draining from the battery. Thankfully Chris looked at his schedule and said he had time to do it right now, and he had one part and the other they will drop off shortly. They had the other part delivered and the car repaired better than new in only a few short hours. For anyone not familiar with a body shop a lot of times it could take a full day to complete the work but I was in and out and extremely satisfied with how I was treated and the quality of work that was performed on the car today. I highly recommend before you go to any other body shop's to start with M.A.R.S. of Rochester. Give them a call and ask for Chris. You won't be disappointed.

Tl;dr They don't stand behind their paint work which is not…read morevery good. I had the hood of a vehicle repaired painted in 2020 by MARS of Rochester. After having the hood painted my initial inspection found several inconsistencies in the paint which MARS of Rochester called fish eyes. They reassured me that this wasn't a problem. When I pushed to have the issue remedied I was told that it was a problem with improper surface prep. This communication was all done remotely with photos being sent. They then requested to see the vehicle. After trying to set something up I was told they are going to need a couple weeks "We're gonna need a couple weeks. The reason those happened are because there's moisture in the air lines. So if we paint it again now it'll happen again. We're installing an air conditioning unit in our air compressor which will take care of the problem" Over a month goes by with no response I reach back out and was reassured that those defects wouldn't be a problem and they didn't repaint my hood. Now the paint on the hood is peeling all around the spot the defect was repaired and where the "fish eyes" were. I reached back out and was told " That's totally fine. Like I said, we painted that hood over 2 years ago. We don't warranty work beyond 2 years, for the reason that many factors can contribute to paint coming off/peeling off of a car. Stone chips are the most common cause of that. The defects before were called fish eye. They happen when something gets trapped in the solvent. That was sanded completely and repainted. You can post a review if you'd like, but unfortunately since it has been 2 years there's nothing we can do free of charge. I thought we did. If we didn't it's because you didn't reach back out to set that up. Like I said, this isn't something we could fix free of charge due to the time frame. NYS requires work to be warrantied for 90 days after repair. We are well beyond that. Have a nice day." Not only does the story change multiple times about the paint job they don't even stand behind their work and redo it.

When you open the hood you can literally see the oil all over the engine bay and no oil in the car. When you put oil in it pours out. I explained this to the owner over the phone and he disagreed. He said that he has a 30 year airforce veteran mechanic that looked at it. The owner continued to say that he would be willing to put more time into the issue if we paid $500+ to replace the radiator. "Time is money" He continued to say. I explained that the vehicle was towed there so I would have to get it towed out if we did not fix the oil issue. I went to the garage to get the car towed out and brought him out to look at it. There was oil everywhere. It became obvious to me that know one had looked at my grandmothers car there. I said "I will just bring my grandmothers vehicle to a shop that will look at it" The owner responded by saying "Good we don't want your business here anyways time is money" Avoid this place at all costs.
