It's my first time stepping into this centre, a strip mall with all the necessities in one area, like Food Basics, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Dollarama. It's right across the street from the Costco on Overlea Blvd. It can get busy, and they had a vaccination clinic when I was there. I can't say it's a place you would want to stay for long. It's a little dingy and has a retro feel like I'm walking into 80's. However, I can see if I live nearby, it would be a one-stop to get a lot of errands done. From the brief visit, I saw an indoor food court with some fast food stores open, independent tech/cellphone repair stores, shoe repair, a plant store and other lower-end cheap clothing (ie. cheap knock-offs). read more

Unfortunately not a very pleasant place to visit. :( This "town center" has a bunch of little shops inside, but many of them are not worth looking at. There are clothes shops, cell phone shops, food stops, and stores with household items (but not very nice). We were in and out so fast after using the restrooms and going to the bubble tea shop. read more

This is the sketchiest mall I've ever been to and I've been to DUFFERIN MALL. Nails 4 You was an awful rip off and terrrrrrrible service. I went to a clothing shop that "forgot" to remove my security tag. I went to buy a lucky charm and the lady shouted out prices to me that were wayyyyy more expensive than what the sticker said (ripoff) and A GUY ACTUALLY FOLLOWED ME INTO THE GYM TO BUY FROM HIS STORE. I was on a machine, WORKING OUT and he came in and asked me when I was coming back to his store to buy. HE TOLD ME I BURNED ENOUGH CALORIES and I should get there by a certain time. UHHHHH. I've never seen someone DO THE MOST TO THAT DEGREE before. unreal. Seriously EYTC. It's bad enough that the gym there doesn't have DRINKING WATER (other than bottled water for sale) there are way too many people loitering at the entrances, smoking, not giving a damn about where they blow that smoke outta their faces.. pfft. YUK. So much meh in this mall. 2 stars and this is a probationary rating. read more

Even though there are many one star or two stars reviews, I do not find the mall that bad. Real Estate prices in this neighborhood go up a lot recently and there are starbucks and costco now. There is a nice Japanese version a dollar store(even though they sell all items at $2.25). There is also Dallarama. The food court is not fancy, but those food shops in the food court are inexpensive and tasty (especially Indian food). It's a good place for retiree to hang out. read more

This mall is very basic. It has little to offer. I agree with one reviewer the Food Basics is one of the most disgusting I've ever seen. It's terrible. They are also always under staffed so be prepared to wait for ever in long lines. The Dollar Store is decent and much better since the revamp. Now you don't have to walk down the stairs. The LCBO is not well stocked but it's a nice convenience. I like the Japanese Dollarstore, it's very cool and they offer some nice, unique items. There is a Shoppers Drugmart but this place is always understaffed too. The only good thing about it is the pharmacy which is well managed. Otherwise this mall has very little to offer. It is a community mall that is trying to slowly overhaul and look better! I think they'll get there within the next 10-15 years if the place is still standing. read more

Lived in the high rises on Thorncliffe Park for about 11 years, only blocks away from EYTC. This mall was reasonably good during the Zellers and BiWay days, however those are long gone. Rent is so much, stores just can't stay open. Dominion turned into Food Basics and this particular location is the most disgusting I've ever seen. Crummy stores, only place crowded here is the walk-in clinic. Even McDoald's closed shop and ran off. Wish they'd shut this mall down. read more

Came here with my husband as he'd like to have a chat with the staff at Thorncliffe Dental so I hung around here a bit. Turned out this was a depressing visit. I actually do not mind ghetto malls. Yet this one makes me very uncomfortable. Even for a neighbourhood mall it is not that good. Most stores are messy and the staff do not seem too happy working there. The mall layout is strange. They put some stores in the middle of the building; yes, stores, not kiosks. Never saw such arrangements except for flea markets. Dollarama, which I believe most local resident like to visit, is located on the lower floor. As is the bathroom. I have no idea what the mall used to be like, but right now looks like it is set up in a way that is not very considerate towards people with disabilities. According to my husband, Thorncliffe Dental Clinic here, is very nice but I guess that is about it. If you come here, be prepared to be welcomed by a bunch of sketchy people loitering around the building. read more

This is a neighbourhood shopping centre. 2 stars for its outdated design and layout. This is certainly not a place for fancy shopping. I add a half star for its spaciousness and variety types of shops. It is good enough for a neighbourhood shopping need, as well as for those who work nearby! read more

My first thought about this place is that the management simply does not want to succeed. Rumour has it, rent is incredibly high. So, you see good stores closing left, right and centre, and empty "to lease" spaces to take their place for months or years. The food court has about 5 choices, maybe 1 or 2 being of the edible variety. The washrooms are clean, but tucked away in the basement. I think they are aspiring to make this into a glamourized flea market.. each new store that opens is yet another collection of junk. The clothing stores are of one-wear quality, except for Turquoise - amazing stuff, but it appears they're closing down now too. The only places worth going in this mall are: Turquoise (if you can catch it before it leaves), Veronese Hair Salon, and Bill's Farm (great fresh produce). Really, I feel bad for the vendors here. I don't think they're given a very good opportunity to succeed, as it doesn't seem much work has been put into re-vamping the centre or drawing any crowds in. read more

This is the type of mall you go in your pajamas. Mostly because all other people are also dressed in pajamas too. Here no one cares how you look and the stores have no expectations of the clients either. read more

The anchor store in this mall, the Zellers, is closing, which doesn't do much for the atmosphere right now. It's possible that a new anchor could revitalize the place a little bit. In the meantime my favourite thing about the East York Town Centre is the food choices in the middle of the mall. You can get great cheap Indian food at Shahi Rasoi and many of the other food booths look intriguing as well. A big plus is a bowling alley, which I haven't investigated yet but could probably be fun. read more

Despite the current state of this mall, with the Zellers recently closing (and replaced by Target next Spring) and the washrooms happening to be downstairs, I generally like this mall for a one-stop shopping place. Not too big, not too small, doable in about 2 hours even if you have to stop at several stores. While there are some trashy stores, there are some good ones too. The Dollarama there, though sometimes busy, usually has what I need or want and I'm looking for. The LCBO is convenient if I need to pick up alcoholic beverages, for my husband and our guests who drink, even though I don't drink alcohol. The Prince Electronics store is a good place for decent to good quality items at prices somewhat lower than Futureshop. The Carlton cards is good too. The International Clothiers is really good there too. The Cheri's women's clothing store there often has good quality items for great prices. There is even a medical centre within the mall, with most if not all specialist medical services available downstairs. And the washrooms are usually very clean and fresh. About the only store I would avoid in that mall besides the trashy ones is the Food Basics, which usually has a lot of people even in the so-called off hours, though I can understand because it's close to two of the most densely-populated neighbourhoods of Toronto, Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park. read more

Not a great mall. There aren't too many great stores; I come here for my haircuts, so that's the only store I find useful along with the Target inside the mall. There's a Shoppers Drug Mart, a mediocre food court. Other than that, they don't have much going for them right now. read more

This mall was a terrific place at one time. What time? Well, it opened in 1961 as the Thorncliffe Mall and probably reached its peak in the mid-70s. As the 80s and 90s went along the mall was negatively influenced by the changing demographics of the surrounding area. At one time it drew people from the Leaside area adjacent to Thorncliffe Park, but the "cultural" gap widened between residents of the Thorncliffe area and the surrounding neighbourhoods. It has a Target as its anchor at present, though how long they will be in Canada is anyone's guess. The pharmacy is fine and there is a Food Basics which lives up to its name, but does offer savings over the Loblaws, Sobeys, etc. stores. Maybe they can recapture some of their former success if the apartment buildings start to be converted to condominiums. Time will tell. read more
