During a recent trip to Columbia, my family and I ordered take out from Peking Wok and boy were we ever surprised and delighted with our decision. We were wanting something familiar and filling - so Chinese take out fit the bill. Living in Honolulu, Hawaii, we've become accustomed to higher prices and smaller portions. So when we ordered, our Honolulu brains assumed the prices reflected the portions size . . . WE WERE VERY WRONG. We also assumed each entrée equalled one adult portion. Wrong again. Entrée sizes were MUCH larger than we assumed and definitely fed more than one adult. Needless to say, we ordered WAY too much food and had leftovers for DAYS. Fortunately, the food was flavorful. Hopefully, you like saucy dishes as they were very generously sauced. Definitely, NOT authentic Chinese food. 100% Americanized. If you're looking for orange chicken, kung pao chicken, mongolian beef, etc. then you've come to the right place. Since we called in our order, the wait time was minimal and extremely efficient. The counter person was pleasant and welcoming, and gave us extra soy sauce and other condiments. We go here every few weeks. Food is always hot and fast. We don't inside, take out only for us. There are a few tables, but not really quaint enough to sit and eat. There are too many kids coming in and out after school hours, especially Fridays. Recommend Kung Pao chicken, Orange chicken, excellent lo main, wish they would add more vegetables to vegetarian dishes like veg mei fun and veg lo mein. read more

Their Vegetable Bean Curd soup is always good tasting with fresh vegetables. Vegetable Buddhist Delight without Mushrooms also tastes good. We ordered VEGETABLE FRIED RICE NO EGGS. They gave us FRIED RICE WITHOUT VEGETABLES. That too tasted too SALTY..! In confirmed twice with them. they randomly giving out Take Out Orders in open cardboard box where any spill can result in messing your clothes, car seats if it seeps from cardboard box crevices/holes. This is the only restaurant that gives cardboard boxes for take out orders! I never had any other restaurant do this. read more

Our family has been eating at this restaurant since it opened. Although they have pretty much eliminated the dine-in option, they have maintained the most consistently delicious menu! Ambiance The place looks like a typical Chinese Spot it's not luxury looking but It doesn't have bugs crawling everywhere either. 3. To Go Spot & Nothing More It's a to go spot. Order was placed in store and the mushroom chicken that I ordered was freshly prepared. Didn't have to wait very long. Got home, opened the lid and was in awe of how good it looked. This is our go to spot for Chinese food. The wings are great, orange chicken, beef and broccoli and their rice.

The portions are huge but the service was not great. We spent almost $100 for take out. One of my kids was thirsty and i asked for a cup for some water while we were waiting. The lady said they don't have cups of water and I would need to buy a bottle water! Most of the plate was rice. My daughter ordered shrimp and broccoli. There was 4 pieces of shrimp and everything else was broccoli. They should rename it broccoli with shrimp or that's the way they serve it. They also squeezed 5 styrofoam take out containers into one plastic bag. Seriously???? And definitely can taste they put msg in their food. We WONT be going back again. read more

Today I visited the peking wok on hardscrabble. Wow, ate a little of the egg food young it was shrimp with bone in ribs. It had me in the restroom fir over a hour. Whst a rip off. This restaurant (?) does the unthinkable and I am extremely serious when I say it is egregious that a food source for customers is a serious liability. I ordered chicken wings from this establishment and did not follow my normal practice of surveying the food before I leave a restaurant. Nevertheless, when I arrived home and opened the container what I saw was unacceptable and an insult to my being. The chicken wings were horrible to look at, because, it was apparently from another day. Needless to say I have found this practice prevalent among "most" Asian establishments. Rather than discarding the food they elect to save it for another day and pass it on to unsuspecting customers. I did not return to Peking Wok in my state of mind, because, choice words would have spewed out of mouth and the "garbage" they gave me to consume would have been returned in the hope that they gave it to their families to consume. I angrily tossed the order in the trash and made up my mind to go to this restaurant and hope it occurs again. I will save their "slop" and present it to the appropriate agency along with my complaint. If they can serve this "mess" to an adult I know when the children from the high school go to Peking Wok on their breaks are being subjected to the same. This is no occasional occurrence, this is standard procedure I'm sure. If you decide to cater to this place, consider yourself forewarned and inform your children to be vigilant and inspect their food before departing. read more

I always enjoy the food from the restaurant located on hardscrabble Road sometimes some of the food tastes a little old because degrees they're cooking things in maybe past its prime. But I do enjoy their sesame chicken and white rice and fried wontons. read more

Saturday afternoon to order two general tso specials. I was in and out in less than five minutes. I asked for extra sauce and that's just what I got. The tables were clean and the AC was cool. Definitely not the BEST Chinese food in Columbia however if you are a local maybe it is! Greasy food almost to a non edible state... service is decent ... I had vegetable lomein first I tried to distinguish what type of cheap spaghetti looking noodles that were in my dish secondly I had to search for a taste! Totally terrible! Well they were our go to place for Beef and Broccoli, because the meat was so lean and tender, but the last two or three times we ordered it we have been disappointed. It looks almost the same, but the beef seems like it is covered in a fatty film. It makes it taste rubbery and you don't taste the beef as well. First of all the fried rice has a weird color but I decided to give it a try. The chicken can't possibly be chicken. It was pale and had a disgusting texture. It was like gelatin. The food is AWEFUL. I literally ordered food from their that stunk up my car and we hadn't even dug in. They are also inconsistent when it comes to price. My daughter and her friend went to purchase honey fries (ewww) and they normally pay $2.50 for the Small ALWAYS. When they went back, a man tried to charge my daughter $2.75 and call it "tax". Best Chinese in Columbia, I prefer over well known restaurants like Sun Ming. Have been eating at Peking for over a year and food is always fresh. You should always call in advance on Fridays because they get very crowded. I did not like steamed dumplings until I tried theirs and they are always great.
