This place is the best spot in Providence. The food is delicious/fresh, the service is quick, and the staff is super nice. It's also very affordable. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you are craving Gyro this is the place. There will be a line, no matter what time you are there. But the line moves quickly and since most people know what great food is coming the line is always friendly. When you get up to order, the staff is always friendly and fun. The sides/toppings in gyro are fresh and abundent. A gyro with everyting is a full meal. My only wish is they had a larger seating area. But Thayer street is tight and they manage to move people through. Most people tend to eat and are observent that people are waiting. If it is a nice day or evening there are plenty of areas around Brown to sit down and enjoy your food. I was a bit dissapointed when reading another review which gave East Side a poor review because the ingredients were not correct in their sandwiches. I don't understand that since you are standing there when the person asks what you want, you see him put eveything on. You can even ask for more of something. read more

It truly does not get better than this. Probably among the best Falafal I have had, and the pockets are bursting with flavor. The portions are large, the prices are cheap, and it's a delicious meal. The baclava is also delicious, and has the right amount of sweetness and richness while also maintaining that critical crispiness and flakiness. If you have a taste for spice, go for the secret "suicide sauce." It's not as spicy as it sounds, but it tastes delicious and compliments the hummus and yogurt sauces well. read more

By far the largest, freshest, and most flavorful Greek salad with a chicken kabob. They let you have so many different dressing options. I don't distribute five stars left and right, but East Side Pocket is different. The Chicken Shawarma was juicy and tender beyond any measure. The bread was so soft you could see through it. The very first bite comes with a good amount of garlic paste letting you know that you're in for a ride. You could watch the chefs assemble this trip of the senses and get you your order in under 10 minutes. This was a cheap delight to an otherwise dark and gloomy day. No matter how bad things get, the juices of Shawarma chicken will wash away the pain. It might be hard to find a parking spot to stop by, but this is a trip that I'd like to make where there is no place to go. read more

Have been eating here for years as a student on College Hill and it has always been a go to restaurant when looking for a quick meal that won't disappoint. Most recently ordered take-out online due to COVID. I typically order the chicken kabob wrap, but this time ordered the combo falafel and chicken and was not disappointed. Their wraps are huge and flavorful - you always get big pieces of perfectly cooked, seasoned chicken and the standard toppings (Hot sauce, Hummus, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Hot Peppers, Pickles, Tabouleh, Tahini, Tzatziki) are plentiful. The portions are always generous, especially for the price. The appetizer portions in particular are always larger than expected (I believe the falafel app comes with 5-6 large pieces, as well as bread, hummus, and tzatziki). The baklava is a great small treat to end the meal. Prices include tax, with sandwiches typically $7-9, and most meals are $10 or under. Located on the middle of Thayer street, parking in available anywhere along the street. When in-person ordering is available, there is often a line that may reach outside the door, but moves very quickly. There are a few booths inside the restaurant and tables on the sidewalk available, but I also recommend sitting on one of the Brown greens nearby to enjoy your meal on a nice day. The staff is very friendly and clearly proud of the food they make. Definitely one of the best restaurants to visit on College Hill, and they've maintained the high quality of their food for years. So fresh, so clean, so fast paced, so crowded. I am an East Side Pockets fanatic, though my proximity isn't as great as to Northside, so I don't frequent here as much. The food is prepared to order and arranged artfully. Ask for a salad and watch how particular they are with how they prepare and present the salad in the to-go container. I usually get the 2 item salad, with falafel and dolmas, and all the fixings. My other go to is a falafel wrap with everything on it, especially hot sauce. I have never had anything like their hot sauce, its think and has a nice kick but isn't a thin mess. They heat up/ cook the falafel in batches so you're not getting something sitting in a warming dish half the day. When making your items if they drop something into another item (say a pepper into the onions or tomatoes) it is immediately cleaned up. Usually if you ask for something like hot sauce on the side, they would just rather not charge you for it. PS! If you leave a tip they will insist on giving you the perfect little tube of baklava as a thank you. read more

We stopped in on our visit back to Brown University. What a fabulous place! The food was so authentic! Absolutely delicious! It is a family run establishment. Owners are there every day we were told. Consistently great food fast for as long as I can remember. It is BY FAR the BEST Felafel joint in New England at least. IMO. (I'm not saying middle eastern or Lebanese or Syrian. Im Saying felafel joint.) The felafel is crispy and perfectly seasoned. Meats are marinated wonderfully. Veggies are fresh. They gotta be with how fast they blow thru them. They get great grape leaves. The condiments are good. The hummus can be a touch bitter but that's ok by me because the pita chips are a bit sweet. And the baklava is ethereal. The prices have not changed to much in recent years which is great when I think about where they are located. I love east side pockets. I finally made it over to East Side Pockets for lunch today and I have to say this is my favorite restaurant in providence so far. I got the falafel salad, they had all the extras that I love. My mom got a chicken gyro that was massive, full of meat. Also had to get some tabbouleh salad and hummus to take home, they made sure to give me some flat bread along with the hummus and tabbouleh.
