Crab Fried Rice was only ok
    Dianne C.

My waiter was nice. I give him a 5/5. The ambience fell short of a 3 because as you can see in the pics I posted, updates and basic maintenance goes a long way on experience. But I'm really rating the restaurant at is a 2 on food. It's not quality ingredients and it's not fresh. My Thai tea tasted so weird but I drank it anyways, because I've been craving it for the longest now. The soup was so salty and literally burned my taste buds. With the few I had left, the seafood stir fry and crab rice was a solid 3. Mango sticky rice, which is my favorite did not hit the spot this time. The taste was just off. I'll be trying a different Thai restaurant next time

Great Thai spot! The Thai tea was creamy, the Tom Kha was coconutty and the Pad Thai was made with tamarind paste the fresh shrimp roll had mint and Thai basil in it which was absolutely delicious. Service was attentive and kind! Next time I plan on trying their Pho and Massamun curry

Great thai restaurant located in SE Columbia just off Garners Ferry Road. Friendly and hospitality staff with a diverse menu, ranging from Salads, Traditional Thai and Curry dishes, Pho, and Sushi. Meals are prepared to order and are served quickly. Plain interior decor but the food is certainly memorable. Chef prepared a special dish for us this evening of Eggplant and Shrimp. The Thai Basil Sauce was perfectly spiced and had a subtle sweetness to it. Eggplant and Shrimp were also perfectly cooked. The Chicken Veggie was loaded with a variety of vegetables and had a light brown sauce. Both dishes were served with white rice. Looking forward to returning whether that be for a sit down meal or a take out order

House Combo Pad Thai with brisket, meatballs and beef

Our ROMEO group of seven went here today. Arrived around 11:25 and the waitress brought out water and took our drinks. We had thee orders of the House Combo Pho, and order of Shrimp Pad Thai, Pad Kra Tiem, Hibachi Chicken and one other dish. The Pho was excellent. Broth is very tasty and the fresh bean sprouts, jalapeño peppers, lime served on the side really made it special. It was loaded with brisket, beef and meatballs. All three rated it as a 5.0. The Pad Kra was ordered with a spiciness of 3 out of 4 and he added some additional spice at the table which brought it up. Everyone enjoyed the food and the ratings were all 5.0 with one 4.6. By 12:15 it really was starting to get crowded with customers along with people coming in to pick up orders. Great restaurant and great food. One of our favorites!

Wow. I'll start by saying I've NEVER had a bad experience when physically eating at this restaurant but takeout is, unfortunately, another story. (Though, to be fair, I haven't eaten at the restaurant in about a year.) I ordered two plates of hibachi, curry, and two sushi rolls for dinner. Curry itself is always great. However, the rice tonight was basically congealed. From the sushi rice, to the hibachi rice, it was all overcooked. The sushi was, and I promise I say this with a heavy heart, not able to be eaten. Hibachi seemed to be cooked in only soy sauce. Again, I have had really positive experiences at this restaurant (and have raved about it to friends and family) but tonight just really threw me off.

Khop Jai Lai Lai! This is truly a laos restaurant....if you are looking for authentic, yummy and real laos food. This is it. I ordered the cucumber salad larb gai, and laos sausage. She has amazing herbs in her food just like how our mothers cooked these dishes. (In true lao giving culture) Sister Chin, gave me complimentary papaya salad.

    Shrimp & Chicken Pad Thai

I tried Lotus Thai Dining today for the first time. I ordered the Shrimp & Chicken Pad Thai. It was absolutely deeeelicious! Very flavorful. Sweet, Spicy & better than the Pad Thai I've had in the past I will be returning to Lotus.m in Garners Ferry Rd. In Columbia, SC. I'm looking forward to trying many more of their menu items.

    Lotus Fried Rice With Chicken

Ordered pick up from Lotus Thai because mainly because I was craving Thai and I wanted good Thai, and their reviews are amazing so I decided to place a pick up order through the phone. It took about an hour for the order to be ready. We ordered the lotus fried rice with a medium spice and chicken, the hibachi shrimp and steak with fried rice, spring rolls, and wings. The wings were cooked well where they were not too crispy for the ones that do not care for the crispy wings but crispy enough where the people that do go for crispy wings could be satisfied. The vegetable spring rolls were pretty tasty. They are small, but they were also fried well. The lotus fried rice was really good, but it was spicy! I definitely underestimated their spice levels. The rice was fluffy and fried with a great taste. The amount of chicken in the rice was fair. The hibachi shrimp and steak was cooked well with good flavor. They gave a pretty good amount of steak pieces but only three shrimp. There were onions and mushrooms in the mix, a couple or small pieces of broccoli and a couple of zucchini strips. The fried rice came in a separate container as it is an additional charge of $3. The amount of rice was good. It was also cooked well. It came with a fried egg which is always a give or take for me. They offered white sauce, chili sauce, spicy sauce, and duck sauce. The interior was clean and enough space to be comfortable eating in. Parking is plentiful as it is in the same shopping center as Dollar Tree neighboring Walmart. Their customer service was pretty good. Their prices seems aligned with today's rate of items, and the portions are fairly decent except for the three shrimp.

My wife and I were visiting some friends in Columbia, SC and we decide to have dinner at Lotus Thai Dining. I was in for the biggest treat when I ordered the Green Curry with beef. The portion was huge and loaded with delicious ingredients such as green chilies curry paste, coconut milk, eggplants, bell peppers, mushrooms, and Thai basil. This was one of the best green Thai curries I have ever had. As a bonus, they were able to accommodate the dish to my spice-level liking, which is Thai hot. My wife ordered the Massaman Curry, which was massive too, but not the best we've ever had. Don't get me wrong, the quality was good, but there was too strong of a cinnamon and pineapple-like taste, which is weird because I'm pretty sure it doesn't have pineapple in it. We prefer Massaman to be heavier on the peanut flavor. That being said, the curry's flavor was more balanced when she added a little chile paste to it. The ambiance was very comfortable and calm making for a relaxing meal. Our waiter was phenomenal too with his attentive service. All in all, Lotus Thai Dining offered up a wonderful dining experience and we will definitely be back when we are in Columbia, SC again.

    Fuji apple sake

Lotus Thai is one of my favorite restaurants since moving to Columbia last year. The atmosphere gives a very "fast food" Asian vibe but it's a nice setting to dine in. The server, Adam has been my server almost every time (not sure if he remembers) but he's been awesome every time. I always get Pad Thai (no scallions and no peanuts) and spice level is 2. It wasn't that spicy this time but still very delicious. They had the bean sprouts and chicken cut so big so it was hard to eat a bit. I also had chicken and shrimp spring rolls, ultimate crab roll which are both very good. The spring rolls were so crispy and seasoned perfectly. My bf got the chicken pad kraw pow (sp?) And and added beef. It was so saucy and tender. I think I liked the beef more. All in all still my favorite and will be going back. Make sure to try to fuji apple sake. You won't be disappointed!

The atmosphere was amazing, a cozy quaint spot in a what seemed to be a great part of the city. The bar was nice and overall decor of the restaurant was eclectic without feeling overdone. Our server (I believe her name was Havvy), was pleasant as well. We started with the crab rangoons and spring rolls. The crab rangoons were a 10/10, and the spring rolls were solid as well. I'd definitely order both again. I ordered the pad kapow, which is my go-to dish I like to start with at any new Thai restaurant. The presentation of the rice was really cute and the dish itself was rich and full of flavor. My husband ordered the pineapple fried rice with beef, it was phenomenal, just as flavorful and satisfying. We ordered cocktails as well, which were made perfectly, and since it was our anniversary, we treated ourself to the coconut cake. After the first bite, I wasn't sure about the cake, but by the second bite I was SOLD. If you're looking for a laidback, non-pretentious spot to enjoy a great meal, cocktails or even just a small bite, I definitely recommend.

We were confused when we arrived because it was more like a house than a restaurant, but the interior was nicely designed like a small Thai restaurant. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and I ordered the shrimp tom yum soup and fried tofu pad thai, while my partner ordered the three flavored duck. The tom yum soup came out and it was lackluster. The flavor wasn't bad, but it wasn't as sour or flavorful as other tom yum soups I've had. There were maybe 2-3 baby shrimp in the bowl and they were overcooked and rubbery. After the soup, it took forever for our food to come out, close to 35 minutes. When our food finally came out, the duck plate was beautiful and I was surprised to see wide noodles with the pad thai. The flavor of the noodle itself was good but a little dry, and you could tell that the fried tofu had been pre-made and was just sitting out. It was not warm or crispy and I was disappointed after having to wait that long. Although the duck was delicious! To top it off, our server took soooo long to attend to us. We would see her talking at the bar with other customers while waiting to get a to-go box, waiting to get our check, and then waiting to pay our check. We were there for an unnecessarily long time and it made our patience wear thing. The food was good but not the best. Service was terrible so we probably won't be coming back.

The 4 main flavors of Thai cuisine are sweet, salty, sour & spicy, and the balance of each component, along with the texture- makes for an explosion in your mouth. We weren't expecting the food to taste the same, knowing that many restaurants & vendors change their food to cater to the American palette, but we expected the food to be good. The line was long, and we were excited while we waited. I spoke to 6 or 7 people in line, but they were all newbies like us. I noticed that some of the food looked as if it had been sitting under the heat lamps for a while (the fried chicken & the sad looking calamari that Joel thought were onion rings!) so we bypassed those altogether- knowing that the Thai have some of the best chicken wings in the world. Seriously! Look it up. We ordered: Pork belly fried rice: Joel said the pork was just okay & the fried rice didn't taste Thai at all. Veggie spring rolls: full of veggies - but were salty, lacked texture, and the chili sauce fell completely flat. Chicken pad Thai w/ medium spice: taste like sugar. Not tamarind, not spice, just sweet sugar. I always ask for extra lime & bean sprouts because I love the extra sour kick of the lime & the crunch of the bean sprouts, but I was only able to eat 2 bites because it was horrible, I felt like my blood sugar was going to go thru the roof! Thai iced coffee: horrible. I don't understand how they could even imagine calling this coffee. Unfortunately, this has been the worst meal we've had in Columbia so far, and I'm deeply sad because although it's street food, we expected it to be one of our best meals. And to the business owners, please do not reply with a comment stating how many people line up at your food stall every Saturday. They're probably new rather than repeat customers, or maybe they don't know what authentic Thai food should taste like. So please, I'm begging you, give us the food that you all cook in your kitchens at home, the food that you feed your own families. I promise, the people will love it!
