I learned about Spartan Rooter and it's owner Bill more than 10 years ago when we had an old faucet that was leaking at the business and a coworker recommended them. Bill completed that and subsequent repairs at that business and then at my home over the years all at reasonable labor rates. We were referred to Bill (Spartan Rooter) by a previous satisfied client, which they were referred to be another! If that wasn't enough to move forward with them, than the rest of our initial interaction definitely sealed the deal. After calling a half a dozen plumbers that either didn't pick up or weren't available within a reasonable timeframe, I came across Bill's info. The issue at hand, a pretty tough shower clog in our only restroom of the house -- hence time being of the essence. Bill not only answered, but said he would personally be out for the service himself and that we'd be the 2nd call that very next day. As promised, he called to confirm the service and ETA the morning of. And after some elbow grease and having to climb up on the roof, Bill was able to clear our drain in about 30 mins. Best service, best price! We have used Spartan for 25+ years, both in a rented home and now in our own home we purchased nextdoor. There are huge trees in the parkway lining our street and the roots cause havoc with the main line, so it needs to be cleaned out about once a year. They have also come out to clear the line for the washer drain as well, with the same prompt service - no job too big or small, and their prices have only slightly increased over the years, unlike many other businesses. Update 9/5/2017 Our older hot water heater (the budget one we purchased from Home Depot only eight years ago) went out so we called Spartan. Jeff came right out the next day and installed a new, high quality hot water at a reasonable price. I love this company. They are honest, fast, and their work is reliable. Our home is over 40 years old, and as expected, we have occasional sink and toilet clogs. We have used Spartan many times. -5 stars. NEVER AGAIN. My family, my husband's family, our friends and coworkers (that we have recommended Spartan Rooter to), have used Spartan Rooter for years. My great Uncle and Aunt, who are both 90-years-old!, are having their master bathroom remodeled. Today, a broken sewer pipe below their house was discovered. The remodeling company informed me that they do not fix broken sewer pipes but they can recommend a plumbing company that does. I initially declined, automatically wanting to give business to Spartan Rooters, who prior to today, had done the plumbing for everyone I know. I called and spoke to a Spartan Rooter representative regarding coming out and fixing the broken sewer pipe. The first question was location, Anaheim, which they service. The conversation continued in which I was spoken to in an insulting and condescending manner. He insulted the remodeling company, insulted me, and then declined the work and hung up on me. Let me emphasize that everything out of the representatives mouth other than his first question related to location, was insulting and condescending. I may be a woman and the Spartan Rooter representative may believe that women are automatically idiots related to anything considered a "man's" job, WHICH WE ARE NOT, but he will never receive business from me/my husband, our families, friends, and coworkers again! My husband was amazed that I was spoken to that way. So anyone out there who is looking for a plumber or plumbing company look elsewhere. As I write this review I can see several other reviewers that have mentioned giving 0 stars or in my case negative stars. Others mentioned they are the cheapest but I guess cheapest also equates to insulting and condescending. My husband & I recently bought our first home which was a BIG TIME fixer upper. Wish I could leave 0 stars!! They came out and snaked my drain from a vent on the roof, came within a few hours, only charged $45. THEN....a week and a half later it is raining and now we have a leak in the same area as the guy was working. Tried to call to ask if they could come look at it, the guy was SOOOO rude, the answer was no, and that it had nothing to do with what they did. My husband ended up going up in the rain to find that the flashing on the vent pipe was bent and that was where it was leaking. Sure, it was probably an accident, but he couldn't care less and didn't care to even consider they did it or do anything to make it right. I will NEVER use these idiots again! read more

The guy came to my house for a sink clog problem and left within 30 min. I had the same problem again after a few weeks. I called them all day long yesterday with no one answered and hang up before answering the call. Almost thought this was an one-time service company who has your phone # record and wouldn't answer you anymore one the job was done...poorly. I tried to call today and finally the lady answered with a bad attitude that is unwilling to resolve my problem. She forced me to choose between having some coming out to take a look for another charge and no service at all. The lady was saying they don't guarantee on their work. Later the guy called back and told me the same thing that basically they didn't want our business and didn't care reputation either. Both of them were extremely rude and unprofessional. No wonder they charge a relatively cheaper price. They would make a lot more money for the second time coming out, which made me think they did the service and left some problem on purpose to force you call them back again. I can't understand how this business exist with incompetency of work and bad service at the same time. Hope Yelp manage people's reviews carefully since someone could post a good review for a fee. read more

Incompetent, Rude, Irresponsible. Just three little words to describe Spartan Rooter. When my wife first talked to them on the phone, she was dismayed about how rude they were talking to her. However, it was an emergency and at the time, this plumber was the only one, locally, that she knew about. When the plumber arrived, trudging filth back-and-forth through our house, he got up on the roof to go through the main toilet vent pipe to clear flooding in our home due to a backed up sewer. In doing so, he removed a screen from the top of my vent pipe I had placed to keep bugs and debris out, throwing it to the side of the roof and not replacing it. Then, he took my TV antenna which was attached to the vent pipe and forcibly twisted it 90° off axis and did not return it to its original position. I didn't realize it until I checked my DVR for some shows I was taping and there was nothing but noise recorded. To top it all off, our house flooded again. Now we have to find a real plumber. read more
