After reading several mixed reviews, we decided to give this place a try . Both my wife and I agree that the quality of the seafood was excellent. My only complaint was that I ordered chicken tenders to go along with my fried fish. They were overcooked and a bit dry. The restaurant also did not offer traditional BBQ sauce ? I mean even Carolina sauce would be awesome! We received stellar service tonight from Kaitlyn in the bar area. She went out of her way to answer all of our questions. The best features of Catch are the prices/portions, the variety of the menu and service. My diner--Salmon Rockefeller, served over grits with slaw was just $22. The most expensive item on the Signature entrée menu is the fried shellfish platter at $30. I ordered fried okra as a side and was not disappointed. You have your choice of a variety of baked or fried seafood offerings. My wife opted for her go-to --crab cakes, which were served with a sweet potato purée, hush puppy logs and slaw. I sampled the crab cakes, and they were well prepared with a decent amount of crab. Our friends enjoyed their platters of jumbo fried shrimp and fried oysters. And for those so inclined, there is a raw bar. Catch may be one of the best seafood restaurant in the Columbia area. The portions are ample, well prepared, and reasonably priced. VERY DISAPPOINTED.... they had very nice large shrimp but after I had bitten into one and the poop chute was still in it just turned my stomach. All of the shrimp had NOT BEEN DEVEINED NOR WAS THE POOP CHUTE REMOVED !! The waiter said all of the shrimp are like that. You would think for the reputation that they had they would serve a better product. Maybe the people just like eating that.... The food is so good here. I usually get the broiled shrimp and the scallops. They have all you can eat crab legs on Tuesday's. They are quick at refilling your cup and the food is fresh tasting and hot. The staff comes around often to check in. It's frequently busy here so make sure you plan for a 20 minute wait to get seated. The flavors and seasonings are good. Also the shrimp crab dip is delicious. We have eaten at Catch numerous times and every time the food is consistently good with large portions. There are numerous fried combinations you can opt to try or build a fried or broiled combination for yourself. The meals all are served with coleslaw and hush puppies. The coleslaw is tasty as the dressing is not overly heavy or too much. The hush puppies have a nice consistency and flavor. Fries, baked potatoes or vegetables are a few options for your side. The crab and shrimp dip appetizer comes with pita crisps for dipping and is not runny but a nice dipping consistency. It is so good. We have had their steaks which have been cooked properly to temp requested. The fried seafood or broiled is so good. Scallops and shrimp have been broiled to perfection as well as when ordered fried. The salads are large and you can even add shrimp salmon or chicken. Would love the option to add steak to the salad but the chicken and shrimp has been good when tried Order a cocktail or non alcoholic drink of choice. Food was hit or miss per each item. Some things were fresh while others seem stale and not so fresh. The service was good as our server was attentive except for bringing us to a dirty table. The menus were sticky which is also a red flag. The ambience is nice but not as pristine as you'd expect for their prices. The first red flag was the signage not being well maintained and then near the host stand the dessert counter looked dated and not well stocked. The fish basket was a very large serving but a little too greasy. I'd heard great things about the place and can see the potential. I hope that maybe I caught them at a bad time. This week I priced restaurants in Charleston, Columbia and Lexington, SC. It seems compared to Lexington, Charleston is 3x more expensive and Columbia is 2x more expensive. We ate at CATCH in Lexington, SC yesterday. A huge seafood platter was $22 with a hush puppies, cole slaw and a side. A 12Oz Ribeye Steak is $24 and our waitress was wonderful. The Greek Salad included about a 3-4oz of Feta Cheese and was wonderful. So 2 complete meals, 2 extra sides and 2 bar drinks were $70. In Charleston one Steak would have been that and our waitress was wonderful. read more

Ive eaten here before when it was another name, its been 4yrs, conveniently located on Main St wth good free parking. Upon entering we were greeted with kindness and taken to our table. The waitress was on point the entire evening. The restaurant has been upgraded with a new bar/ tv screens. I was shocked at the transformation of Catch Seafood! The waitress was very attentive, good customer service skills, We ordered the fried green tomatoes, fried seafood platter, and one boiled seafood platter. So, in case you're new to my reviews, I grew on the coast of SC. My wife and I grew up eating seafood in Murrells Inlet. It was the seafood capital of SC for many years. I know good seafood when I find it. This is a very clean and quiet restaurant. Booth seating. They are roomy enough for four, the tables are wall mounted, no wobbling or knocking knees! Cozy for a couple side by side roomy for two face to face. The service was great. The staff is very polite and professional. Our server, Alexis, was very attentive and polite. We got the fried mushrooms with ranch as an appetizer. Served piping hot in a boat shaped basket. Seasoned well. We enjoyed it. We both ordered the broiled seafood platter. Everything was hot and seasoned well. The fish was flaky and fresh. The scallops and shrimp were very good. I'm not big a fan of clams, but their stuffed clam was awesome. It won me over. The stuffed crab was great as well. The hush puppies are finger shaped and light, fluffy and tasty. We both liked the sweet tea, very important detail for southern dinners. This dinner was to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary. This will be our go-to seafood restaurant for the future. I definitely recommend The Catch in Lexington for reasonable & well prepared seafood with excellent service. I've had their food 4 times now and have yet to be disappointed. The every day special can't be beat. It's a mound of shrimp, a flounder fillet, a deviled crab, 5-6 hush puppies, slaw and a side for $15! Missed out on selling appetizers as a result. Then could not seat our party of seven at a round table for five even though eight could've set around the table. And then would not allow a chair to partially be in an aisle to a room that wasn't even open to customers so we could all sit comfortably together. The food was mediocre at best and excessively salty in everyone's opinion! Shrimp and grits have got to be among the worst in town. Stuffed shrimp tasted frozen. Found this hard to believe since there were hardly any customers there. Even after complaining that food wasn't warm there was no discount offered or apology. Just a hey do you want me to heat that up for you? Was hoping to find a good place in Lexington close to home but was extremely disappointed. When asked if they did something special for birthdays they said no. My fish was clearly frozen, and my broiled shrimp was tough and heavily overcooked. I got the Alaskan white fish. Her flounder was alright, and wasn't frozen. We ordered a lb of snow crab legs which were very good. Overall would give a 6 out of 10 because the entrees just weren't that good. The crab stuffed shrimp was good. My wife ordered a hamburger. It was cooked just right, but the lettuce and tomato was under the meat and the heat made it soggy. The waitress put a red squeeze bottle on the table. We both assumed it was ketchup and put it on her burger and my hush puppies. It was cocktail sauce and ruined the burger. The waitress said the burgers didn't come with any mayo, mustard or ketchup and most customers eat them without. The undercooked scallops ruined my appetite. I don't think we will return for another meal. The waitress acknowledged she should have told us it was cocktail sauce and brought a napkin for my wife to wipe it off. read more

The Catch used to be our favorite go to seafood place. So disappointed recently. The oysters were good. Then it all went downhill. My catfish was undercooked. They don't have the broccoli anymore so I settled for what they called mixed veggies - green beans, carrots, cauliflower mush!! Sent it back for baked potato which was good. However my popcorn shrimp was not hot or crunchy as well as the hush puppies. I asked for manager who told me they have new cook. Really?? Why not trained? She offered food to go since we were done. I didn't want anything but agreed to popcorn shrimp. I said no potato. But I got one anyway which was only half cooked! I threw the rest away. My friend who joined us got over cooked broiled shrimp! My daughter, her husband and my grandchild were there before me, seated with the promise of a server coming to take their order. After I arrived, we waited another 10 minutes but no one came to take our order, not even a drink order. There was a female bussing a table that kept looking over to us but never came over.
