Not a whole lot of selection for a Chinese buffet in Columbia, but this one was just ok. First let me start out with the sushi (main reason I wanted to go here), the rice was extremely bland tasting, but the inside of the sushi was perfect. The rest of the buffet was about average. This place has been a staple of the area for years. The price has continued to increase though, and it seems the quality has been hit or miss. It's now $30 for two people without tip. The worst part is that the children's age is super low as my 10 was charged as an adult. The service is basic and heaven forbid you go in late. The bar has missing items at 8 pm but they close at 9:30. Soy sauce removed from the tables for refilling early. It's ok for a buffet but the price doesn't match the quality. I love this place, hands down the best tasting food in the world. As well as Happy China on Sunset Blvd. that they also own. It was funny because I just found out they owned both of these restaurants. Wasn't expecting a good experience since growing up I loved Chinese buffets but as an adult all the ones I tried always grossed me out--sticky booths and dead flies on window sills and just grimy. But my husband and I decided to try Eastern Buffet and then I remembered an old friend from work used to rave about this one. It was awesome! It might have had to do with the time we went. It was Saturday but it seemed to be before the rush. It was about 6:15. So that probably helps! We didn't have to wait and all the food was fresh and full and hot. The sushi was great! It's never going to be the same as a roll from a sushi restaurant but on the scale of sushi it was pretty good for buffet. Most everything I tried was so good. Fried rice wasn't very good but it was edible, just didn't have that browned fried rice texture. The honey chicken and general tsos were really tough though and weird potsticker. But my faves were Mongolian pork, hibachi chicken, rice noodles, cheese wontons, the veggies, one of the sushi rolls was really good. Crab croissant is really rich but delicious. Chinese donuts of course and their frozen yogurt is oddly amazing. They have a really nice selection and it is clean. I have been here several times before. I thought I had already wrote a review. I guess not. This restaurant stands up to most all buffett meals. Prolly one of the best. Oysters, shrimp, and frog legs. Just to name a few. The sushi was very fresh as well as other foods. Lots of choice, but a little more costly than I expected. The price keeps getting higher every time we go. $13.95 for dinner. Lunch is the best value, $7.95 I think. It's worth it if you eat alot. The wait staff nice and polite. Best buffet in Lexington! They have a full time sushi chef and full time hibachi chef. You pick the ingredients and they will make it on the spot. Buffet food tastes great and is always fresh! We were passing through on I20 and found it on Yelp. Not far from the interstate. Easy to find, not a congested area either. My husband is rather picky about the temperature of the food, most of it was piping hot. Only a couple of things were not hot to his liking but were fine to me. Lots of variety. Not too greasy like some places you find. Place looks new, plenty of space. Two long tables of hot food, one large table cold items, ice cream. Hibachi grill made to order, and sushi. Had something that was unbelievable there, it was a coconut tart. One of the best things I have ever had. Had all the usual items you see at a Chinese restaurants and some unique things like fried blue crab, shrimp and corn. Staff were not friendly but not rude, almost like robots. The food was OK but the service was horrible. My wife and I looked on their website and the website side that kids eat for free and we still got charged for are children. When I confronted the manager, she got an attitude and told me that they don't let kids eat free at that "Eastern buffet", the other Eastern buffets do. When I told her that it don't say that on the wedsite she told me in her own words "that's no me problem, that's you problem". I told her that is false advertisement. I've been to 2 other Chinese buffets and this one is the best, so far. There are about two buffet bars with regular food and sides, a sushi buffet bar, dessert buffet bar and ice cream machine. This was my first time and I took a small sampling of most items. I found that most items were good, the egg roll wasn't not as good as most. It wasn't overly greasy but kind of seemed like the dough wasn't completely done. There was a lot of chicken on the menu as well as fish but I only remember seeing one or two dishes with beef or pork and noodles. There wasn't a lot of interaction with the staff, they kept the table clean but kind of seemed to be going through the motions of working there. Sushi was decent not like you went to a sushi restaurant quality but like a fast food quality. It wasn't bad and some of it was good. Buffet is about $10 with tax and no carbonated beverage. My husband and I decided to go out tonight with our two young daughters. We have not been there since last year, and we remembered it was very good last time. However, the air conditioning was not working and the thermostat was reading 84, but we figured it would be okay. However, once the steam from the buffet and the grills came into play with no air conditioning, I felt sick. It was like a sauna and extremely uncomfortable. I asked the girl at the front if I could just get a plate to take home, because I could not eat in the restaurant. She was very nice and understanding. She handed me a to-go box and explained that their air conditioning had broken late in the day and they could not get anyone to come out and fix it. I fixed a plate and we went to pay our bill. The cashier said I could not take the to-go box out of the restaurant without paying for it (plus the cost of the dine-in buffet I could not enjoy) and it did not matter to her that I could not eat because of the hot temperature in there. I told her it was 84 degrees in there and that I had already asked another employee (who was standing right beside her) and she still said no food could leave the restaurant without paying for the to-go plate. She was talking to me like I was trying to steal the food and I gave up. I got upset, handed her the to-go box, and left the restaurant in tears. read more
