Earls Kitchen + Bar - Gingerbread cake - Canadian (New) Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Came to Earls for new years eve dinner 2014/2015. As it was a rather bussy night, the place was very noisy and we had a hard time communicating during dinner. During the night we had cocktails, which was superbly prepared, appetizers, entres and dessert. I really liked that their menu included several interesting dishes I hadn't heard of before. Overall the food was really good, I would say higher quality than what I expected for the price. The reason I give this place a 3 and not a 4 is partly because of the noisy environment but mainly because the waitress clearly wanted us out of there as soon as possible, even though there were several free tables. She came over to our table to ask if we would like to order anything else (like additional drinks or coffee) but when our answer were no she had the bill prepared and gave it to us right away. Obviously we felt stressed to get out of there. I will go back to Earls again, but probably on a less stressful night and also try to get a table in the more quite section. read more

My friend and I dropped in briefly for some drinks and light snacks before the comedy mix. It was quite busy, much busier than I anticipated on a Thursday night but we were seated in 5 minutes. Everything seemed good, spicy Caesar is on point! Then we were told the chicken wonton plate is gone?!? Ok why? And replaced with a less attractive, super salty Korean chicken dish. I disliked it right away. The sushi plate we ordered was supposed to have no mayo, but it was incorrect. It was sent back and came out with 3 slices of ginger, and when I went to ask for more, our server was chatting up a couple fellas at the bar for over 10 mins. My friend ended up having to ask a different server. In any case, the Korean Chicken is way over priced, at $14.00. The gentleman that seated us was super nice, the front hostess was very gracious as well. Mixed reviews since this place used to be better. read more

We loved our dinner at Earls! My 14-year old son loved it so much, he wanted to go back the next night on our getaway from Seattle. The ambiance is very cool. The music was upbeat but not too loud and overall the restaurant wasn't too noisy (it was a Sunday night, though). I had the scallop risotto and loved it. I savored every bite. My husband had the steak frites with garlic fries and kindly shared a bite of steak. It was delicious and cooked just right. My son had a burger and devoured it. Our waiter was really friendly and the perfect amount of attentiveness and had some helpful Vancouver recommendations for the next day! We will definitely be back next time we're in Vancouver. read more

My hiking group, 4SW, a group of 12 with reservations on 7/21/18 were pleasantly accommodated with friendly service and delicious food and drink. We were visiting from the US and took a chance with Earls. I'm still raving about the Cajun Salmon and rose sangria. My friends enjoyed their dishes and raved about their non alcoholic Remedy drink. We also enjoyed the sample tasting of their featured soup. This is a must visit restaurant when you visit Vancouver , B.C. , Canada. read more

I was there last Tuesday night. I volunteer Tuesdays and often we go for drink some food after. The service is friendly the food was good. My drink happy hour - rye and ginger ale. I guess the ice had melted as it was rye and water. I sent it back the next drink was the same. The chronic problem however is there are never paper towels in the men's washroom. I have mentioned this to servers to the front desk. It never changes. Trying another restaurant this week. read more

Alyssa is the best server! It was my friend's birthday and the whole staff signed a Happy Birthday card and went above and beyond. We felt so special and welcome into the restaurant. The service exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to come back and get served by Alyssa again! read more

Service was pretty good and the food was great. Highly recommend. Had the steak frites and they were bomb.

Visiting from out of town this weekend. We visited Earle's at approximately 7:30pm on Saturday night. We were greeted promptly and warmly and seated about 10 minutes later. The waitress was friendly and quick to take our orders (8 oz sirloin with fries instead of mashed potatoes and Yucatán tacos with salad instead of the fries). The food was excellent! What I ordered: The steak was perfectly seasoned and prepared, the vegetable side was crisp and flavorful, and those fries - wow - delicious! The other dish ordered at my table (tacos) were reported to be very good, as well. The only errors were that the waitress forgot to substitute the fries for salad in the taco dish, which she promptly corrected, and that she brought out regular Coronas instead of the Corona Lights I ordered, which I really didn't care about. At the end, the "host," or whoever took the credit card, made friendly conversation about happenings around town and the such - nice touch. I was very happy with the choice we made to eat here... Good food, good service, good job! read more

5 stars for an incredible atmosphere, great menus and branding and a funny waitress, even though she didn't really know the menu well. Food was good but nothing spectacular, we ordered calamari, yam fries, and tuna poke bowls read more

Yes, my hubby and I are tourists in this review - I can honestly say that this place doesn't feel or taste like a chain. The food is excellent! We shared the bacon cheddar burger and the Italia flatbread, plus had a delicious Italian champagne and whiskey sour. All were delightful. The burger was great on a slightly crispy bun and sweetly cured bacon. The flatbread was thin and flavorful with different meats, basil, and mozzarella cheese. Drinks couldn't be better. The service was excellent too- the manager checked and chatted with tables, our glasses were never empty, and they even gave recommdations for other places for the duration if our stay. Lastly, they heard it was our honeymoon and came by with congratulations which was really touching read more

Right, I've been to Earl's many, many times over the years for dinner, drinks and everything in between across multiple locations throughout the lower mainland. This past week I went for lunch with some co-workers. Ordered the "Earl's Bigger Better Burger" expecting it to be something worth the ~$15 they charge in terms of quantity of the meal, toppings etc. I seem to recall it being more substantial in the past, but what I got was quite pathetic in comparison. 2 buns with some mayo, a piece of lettuce, a sliced tomato, a slice of onion, and the patty. That was it. You can get far more toppings at any of the "fast food" burger joints around town for half the price. Man, did I feel ripped off by this and it wasn't even enough to fill me up as I left the restaurant still hungry. Earl's main competitor in this price/area would probably be Joey's or Cactus, and from what I recall the Cactus burger is at least oozing with plenty of toppings to make up for the price. Anyway, this was not a stacked burger by any means and for ~$15 + tax + tip comes to around $21 for a substandard burger in terms of overall ingredients/toppings. Will never order a burger again at Earl's after this experience, it was so underwhelming. Earl's -- bring back the chicken, apple and brie cheese sandwich -- at least that had great taste and was worth the price. read more

Excellent food ! We loved all our food ! Very nice place and service . A good mix of food that you will really like .

The food was absolutely amazing. The cajun chicken sandwich is the best i've ever had anywhere. Great music and pleasant overall ambience. Our server Hala was super friendly, patient and efficient, a great asset to the staff. Overall, an enjoyable experience! Will be back soon :) read more

Got some pissy chick who gave me attitude while serving. She semi rolled her eyes when she turned around because I said I wanted more time to look at the menu. Wtf! Is that a freaking crime for me to ask that? Maybe she's on her period or her boyfriend dumped her. I sure don't blame him, I'd dump her too. LOL. Quit your job if you're that unhappy, missy. I didn't give 1 star, because I had 1 other wait staff who was professional and nice. But then he was a dude. Dudes are always nice. Parking is easy at the mall. Classy decor. Good food. To management, just keep your eye out for pissy snotty wait staff. It can ruin an experience for other customers who are here for a legit good time. I won't blast you down to 1 measly star. Just 2 for now. read more

We were walking around Vancouver and came across the Earls Test Kitchen... We decided to give it a shot! The restaurant is quite hip on the inside and kinda cool because you can see the Test Kitchen on the second floor. MAN... that Chorizo Mussel Pot is one of the most unique and delicious dishes I have ever had! sounds weird, spicy pork ground sausage and seafood, but so so delicious and flavorful. My wife loved the Quinoa and Avocado Powerboel salad... she still talks about recreating, three months later! read more

I think it's good simple place within its price range, but it could be better. We had Penne Alfredo with chicken, Caesar Salad and couple coctails. Food was ok, nothing special what you would remember few hours later. By the way they have bunch of young blond girls in short dresses working as hostesses and whole visit I was wondering why they aren't cold :-). read more

Ouch. $23 bucks for 2 bottles of Bud. Nice place. Too bad they treated us so poorly during the Olympics. We ordered (2) Budweiser Beer in the bottle - nothing fancy. And they charged me $23 for 2 beers! Who do they think they are? Ouch. Won't be going back there. As the Quebec license plate reads "Je me souviens!" I remember. read more

A little disappointing. Definitely not the same burger I had at the Earls in Burnaby although it was still a very tasty burger I had my hopes up that it would be the same quality as the Earl's in Burnaby. Not sure if I would have changed the rating if I had never eaten at the other Earl's I was not to crazy about the toothpick fries either, gravy tasted a little powdery, I am GLAD it was on the side, ketchup always a good fail-over. I will definitely have to go back to the Earl's in Burnaby to see if maybe that Awesome burger I had was just a One-Off (Hope Not). read more

Great lookin' place, excellent service, awful food. We popped by after a movie on Sunday night. Just a few guys looking to grab a burger and a beer. Service was prompt and friendly. Beer was very well priced ($3 a sleeve) and not half bad. The food was seriously sub par. The burger came overcooked, on a bunt that was stale and way-too-big. No creativity - just stuffed with limp lettuce, soggy tomato and a pickle. And dry. Very disappointed. May return, but solely for the sleeves. read more

Came in for brunch this morning and to catch the Patriots game and was blown away by the bartenders service. I didn't catch his name but he was efficient, professional and personable. The best experience Ive ever had at Earls and will definitely be back read more

Food was great. Portions were normal. Service was sub par. Took about 15 min to get someone to ask us what we wanted. Not many check backs so didn't get everything we wanted but food was delicious and fresh. read more

The food here is great. The clam chowder may be the best I've ever eaten and the avocado toast is wonderful. So good that we went back two nights later, had the same two items and shared a delicious Santa Fe salad. I would give it 5 stars but the noise level is extreme and having a conversation is very difficult. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER. I've gone to many Earls restaurants and have had positive experiences but the service I received at this location was truly frustrating and disappointing. I went in on Friday night with a friend and we were both baffled. In the 1.5-2 hours we spent there, our server Emily came up to us once to fill our waters after 20 minutes of being seated, and once more shortly after I asked her what the brand of hot sauce was for their tacos. For the remaining hour and a half, she walked past our table at least two dozen times without acknowledging us or even looking in our direction. We waved down another server to get Emily but once again, she did not bother to come by. After probably feeling sorry for us, that other server came by to clear our plates away and helped with our bill. After waiting 15 minutes for the new server or Emily to come by with the debit machine, we were ignored once again. As a last resort, we walked up to the front of the restaurant to pay and only then did Emily finally acknowledge us. The most embarrassing part? The only reason why I know her name is Emily is because it says so on my receipt. I will not be going back to this location and will definitely not recommend it to anyone. I understand Friday nights are a busy time for restaurants but I have never received such poor service, especially at a large chain restaurant. read more

Delicious food and excellent service , my husband and I had a great time at this restaurant! The coconut prawns are absolutely delicious and the Mediterranean dips with sesame pita bread are excellent. This remains one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver, Good food , good vibes, and a very caring and friendly staff, it was definitely the perfect combination for a Friday night dinner. read more

Today at the test kitchen we tried the cauliflower and sun choke soup. It was tasty, but maybe could use a dash more of salt. The restaurant was busy and the staff was friendly and attentive. The vibe is swanky-casual. Great spot! read more

Yay! I'm a fan of their shoe string fries :) This goes for all their locations...but this one on Hornby is the posher looking one...@_@

Great service, food, drinks, atmosphere, and prices! Came here on a busy Friday night and our server was very attentive and friendly. Prices during happy hour are great for food but none of the drinks appealed to me. Their cocktails are $2 off on Fridays and Saturday's and they were delicious. We also had the coco poof(?) shots and they were so tasty. We ordered our food just before happy hour started and our server said she would still put it through under the happy hour prices. It was a little challenging to walk up and downstairs to the washroom after many drinks, but their washrooms were lovely and very clean. read more

Stopped in for a lunch but was more impressed by the drink menu. They offer a pretty extensive selection and their pricing appears to be a steal! If I go back, I would plan to enjoy the bar style meal, instead of a sit-down meal. read more

You know how you go to a restaurant for brunch and you're all like "hey this good coffee!" You will not say that at Earls.

I came in this afternoon and our server vanessa suggested the buffalo cauliflower and i was hesitant to try it at first but i loved it! Vanessa was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Will definitely come back next time! read more

The menu is greatly expanded, still some test kitchen items, but a full selection of earl's starters, salads and mains. Nice atmosphere, small but good wine list, and pleasant staff. read more

Myself and a couple of friends drop by earls tonight after a movie. The place was pretty dead with about 20 people in the lounge... About half of them at the bar. We were quickly seated and given menus, and after about 15 minutes we were finally able to flag a server down to order our drinks and meals. No one seemed to be all that interested in our table, and we had catch the eye of the manager who was leaning up against a wall, very disinterested in what was going on in the place. Our meals came quickly (quicker than it took to get our order). But after we finished we again searched for our waitress who seemed far more interested in the 20 something boys at the bar than doing her job. She cleared our table and after another 10 minutes we were able to flag her down and get our bill. Overall a horrible experience and would not recommend this Earls location. Others seem to be much better. The management needs to give their head a shake as this is a management issue top to bottom. You lead by example. I eat at the Joey's up the street 5 or 6 times a month and they would never deliver this poor quality of service. read more

*16/30* This location has definitely stepped up their game. The recent renovations make the place look amazing. I feel like the renos were accompanied by either a change in management or a reinvention of service protocols, because the service was about 2000x better than last time. The entire time we were in that building, there were people left and right asking if we were enjoying ourselves, offering to refill drinks or clear away plates, etc... The restaurant was also jam freakin' packed to the seams (mostly with tourists) - whether or not you like that is up to you - but not so much that anybody seemed to have to wait for a table. I liked the upbeat but casual vibe - everyone seemed to be having a good time. The menu items are no different, with the same over-priced delicious food and cocktails. Favourite eats: the burgers, tuna sushi salad, and the fish tacos. Favourite sips: white peach bellini, sangria, and raspberry mojito. Thank-you Earls, for making my future movie-dinner dates more awesome. read more

Enjoyed the decor, food and service. Knocked the score based on extremely thick tortillas with the poke, but everything else was amazing. Bacon burger awesome with correct meat/veg/bun proportions. Fries perfect! Definitely recommend! read more

My salmon dinner was good; taco appies good: sushi good. Creative cocktails. We were treated out with an open tab. Unfortunately the server failed. We easily could have doubled sales in drinks, desserts and extras but the guy eventually disappeared on us, only to return after a final 30 minute spell to collect for the bill. No excuses as the place was virtually empty. After reading other reviews it looks like service is a problem here. read more

So far, this has been the best meal we've eaten in Canada. We don't know our way around, and were starved. The clam chowder was thin, but had good flavor. We split the chicken with apple, brie and fig sandwich, that came with yukon gold fries. Tasty! Service was very friendly and my husband loved the IPA he ordered. We got the sticky toffee pudding, which at first was a disappointment. Somehow, I missed that it's a chocolate cake with toffee sauce. But, once I got into the vanilla gelato and selfishly stole all the toffee sauce, it was good. Very friendly service. Loud atmosphere, lots of trendy and beautiful young people everywhere. We'll go back, since it's a very short walk to our hotel. read more
