We arrived as the store was opening at 9:15 AM to rent bicycles. Normally you need to reserve in advance, but the manager was able to rent us two bikes. The bikes were very good with no problems. My husband and I recently went on the Creole Odyssey bike tour with Flambeaux at the recommendation of a friend. Our tour was led by Eric. There were about 10 people on this tour. The tour provided a short history to the origins of New Orleans which was truly fascinating. Eric has lived in the area for a long time and gave historical facts as well as current information including how they still use the same equipment used years before to drain the water from a recent hurricane. The hurricane was about three weeks before we were there and he told us that a bull shark was found inland after they started draining all the water! There was no remaining evidence of the hurricane during our ride. We stopped at historical sites which Eric explained in detail. Since our stay in NOLA was short we found that this tour met our needs in providing us the history of New Orleans. We considered a walking tour but felt it would not cover to the extent that this short bike ride did. The ride is at a relaxing pace so we never felt too challenged to keep up. Highly recommend this bike tour..it was fun and very entertaining!! read more

Flambeaux is THE place to do a tour with! I've taken several tours in the city and this is one of my favorites. My fiancé booked us on a 10am Tale of Two Cities tour for my birthday and we had a great time. Check in is super easy, just show up and sign the waiver. You get a quick breakdown of hand signals used while biking to ensure safety and that the group stays together. Over the three hour tour you get to see so many iconic places around the city and learn insider stories you otherwise would not get to. Our guide, Barrett, was incredibly knowledgeable as he is literally a historian and was a teacher previous to this. Since he gets to show so many people the city he also has amazing personal stories that he shares! The three hours fly by and biking around the city was so much fun (not too strenuous at all). I hope to do another one of their tours in the future (the private night ride looks amazing). We stay near here so we constantly are walking by with our dog and all the guys here (especially Eric) are incredibly friendly so I'm sure whoever you get for your tour will be awesome. If you don't have a lot of time in New Orleans, I highly recommend booking a bike tour with Flambeaux Bicycle Tours. The Creole Odyssey tour takes you through the French quarter and Louis Armstrong Park, and a lot of other major NOLA spots! The tour is an even mix between biking and talking through the itinerary. There are multiple opportunities for pictures and fun facts! Visiting NOLA during covid was definitely a risk since the restaurants and bars are mostly closed. However, Flambeaux Bicycle Tours are the best way to see the city in a relatively short amount of time - and get a bit of a workout in! You are given water on the tour but I highly recommend bringing extra. It was SO hot when we did our tour and the Creole Odyssey encompasses around 10 miles! Pretty impressive! read more

DO THIS BICYCLE TOUR! Eric, the owner and tour guide, is a native of New Orleans and has a vast historical and contemporary knowledge of the city. We were cared for every step of the way with free cold water to start and he always found shade each time we stopped. Every stop was captivating with the information and history we learned as we looked around each location. 3 hours may be long for some families but it was perfect in our families opinion. We love bicycle tours and this was no exception. We got to see a lot of New Orleans that we otherwise wouldn't have and learned so much. We had 2 adults and 4 teenagers and all we agreed it was a win. Bonus was a stop at a park with a cafe du monde so we got to try beignets without standing in line for an hour. The trees around the museum are absolutely gorgeous so that was a treat as well. It's a long ride. We had started the day with a walking tour, ate lunch nearby at lil Dizzy's (oh my goodness, so delicious!) and by the time the tour was over I was done. (Total peloton junkie here, I bet we rode about 9 miles) Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and was thoughtfully inclusive of the whole of New Orleans. We did the Creole Odyssey bike tour, kindly, expertly, interestingly and historically led by Barrett, our highly qualified, enjoyable and knowledgeable guide. He was careful and attentive to safety the entire route, and took us on a journey to be remembered. We've enjoyed visiting New Orleans several times in the past, but have been tourists or convention attendees, staying almost exclusively in the French Quarter. Barrett took us on a beautiful tour, through scenic areas, that was so much more than a bike tour. This ride, initially through the French Quarter, and then through several areas of town, was actually a tour that also took us through the history and people of the area, starting from thousands of years ago, up chronologically to the present. We stopped about every 10 - 15 minutes for Barrett to tell us where we were, what we were viewing, fit it into the chronological saga we were riding through and hearing of, and engaged us with detailed facts, anecdotes, and connections to the present of the places and people and their lives spent in the areas we were visiting. While we had a bit of prior familiarity of New Orleans history from our past visits (and what we'd learned from listening previously to Johnny Horton's "The Battle of New Orleans", and Fat's Domino, "Walking to New Orleans"), we were really amazed, and greatly appreciative of the detail of the lives, the motivations and political, economic and societal pressures of the different periods, and how decisions and actions of those in the past helped make New Orleans the truly unique place it is today. My wife and I greatly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it. On our next Visit to New Orleans, we look forward to taking the next tour about the "American Influence" with Flambeaux. read more
