I asked AI to recommend a good plumber to do some work for me and I was given a list of several to consider. I noticed that Jeff @ Eastgate is a one man show so I narrowed down my decision to him and one other competitor. I've dealt with other plumbers before who did very good work. But they eventually built up their businesses by hiring other plumbers to work for them. When I've had work done by employee plumbers, I've not been happy with their work on a couple of occasions. I had one guy who replaced a drain pipe and I had to call him back the next day because the leaking pipe was next to the pipe he originally replaced. Even I could see the drip marks on the pipe that was really leaking! When I get repairs done I want to talk to the person that's going to do the work and let intuition be a big consideration. When Jeff came out and we chatted about what I wanted done at my front water supply. He struck me as a honest, knowledgeable and reliable person. And he made my decision very easy with a reasonable bid. My repairs got done today as scheduled and IMHO his work was very good. He arrived pretty much on time and got the job done pretty much within the estimated time. Can't really ask for more. Thanks Jeff! read more

For those who think they can DIY their way out of a plumbing issue.... this post is for you - it isn't worth your time or energy! Just do yourself a favor and call Jeff at Eastgate Rooter. I had a slow-draining bathtub on and off for the past year. I usually ignore the problem until I finally work up the courage to take out the drain stopper and see what im working with. A few months ago during a slow-draining episode, I did what everyone does and searched the internet. My online search pointed me multiple times to the clear solution for those of us who dont want harsh chemicals: a mixture of baking soda, salt, and vinegar, followed by hot water. I did as I was instructed by the online search results, and it worked! I felt accomplished. Cut to a few days ago... I had a slow-draining tub again. I had ignored it for about 2 weeks because it was still draining, just not efficiently. Pulled off the drain stopper and used a long plastic snake thing in an attempt to grab the inevitable tufts of hair mixed with all that other gross stuff. It was all superficial. Still slow draining. Then I decided to pull out the big guns and use my handy dandy baking soda/salt/vinegar/hot water trick. Well, it didnt work this time. The drain was now completely clogged. So I decided maybe it just needs a good plunge. I plunged and plunged, but nothing budged. My husband helped me bail water out of the tub. Another round of online search results suggested boiling water should do the trick! A few kettles of boiling water followed by plunging didnt do anything. I gave up and decided to try again after ignoring the problem for a few hours. Still hardly any water had drained. I decided maybe enough time had gone by and it loosened the clog. More plunging. Nothing. My handyman buddy came later that day and tried to snake it but it wasnt long enough. He said to call a plumber. Eastgate Rooter came up many times in my local WGG group so I gave Jeff a call and he fit me in. While waiting for him to arrive the next day, I still tried DIYing in hopes that I would clear it and then I'd tell Jeff I wouldnt be needing his services because I figured it out! I noticed water coming out through the overflow (I had to look up what all these holes were called) when i plunged so I searched online and a reddit user mentioned not having a good seal. I unscrewed the overflow plate and stuck a wet rag in the hole. i felt like this was really going to be the change I needed. I was wrong. Jeff showed up on time and was super efficient. He diagnosed the issue, fixed it, and was one his way in 20 minutes. I asked him how to prevent these issues in the future, and he recommended getting a catcher which can be found on Amazon. He was friendly and competent in his work. That's all you can ask for in a plumber. I love that he lives in our community as I always support local businesses whenever possible. Moral of the story for me is that I should leave plumbing to the professionals. Thanks, Jeff! read more

Jeff is awesome, and I will call him before I call anyone else. With an old house, I need more than repairs - I need solid advice, especially when NOT to do something. Jeff is very knowledgeable and honest - hard to find these days. Last time I called him he came out the same day and took care of my problem and two other things that needed to be addressed. I would definitely call Jeff again. I love supporting hard-working local small businesses. They especially love it when it's the better deal. We all need good quality work at a very fair price. at 8 pm my front yard sprinklers came on and then would NOT go off. my front yard was flooding! I called a couple of 'emergency plumbing' companies that said they did emergency calls but it seemed that I reached call centers and 'someone would call back'. I finally came across Eastgate Plumbing, spoke with Jeff and he came out in 30 minutes. he turned the water off at the 'main' and then troubleshot the sprinkler issue. he was able to make a run to Home Depot to purchase some 'caps' and then he cut off the faulty sprinkler part, capped it, and then was able to turn my water back on. The sprinklers stayed off! Jeff was timely, efficient, offered options, and went the extra step to doublecheck the backyard sprinklers to make sure that they Would turn off too. I highly recommend Jeff and this company! read more
