Do not waste your time or money doing business with EarthLink. I signed up when I moved in May because my pervious internet provider did not service the area I moved to and I needed internet to work from home and as well as my cable service. On June 12th I woke up to my internet not working and called tech support to have the issue resolve. I was told the issue would be resolved by Friday. I waited until 5 pm friday still no service I called back and was told it would be resolved that day and not to worry. Still no internet I paid my bill which I regret because now that I want to cancel I'm being told there's a $200 cancellation fee! How? When I have not had internet for the last 5 DAYS! They are unreliable and not trustworthy I would never recommend anyone to use the. read more

This is the worst internet service I ever had. The internet was essentially non-existent...I'd say I had internet maybe 25% of the time. The $79.99 nonrefundable charge for equipment is a bunch of BS. I live alone and don't need much data, so I signed up for the plan with the least amount of data, which normally would be more than enough for me. But because the coverage was so bad, websites had to keep starting over to load (if they ever could) so I burned through that 100 gigs of data before the month was out. I had to keep track of my data usage, and was told that if I ran out, they would shut off my service unless I added more data. I essentially did not have internet, but there is no grace given for money put out...you're screwed out of the equipment fee the minute they ship it, even if you are unhappy with the service in your home. It ended up costing me $140 for one month, but I gave it a chance and quit that BS service after a month. read more

I have been a customer for over 15 years since Time Warner. I have been down for 2 days now and going on 3 days down. Customer service are foreigners and hate us by default. So when they screw us over they will and have. They answer the phone when they want. The tech was supposed to be here between 12-5. It's 7. So they are going to screw me another day. I called the 1st time and the system told me their closed. I called again and they answered. Customer service is horrendous. Internet service is good customer service is none, absolutely none. Not worth the trouble. The only reason I now stay cuz my options are limited, by 2 services. The other service is always down at least 3x a week. Working remote I'm stuck with EarthLink. Ps: when you have internet service they still charge you for an email address. Isn't that crazy. It ise to be free. Not from earthlink, they charge for email with internet service. read more

What a waste of time and money. Their customer service is the worst. Will leave customers on hold and will not assist for anything.

Horrible company I received a bill for an account I don't even have haven't had for years but they were still billing me for. I spoke to a manager and he assured me it was canceled. I received yet another bill. I just called and now no one can help me. read more

Customer service is one of the worst i have dealt with! The internet speed is highly unreliable and you do not get near the speeds they promise you. Just go directly to Verizon since that is who they use. Verizon is cheaper for faster speed and better service! read more

DO NOT USE THIS PROVIDER!!! I am currently paying them and another internet provider because they cannot get my internet to work for the last month and I work from home. They refuse to waive the cancellation fee even though in total for this bill I will be out out internet for about 10-15 days. I also have to be home for them to try to get the internet to work so I can't even go to a cafe. They also tell you the service provider will come any day from today all the upto a week. I also find it funny that for the first month it worked great now that the cancellation policy is in effect, the service is the most unreliable. I don't know how this company is legally still allowed to keep running when they do not live up to their contracts then force the consumer to pay $200 to cancel THIS IS A SCAM!!! read more

Just as bad as the rest. Internet service went out at 7:30pm, contacted them via chat support at 8pm, took them an hour to reply and after the standard unplug and plug back in the modem response, they referred me to their customer service line which is closed until 9am tomorrow morning! Not worth the price. Will be switching providers ASAP. read more

I was shopping for new Internet for the house, the website said zero cost to install, which turned into $19.99 for installation, was provided 2 different numbers, one to check on install that I indicated needed to be done by 2/7/24, and then I started receiving texts, redundant texts, for installation 2/8/24 but not confirmed per texts, the 2nd number provided was to give my new account number to get ACP, spent hours calling the numbers and no one ever picks up, went on website, set-up account and all texts offering help are redundant and no help received at all, so I'm a new customer, with no definite install date, and they took my money read more

Earthlink is absolutely horrible. Services always lagging and we are only a family of three. Customer services is rude and unhelpful. EarthLink over charges and charges a "reactivation" fee even when the services have not been suspended. Called customer service and was told that this was a fee for missing my 10 day grace period window even though on the account it says reactivation fee and they only charge it when it gets disconnected and then however, they charge me $25 reactivation fee even though my Wi-Fi did not get disconnected because I paid it on time. The lady in customer service told me that it was because I missed my 10 day grace Period. do not ever recommend Earthlink. It will be switching the next pay Period. read more

The worst !!!! they do not answer the phone to cancel. you will be on hold for hours and hours.

Worst internet and customer service ever! No stars if it were an option! Youll spend hours on the phone "troubleshooting" and getting nowhere and then then begging and bribing you to stay! read more

Run don't walk!!! I've had EarthLink for 1 month and the service is terrible and slow. Tech support is useless they don't help resolve anything, they are slow to offer solutions to problems. I'm still waiting to get my service running optimally. I would never recommend their services to anyone needing reliable service and if you prefer great customer service over substandard service. I called to cancel the service yesterday after 1 month and was hit with a $200.00 early termination fee!!! I am beyond annoyed with EarthLink. It's not worth the aggravation to try and save a few bucks! read more

The worst internet company. Please stay away from them they misled you into believing they are cheap. And the speed is the worst! I had to switch back to AT&T. read more

I dont recommend this company to anyone. They claim to have no contracts or hidden fees and you can cancel anytime. We didnt use internet for a month because we were paying for the highest package 300mbps for $179 and having to add data 2 weeks in every month- it was draining our budget. We eneded up spending $200-$300 per month all said and done because you run out only watching one or 2 movies a night and thats without us connecting to phones or any other devices. When I spoke with a customer service agent to cancel she said I had to pay for a months worth of internet I never recived and still are trying to make me pay for service I never got. This is a huge scam and was very inconvenient. They will not work with you look for someone who actually offers unlimited internet and save yourself the hassle. read more

This is the biggest scam In the history of scams. I was told the data I purchased would be sufficient for my needs which were discussed in detail. 24 hours after I got this installed, 1/2 my data is used up: 48 hours after my data is gone and the internet is shut off! I was also told I could get refund if I didn't like the service by the sales representative, corporate office refuses to honor that agreement. So for 176.00 I got to watch tv for almost 48 hours. They customer service is a joke if you ever get them yo answer after being on hold hours at a time. Find another company this one is horrible! read more

0 stars this is by far the worst internet In the world. first I paid 79.95 thinking it was my first month pay because that's what I was told. to only recieve my router and to activate I had to pay 96.10! and found out that would be my month fee!! all to have slow ass WiFi!! can't watch a movie with out it buffering cant play the game without it lagging !! this is my first month and last month I will be finding new WiFi do not get earthlink I wish I would've read the reviews before I wasted 176.05. unlimited high speed data bullshit !! they need to be shut down ! read more

Earthlink is the worst internet service provider around . The customer service is terrible. I paid my bill on Sept 8th 2024. Confirmed it posted on Sept 9th. I get an email stating on Sept 26th I disputed the charge and a charge back was the result. I did not dispute any charges especially 18 days later .. after providing proof that I did not dispute any charges and receiving a credit for the inconvenience they cut my services off this morning oct 7th causing my wife who works from home to miss work . After calling them again this morning and having the services reactivated due to their error only wife's office has internet all of my televisions are smart tvs .. after numerous calls to tech support my issue isn't resolved now they're saying they have to send out a tech smh .. DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR SERVICES IM REPORTING THEM TO THE BBB and will contact an attorney for lost wages my money from the previous month plus suffering read more

I've been an Earthlink webmail customer for more than 30 years. In the last two weeks I've been locked out of my account 3 times while I travel in Europe. The first time I was on hold 3 different times each more than an hour before getting someone who could reset my password. She assured me that I should get locked out again. Four days later the same thing happened. I again spent several hours on hold waiting to speak to an agent before getting my account back. Two days later I was again locked out. I spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone waiting for an agent to answer before finally giving up. I then tried a different number and reached someone fairly quickly but he had to transfer me to technical support where I've now been on hold 1 1/2 hours with no answer. I tried the chat function and they weren't able to help me. There is no reason for anyone to use Earthlink. It's ironic that I received a notice that my monthly charge was going from $10.95 to $13.95 when my account got locked. Just use gmail. read more

I have been an Earthlink customer since 2001. I use the prepaid method of payment. Ever year I waste 15 or more minutes on a chat platform to renew this prepaid. WHY!!! Why can't I do this on my billing page. This is 2022 not 1999. Why doesn't the prepaid option appear anywhere, forcing me to waste time on a chat. Today, "Kristal R" took over 15 minutes to set up my prepaid. VERY SLOW CHAT RESPONDING! I do not understand why I can't do this myself on my billing page. Is it because Earthlink wants the extra $1.00 a month! Earthlink: Please stop wasting my time every year. read more

LIES AND DECEIT They are dishonest about the service you will receive and how that service works. They told me I could receive fiber, promised they had made sure it was available at my address and that - even at 25mbps it would do so much more than my current standard internet with another provider. I wasn't entirely sure this was true but I was willing to test it with fiber to see if there really was a difference and eventually upgrade my speed if I needed to. When ATT showed up that morning to connect the service, as Earthlink does not do so (thank goodness for small miracles!), the tech informed me that there was no fiber in my area, there had never been fiber in my area, and that they had scheduled me for 25mbps of standard internet - something they were going to charge me nearly as much as I pay for the 400mbps from a different provider! He also confirmed my suspicion that the 25 on fiber was never going to keep up with 400 standard and that what the sales rep had told me was a complete and utter lie. They will lie to you and say anything to make a sale, apparently! Now I have to sit through their ridiculously long hold lines to try and get my installation fee back. read more

I initially wanted to sign up with Frontier but since it wasn't serviced in my area, Earthlink stated they would provide me the same service speed of 100mpbs for 39.99. only to find out later that it was only 45mbps and they were charging me $78. I called as soon as I was aware since they did not let me know about the charge right after installation only to have consistent intermittent issues with my internet, which is an issue because I work from home. After consistent back and forth about my rate and speed they provided me a credit. Still having issues with the service and went ahead and cancelled not even two weeks of service. Multiple representatives told me that I would receive a refund of 64.49 within three days only to find out today now, I'm not getting a refund. I was hung up on after requesting to speak to a supervisor and still, no refund. This company is a scam! do not get your service with them! read more

What a sham. They told me over the phone that I'd get a dedicated fiber optic line called EarthLink Hyperlink which would be superior to my existing Frontier Fios line, but come installation day, guess who showed up to do the "install"? It was Frontier Fios, my existing provider. The Frontier guy had no idea what I was talking about when I told him about EarthLink Hyperlink and the promises they'd made to me, and we had a good laugh about it. Now I've spent that last 90 minutes on hold to cancel the new account and pending installation with EarthLink and get my $79.95 installation fee credited back to my credit card. BBB, here I come! DO NOT FALL FOR EARTHLINK'S CLAIMS. THEY DON'T OWN ANYTHING. read more

I signed up for the service about 6 months ago, it took EarthLink 2 weeks to get my service right and when they sent a guy out he only hooked up one cable meaning he would have to make a repeat trip for a second cable. The internet service never works and customer service is absolutely the sorriest. I was never told they were putting me in a binding contract and now all the sudden I supposedly owe them $250 to get out of this phantom 12 month contract. I would let anyone and everyone know, DO NOT USE EarthLink internet service as it is without a doubt an absolute shit company. My bill has been different every months since I started with them and to top it off they have a middle eastern guy who barely speaks English try and call me to justify my bill. This is the first YELP review I have ever written because I hope you guys take heed and do not use these shit bags. read more

This must be the most incompetent company I have every dealt with. I signed up easily enough, but I had to call them back for an installation date. The next day I got an email with an installation date that wouldn't work. So I called to change it, somehow they misunderstood that, and cancelled my entire account. So I started over. After finally moving into my new apartment, they are supposed to be there at 9 AM. At Noon I call and they say they'll be a couple hours late. At the end of the day I call again and they say it'll be 3 to 4 days. Ridiculous. I asked the person on the phone if I could speak to his supervisor. He refused but said he could have him call me in the next hour. Hours go by. The guy (not his supervisor) finally calls me back and says the installation has been scheduled and they cant do anymore. I told him I'd like to cancel my installation so I can go with another company. He said that I should THINK ABOUT IT. He hangs up and didn't cancel my installation. 5 phone calls later I've finally canceled my account. While I didn't get my money back I'm happy to be rid of this company. They're a total scam. read more
