My sister and I after the Flambeaux bike tour with Eric.

This bike tour co. is the BEST.Our new Orleans vacation was so enriched by the bike tours we have taken with Flambeaux! The first time we came to New Orleans we enjoyed a bike tour with Baxter called the tale of two cities. Then when I came back with my sister, I took another bike tour with Eric that included the early history of New Orleans both are soooo great. From these bike tours, I have a whole new perspective on so many areas of New Orleans. What a gift these tours are. Go!

One of the best tours we took in New Orleans, Eric was a true ambassador and great storyteller!

Had a Bachelorette trip for Mardi Gras and took Eric's bike tour. All I can say is it was AMAZING! He was soo informative and the energy he brought with him was so refreshing. He made learning fun! I actually retained a majority of what he taught us and shared with my friends & family when I got back. Definitely a MUST when visiting New Orleans

Back then? Danny was our guide...this time? Danny was our guide! Not only did we learn a lot of fascinating facts, the cruise time was just FUN. Not particularly difficult (the route is pretty flat), bike tours are always a great way to "meet" a city. Why? You're getting an eye level view of the place you're visiting, but people like Danny? They are true ambassadors for a city. It's so clear that he not only knows his stuff, he clearly loves the city - and its history - so much. We did the Creole history tour, but I have ZERO doubt that when we return, we'll see these guys again - and probably do the Culinary Tour next time! And by the way? As he sent us on our way, Danny also did us the solid of suggesting some local joints for music and such. To be honest? The city ought to bottle Danny and his energy - he's an absolute credit to the magic that NOLA really is.

Book it! We took a tour in late May with our family of 8. This was both our first time doing a bike tour and their first time doing a "family with six young kids" tour. Jeff hit it out of the park! They were so accommodating, even letting us borrow his sweet daughter's tag-along bike for the ride. We loved the ride through the historic neighborhood of New Orleans. At each stop Jeff fed us a bit more history in an exciting way that was interesting to all of us, ages 4 to 45 (the 2 year old was just there for the ride). My kids learned about shotgun houses, hurricane Katrina and its impact on New Orleans, the Mississippi River, Cajun vs. Creole, why everything is so colorful in NOLA, art/music in NOLA culture, and many many other things. Our tour ended with a stop at Lorettas, where we ate the best beignets of our trip (and we tried multiple!). The tour was so fun and engaging I could not believe three hours had already gone by. On our two week summer roadtrip, we took a lot of tours. This one was the most expensive tour (which is definitely a factor for us), but I'm so glad we did it. We got to see a side to New Orleans we never would have otherwise. Beyond the tour, we loved the bike ride itself so much I'm now home and scouring the internet for used adult and tag-along bikes so we can all ride around our own city. If you're looking for a kid-friendly activity in New Orleans that's fun for you too, you've found it. Two thumbs up to Confederacy of Cruisers bike tours!

First of all, Bob knows everyone and everyone seems to love Bob. I was quite surprised at how once we got off the main ways, NOLA really began to feel like a small town. He showed us gorgeous parks, took us to some of the worst hit parts of the city, and led us down all kinds of different neighborhoods so we really got a sense of the city. Bob is super informed, very friendly, and hands down one of the best tour guides in any city, anywhere. He really loves the NOLA culture and when he talks you know he's not just rehearsed from a script. I'm so glad that we didn't take one of the tours that focused on the main parts (French Quarter, Bourbon St. Etc.). I feel like we got enough of that walking around on our own. Bob gave us the history of the city and how the way of life here has come to be. We saw quite a few bike tours towards the end of our trip and the people's eyes were glazed over. It was a tour guide standing and lecturing. Bob is so the opposite! You feel like you just spent the day with a great friend.....who just happens to know anything and everything about this amazing city.

My sister and I chose to do the tour the first day we were there so we could get familiar with the town and any recommendations from Bob. This was an excellent decision and I would highly doing your tour the first day and early to avoid the heat. We lucked out as the morning was overcast and cool. We also lucked out as we were the only two on the tour. We took the 3 hour tour but if we would have realized how comfortable the day and how informative the tour was we would have elected to take 20 mile tour vs the 10 mile. We chose the Esplanade tour and started out at the Mississippi River and toured through the French Qtr, a historic cemetery, City park , and other various NOLA neighborhoods. Bob was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the city and did a great job of sharing it with us. Don't be feel intimidated by a bike tour the city is flat, the pace is just right with many stops along the way. The cruiser bikes are excellent for this type of tour. Bob gave us great tips on bars, restaurants, and things to do on our quick trip. Highly recommend his tour to anyone visiting the area!!

Setting up the trip by email was easy and they answered all my questions - from vegetarian lunch options to was this suitable for a relatively inexperienced bicyclist. Derek, our tour guide, was easy going, knowledgeable, and said he never did the same tour twice. We were touring on St. Joseph's day so he threw in a visit to 2 altars, asking us ahead of time if we were ok with that. You start off on a cruiser bicycle with a basket, a bottle of water and helmet. We stopped to get lunch to go from Cajun Jo's, a plain neighborhood place run by a Vietnamese family. Simple food at cheap prices. We then rode a few block to eat lunch in Mr. Lewis's backyard. Visiting Mr. Lewis was a special experience, and hearing from him about his Dance and Feathers museum. He lost all the exhibits except a few to Katrina and as rebuilt it again. He's the community glue who lives for what he does. And for his grandchildren :) The tour is about 4.5 hours long but don't let this scare you. The bike seats are very comfortable, the pace is relaxed with a lot of breaks, drivers are patient letting bicyclists through, and the city is very flat. And Derek and our group of 9 were accommodating of me who fell behind a few times. Payment is in cash only. Like a TripAdvisor reviewer wrote: if you're breathing, you must go on this trip.

We meet up at the Voodoo Lounge, where there is a ticket office in the back room. We didn't live the bar--smelled a little bit like a sewer and the hurricanes were super sweet and kind of weak. But we did have but one get one, so wasn't that upset. The tour was great. We saw some interesting, haunted places and heard the history behind them. We didn't linger too long at any one place. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny, although he may have been a tad bit too heavy on the Catholic Church jokes. The tour ended at the LaLaurie house, and our guide shared a story about a little girl on who was recently on his tour who started crying and asked why there were dead people on the balcony. Spooky! I was so intrigued by what he said that I started looking up stories about Delphine LaLaurie and the haunting of the house. When I got home, I even started watching season 3 of American Horror Story, which has the character Delphine LaLaurie (accurate? No. Fun? Yes!). This was a fun way to spend the evening. There was an obnoxiously drunk guy on our tour, and our guide handled him well.

From the moment we sat down, the staff set the tone--professional, genuinely friendly, and impressively efficient. We began with a trio of starters that showcased both richness and restraint. The foie gras torchon was silky and indulgent, perfectly complemented by fruit confiture and warm, toasted Bellegarde Bakery bread--a classic pairing done right. Marinated crab claws, dressed in a lively chili vinaigrette, delivered a bright, briny punch, while the pickled pineapple and jalapeño chips added just the right balance of sweetness and heat. A cucumber salad rounded out the starters, crisp and refreshing, acting as a welcome palate reset before the mains. For entrées, comfort and finesse shared the plate. The confit chicken thighs were meltingly tender, paired with ham-braised greens swimming in a tangy apple cider vinegar broth. A lovely Dijon cream tied everything together, adding richness without overwhelming the dish. Equally memorable was the half smoked duck, beautifully executed and deeply flavorful, served over a smooth pumpkin-sweet potato purée. The cherry bourbon glaze brought a subtle sweetness, while the pepitas added texture and a nutty finish. Dessert was the perfect exclamation point on an already wonderful meal: a slice of hot chocolate cheesecake, decadent and deeply chocolaty, crowned with toasted marshmallow fluff that leaned just enough into nostalgia without crossing into excess. Toups Meatery continues to deliver thoughtful, soulful cooking with polish and heart--comfort food elevated, served by a team that clearly knows what they're doing.
