I've been coming here as long as I can remember. I've used them for some simple bike repairs in the past but the bulk of my business dealings with them were in regards to lawn mowers ,lawn mower parts etc. Their mower shop is top-notch! First, they're honest!!! They want you to tell your friends, family, and neighbors about how well they treated you. Charlie is always super helpful at the counter. He's even worked me through a problem on the phone. The Proprietor, I believe his name is Greg, is usually there and ultra accommodating!! Very knowledgeable and a really nice guy. He's been in the game for a while because his Dad ran a great shop on the Westbank for many, many years. I'd highly recommend these guys for your mower or bicycle needs. I came in looking for a bike for a short person (I'm 5' on a good day) and a stand so I can make it a training bike indoors and ride it on the road since I have very little space where I live. Michael greeted me and knew exactly what to pick out for me. I did not have the funds needed that day but had the exact perfect bike for me and a stand for that bike to make it a training bike. This is my favorite bike shop in the city! They have mainly Giant brand bikes but they also have a few other brands. What I really like about them is their extensive selection of bikes for kids and their prompt service. I've brought my bike here for a number of reasons and each time they did the work immediately. My one and only experience here was for a tune up of my Gary Fisher Big Sur mountain bike. I purchased this custom built bike at the now defunct Joe's Bicycle on Tulane Avenue, but it had been many years since it had been tuned up and I was in need of new tires as well as a derailleur adjustment. I walked the bike in and was immediately greeted by a cool guy by the name of Eric. He was very complimentary of my bike and it's high end components, and gave it a cursory inspection while I waited. The bike was in excellent shape and only needed new tubes, new tires and a derailleur adjustment. It was ready for pickup as promised in only a few days and the price was very reasonable. The quality of the work is top notch and my derailleur shifts buttery smooth. This is a fully stocked store with several brands of bikes and merchandise on hand. If you live on the East Bank, I don't think you would ever have to visit another bike shop because this place is as full service as it gets. read more

This is a great shop with excellent hours of operation. It's open 9-5 M-F and 9-4 on Saturday. East Bank sells and services lawnmowers and Trek/Giant bikes. They have a dedicated service department and are a destination for numerous high end cyclists. I think they have better service personnel than the other shops in the area. Jonathan, in particular, is a great mechanic. The selection at East Bank is pretty good. In addition to carrying the full line of Bontrager I noticed that they have Trek helmets and a lot of Camelbak products. They also have nutrition from accelerade. I've never seen this before, but the shop even carries recumbent bicycles. There are numerous cruisers and mountain bikes as well. Love the fat kitty cat that roams the store. That is probably the friendliest fat cat I've ever seen. read more

I don't usually leave reviews BUT this place really impresses me. I'm a beginner rider and I have no idea what I'm doing. Every time I've gone in, the staff has been incredibly helpful and knowledgeable! The first time I went, I was having some pedal issues. Patrick patiently listened to what I wanted, gently explained that's not possible but offered a reasonable (and probably even better) alternative. Then installed said alternative... for $10! Y'all, a combo meal is $10 now-a-days! The second time I went in with a flat tire... again, no idea what I'm doing but (again) they got me fixed up, taught me how to fix it myself, sold me some parts to handle it myself and sent me on my way. read more

They were super easy to work with and they had prices about 15% lower than my local/home shop for dis-assembly. I went by my shop at home to inspect the packing job when my bike arrived and they did an extremely thorough and careful job. I decided it was time to get back in biking. Not just any biking, but road bikes. Researched different articles, spoke with people at various bike shops, and many Youtube videos were seen. What made me purchase from this particular shop you ask? The service and knowledge of the staff. As a newbie, they did not make me feel dumb for all my questions and took their time to explain different technical and practical advice on cycling and bikes. I learned a wealth of knowledge and they're always open to answering any questions. Even a request to learn how to change tires was granted. When the store didn't have the right size I needed, they worked with me. They made sure everything was a perfect fit and even helped me install the car bike rack. I walked in not really knowing what I wanted, just that I wanted a bicycle and that I didn't want to go to the box stores. It took a while for them to assist me, but it wasn't their fault. They were all busy with customers! Will helped me figure out what bike was right for the kind of riding I wanted to do. He helped me find the appropriate size and type of bike for me, and patiently answered all of my questions, no matter how repetitive or stupid they were. The bike we decided on wasn't actually available that day, but he told me that they build bicycles every day. i gave him my name and figured I would swing by the next day. When I went back my bike was ready to roll out and actually under my name (I hadn't expected that). I paid with a smile and rolled the bike out to my car. When I got out there, I almost turned around and went back inside to buy a bike rack, b/c I had no idea how I was going to fit it into my hatchback. Jonathan walked up to me and asked if I needed assistance, and then showed me how to unlock the quick release, and helped me fit the bicycle in my car. I had passed this store over for several weeks now, mainly due to intimidation. I had somehow convinced myself that I wasn't a "real" cyclist, and that was a place for the hardcore only, or that they would look down on me when I went in. Nothing could have been further from the truth. If this has stopped you from going inside, please don't let it. They treated me with kindness, patience, and as if I had purchased one of the $5000 bikes. read more

This is a funny little shop. They sell and service lawn mowers in half the store, the other half is for bicycles and accessories. Somehow they manage to do both things very well. The first time I went to the shop was to get my old lawn mower serviced. Of course I went when it was the busiest time of year(beginning of summer) so it took a few day to get it back. But, for a mower that survived Katrina, it was working perfectly. They changed the plug and filter, sharpened the blade and a few other things just to get it started,like I said it survived Katrina. It's been a few years so I don't really remember the price but I do remember that it was surprisingly low. I noticed then the bike shop and thought it was weird that the lawn mower shop also sold bikes. So I thought that the bikes sold there would be cheap. I couldn't have been more wrong. A few moths ago I started looking for a bike. I wasn't too serious at the time so I just poked my head in there a few times to look around. They guys there would always show up to help me quickly and just as quickly I would tell them "I'm just looking" and that would be it. About a month ago I was told I needed to lose weight. So I got more serious about buying a bike. So I went to a few more bike stores, GNO, Bicycle World, Dick's, ect. Then went back to Eastbank Cycling. Finally, i really talked to the guys there. Told them what I wanted the bike for and price range. They showed me 3-4 bikes they had that fit in what I said. Told me about the bike service and warranty. They said that before I leave with the bike that they'll make sure it fits properly and is tuned up. They offer to do work shops with you on maitainance and easy repairs. Overall it was a great experience with both the bike and lawn mower shop. I'm happy with purchase and confident that whenever my bike needs servicing that this is the shop I want to take it to. Dropped off Backpack blower for minor repairs (a broken strap and a broken bar) . 2 weeks later stop in at 930 am and they tell me that it is the next ticket to be looked at. Come back 4 hours later, guy tells me that not looked at it yet , but they need parts to order and not ready, I become aggravated at that and told them they should have explained that to me 4 hours ago. after 2 weeks in the shop, not looked at it yet . Now I need the blower back so I asked for it and the guys gets the blower and thows it at my feet. Told him " nice customer service for throwing the blower" He said that " I would hit you and you would know that I was throwing it at you!! nice attitude with a customer that has been going there for years. Picked up and paid for the NEW STRAP on the blower,,funny thing is, this guy told me several times that they not looked at it yet and that they did not know that they needed a part to order. If they did not look at it, then how did they replace the broken strap.???Lost a long time customer. Do not go there , Rude and unprofessional. read more
