They now have zones called neighbourhoods. The newest neighbourhood is called Union Market, which opened 2023-05-09. This neighbourhood is made up of many stalls with many different vendors. Every stall is very modern. There are a few permanent vendors and 2 pop-ups on opening day. A few other vendors will open soon. There are a few lounging stalls with tables and chairs. There is even a sub-neighbourhood called Union Fresh Market! Union Market is not easy to find because it is tucked away when coming from the Union Station Subway Station. I had to ask some other vendors to point the way for me. There is "The PATH" that runs through the middle. The current stalls are south of The PATH. The stalls north of The PATH will open Sep 2023. It seems obvious to me I haven't explored Union Station since at least 2018 since I didn't know they extended The PATH into Union Station! The current vendors are: - The Alley - Patties Express - Chocollata Gourmet Brigadeiros - My Olive - Lena's Floral Design - Manotas Organics (not open yet) - Gemlet (pop-up) - Virtue Vintage (pop-up) I spoke to the staff/owners at each stall except for The Alley because they were constantly busy while I was there 16:15 to 19:30. I'm excited for Union Station. They made a modern Union Food Court many years ago, then they opened the Union Foodie Aisle in 2022, and now Union Market in.2023. The place is wheelchair accessible. There are washrooms nearby but not in Union Market. There is very little paid neighbourhood street parking, but there are paid parking lots. Review 2023-127

This bank has offices scattered throughout the downtown core. We occupied the ninth floor. I loved the location. I'd take the GO train from Markham down to Union Station, and take the PATH briefly to Brookfield Place. There are a bunch of elevators that don't all go up to the same floors. You need to find the floor interval that suits where you want to go. If you are a visitor, Brookfield Place is beautiful. I remember taking a couple of Swedish colleagues to a Toronto Maple Leafs game and we passed by my old workplace. The Hockey Hall of Fame is located in Brookfield Place. I suggested that they go, as they were huge hockey fans like I am. They went the following day and absolutely loved it. My love for Starbucks is due to working at Brookfield Place. I'd drop downstairs to get a drink and take a breather. It's convenient to do a bit of shopping or grab a bite to eat. There's a food court where there are many fast food eateries. I'm sure they have changed since I was last there. There is also a Longo's Market. I'd often get cubed fruit, such as watermelon and cantaloupe, that was easy to eat at my desk to keep me content throughout the afternoon. There used to be a Marche, where you can choose from sandwiches and hot meals. I don't think it's there anymore, but it was awesome. The top floor is where you get to see the high glass ceiling and gorgeous architecture. I didn't appreciate it when I worked here because it was a fairly crazy time in my life working full-time and doing a master's degree part-time. However, when I have returned as a visitor, be it during Nuit Blanche or when I'm heading to Scotiabank Arena, I appreciate how beautiful the crystal cathedral of commerce is. My favourite memory will always be lining up with a few colleagues to get a free heart rate monitor on the first floor of Brookfield Place. We enjoyed missing a bit of work, chatting with one other, and getting a health gift in return. I gave mine to my parents and they still use it to this day. I miss Brookfield Place and the various giveaways that take place. I don't miss the job that I had or the stress that I had experienced. Luckily, I do get to drop by whenever I'm attending a concert. This is also connected to the underground path network which has a few connections to the main walkways. transit options are union ttc subway station and the 504 king streetcar (both the A and B versions, in both directions) , both options come with a bit of a walk, as this is down on college away from both the station and the surface stop. parking is in the area, but it would be above or below private lots with a bit of a walk. love coming here, even if its random, or out of the blue.

I recently returned to check this plaza out. On Saturday, I was here to take in a movie at Cineplex Odeon. It pretty much anchors the open plaza of huge box stores. It's a decent place to take in a movie. There is lots of parking and the seats are comfy. There are a handful of eateries parallel and closest to Lebovic Avenue. The Real Greek, East Side Mario's, and Minerva Tiffins were doing decent business when my movie was over at around 3:30 pm. There used to be a diner called Nickels in this row of eateries. It was owned by Celine Dion. My friend and I loved eating here. It threw you back to milkshakes, sandwiches, burgers, and Montreal-style smoked meats from the 50's or 60's. It was good eats and fairly cheap. It still sits vacant as this silver-looking bullet. It's a shame. Some businesses have stood the test of time. Old Navy, Wendy's, Roots, CIBC, and Dollarama are some of them. It was nice to see that they are still kicking around. There are some newer additions that look promising. Seafood City Supermarket and Healthy Planet are huge size-wise. I'll need to check them out when I return. It's a nice plaza where you can get almost everything. It does need a drugstore, though. Maybe one will pop up down the road. (173)

It made me realize why I enjoy travelling to places further away from my neighbourhood. It's what I knew growing up. No mall within walking distance? I'm taking the TTC to get to Shoppers World and more! I have fond memories of having early dismissals from high school. I'd end up taking either the bus or streetcar to Main subway station, and taking the subway a stop east to Victoria Park. I'd then walk over to Shoppers World by cutting through the huge parking lot that still exists to this day. I recently dropped by Shoppers World to fetch lunch at Church's Chicken. This eatery occupies a small part of the parking lot. It's a nice addition, although detached from the actual mall itself. This mall was cool in my eyes as a kid growing up. It had Eaton's (my closest major department store), Marks & Spencer (I always loved the crisps and t-shirts that were high-quality), and Coles (Coles Notes helped me get through understanding Shakespearean plays). I never got anything at the food court, likely because I liked the snacks at Marks & Spencers more. Over the years, Eaton's shuttered and Zellers moved in. Zellers then went away for good and Target occupied the store. At one stage, I believe that this Target was its Canadian flagship store. It was weird and cool to me. Sadly, it went away, too. Is there some sort of department store curse here? Currently, Lowe's is where all these department stores used to be. Here's hoping that it stays for many decades. The Dominion became Metro. I shopped there often with my mom. I grew up enjoying grocery shopping with my mom, which is still the case to this day. It was nice seeing Metro buzzing with activity when I was there. I didn't officially go into the mall to shop, as we are in a pandemic and I don't have the desire to browse. This mall does have Staples, Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollarama, M&M Food Market (formerly Meat Shop), and more. I'd like to revisit this mall someday and figure out what has changed. As a teen, I enjoyed sewing and crafting. Although not a part of the mall, I frequently visited Fabricland on Danforth, across from this mall. It closed years ago, but I enjoyed getting fabric and patterns at both Eaton's and Fabricland. (83)
