I went to Earl's with my male cousin and I'm sure that if I were a straight hot-blooded guy then the service would have been much improved. As a previous poster said yes the service is shoddy. The hostess and waitresses ignored me but kept talking to my cousin, who incidentally is gay and therefore didn't care that they flirted with him, had huge fake boobs, wore low cut tops with push up bras, or kept fiddling with the exposed bra straps. The food was not that great and extremely overpriced for both quality and quantity. When I asked for more water, the waitress couldn't be bothered to get any. When my cousin asked for water, the waitress sped off and got it right away. The sole good thing about the place is the chic decor. The other waitresses spent more time socializing and flirting with two groups of guys. Earl's to me came across as a more upscale version of Hooters. The only reason we went to Earl's is because my cousin received a $50 gift card for Christmas and suffice to say we will not be back. read more

This place has one of the best looking after work crowds on a Friday night. Women who like to tip $8 triple martinis while scoping groups of men with loosened ties winding down after their week balancing numbers and buying stocks should check this place out. There is a fun list of martinis, and Earls makes their own 'albino rhino' beer, of which I like the honey lager. The pints are the big 20oz variety. They have a great selection of wine by the glass and their Reserve wine list actually has some pretty special wines for surprising prices. Osoyoos Larose "Le Grand Vin" is just one example. This wine retails for about $50 in shops, and they offer it in the $75-neighbourhood on the menu. Most restaurants would (at least) double the retail price. The atmosphere is trying hard to be hip and sexy. It's a fairly large venue, so even if there's a line crowding the entrance you'll be seated after a short wait. The Top 40 music is pretty loud and there are TVs all over the place tuned into different sports. The food is dependable, but overpriced. For example, a bowl of clam chowder is $6.75. I had a pad thai bowl ($16.50) and it was tasty with lots of chicken, shrimp, tofu and veggies. Most Thai places would offer a more authentic dish for around $4 less. It's a good place to stop for a drink and a bite before heading to the movie theatre next door. It's proximity to Robson Street shopping and Pacific Centre also make it an ideal cocktail stop after shopping. If you're looking for a quiet spot to catch up with someone, keep looking. Between the music, the TVs and the cute boys in collared shirts, there are far too many distractions. read more

I hate writing a bad review but this is as honest as it gets. My friend and I were visiting and this place was next door to our AirBnB. We came here Saturday, October 20th and had brunch. I had the burger which was alright and my friend had the Harvest Brunch Bowl. Unfortunately, there was a hair in her Harvest Brunch Bowl which we knew wasn't hers as it was maybe 10 inches longer. We decided to brush it off- whatever. That same day, we last minute decided to go out to eat. We returned for dinner around 8 pm. The whole restaurant seemed in chaos. We should have left. I ordered a white wine, Caesar salad, and their gluten free Alfredo. My wine came out warm and another table behind us experienced the same and complained. I also made a comment to our server who told the manager. He tried to fix it by sticking my glass of wine in a bucket of ice ... didn't think he was serious. He then tried to chill it in their refrigerators .. also didn't work. My pasta came out way after my salad was finished. That also was horrible as majority of the noodles were hard. Still didn't have a cold glass of wine by the end of the meal. Neither experience is on the servers. They tried their best. This is all on management. During the dinner the manager never apologized for the inconvenience, didn't even acknowledge how dissatisfied we were. Everything from the overwhelmed hostess (at 8 pm), to the multiple servers running around receiving complaints, a chaotic looking kitchen, unprepared food and drinks ... it is all on the fault of management. They need to figure it out. I will never encourage someone to waste their time or money at any of their locations. I was in the service industry for over 6 years - there's no excuse for it to be that bad. read more

I am going to EARLS for years now. The location on Horny is my favorite, just because the one at Yaletown is more smaller and the one of Robson more far from my place. I love EVERYTHING on their menu. I am never been disappointed and my favorite meal is the Chicken and Field Mushroom Fettuccinni. For $17.75 yes it's a little bit PRICEY and it's 80.00$ for two with drinks plus tips. But so good... Always.. Also I tried the appetizers ''sushi Dynamite Prawn + Mango Roll''. It was Ok but I don't think sushi is EARLS ''cup of the''... Comon Earls... Sushi?! Really?! Nice try...!! Just one thing about their butter chicken. It's very good and authentic. But last time my friend caught a spice or something in-it. It was SO HOT that he kinda of start ''crying'' (unintentionally of course). But at some point I was worry he had an allergic reaction or something... But 5 minutes after he was alright and carefully finish is meal. And that come with an amazing and very authentic naan bread. The service is OK, not spectacular but still pretty good. Once they bring your food and asking you one time if everything is alright, you will see your server at the end of your meal. Many Downtown location. Hornby.Mainland.Robson. AWESOME!! read more

The location of this restaurant is perfect! It right next to a movie theater. Its a really nice place for date night. It has cozy, romantic ambiance at the dining area and a very lively yet orderly ambiance by the bar area. The food is prepared perfectly especially the chicken barbecue pizza that was made with specific ingredient requests. It was so far the best pizza in Vancouver. The ribs I ordered was so tender, the meat fell off the bones with no effort on my part. It was very tasty, perfectly done. The mashed potatoes on the side was delicious too. The server was very attentive and friendly as well. I wish we discovered this gem of a restaurant sooner while visiting Vancouver. I will definitely go back! I highly recommend this place. read more

A quiet dinner for one getting in late to Vancouver for a week of business ahead. It was a short walk away and from previous experiences at other locations the chain seemed to have pretty good consistency. For tonight it was beer and a special cajun chicken dish off the Test Kitchen menu. Well, that was a pleasant stumble into dish! Never knew there even was a 'test kitchen' location so that's what bumped my three star review up to four. Obviously the test item is probably not going to be a hit every time but I like the idea of it and in this case it was a really special meal for the first night of an extended business trip in Canada. read more

You really can't go wrong at Earls -- especially this one. Newly redecorated. Diverse and very consistent menu with something for everyone. Reasonably priced when you compare it to high-end Vancouver restaurants. Very predictable. Earls' strength (consistency and predictability) is also its greatest weakness. It has no charm, no character and little creativity. Each location is a cookie cutter, including its menu, decor and staff. Don't get me wrong.. none of it is bad, but it won't surprise you either. You can pretty much order anything and will be happy, but my personal favourites are the Santa Fe Chicken Salad and Chicken Baked Brie Sandwich. read more

I have wonderful memories of Earls in Vancouver, and being here on holiday and a visa renewal odyssey meant I had to take a jaunt down memory and relive the good times. Well, unfortunately they are still a distant memory. Cannot have had a more distainful, ignorant and arrogant server if I had tried. She also didn't know anything about the menu, didn't know what cuts of beef were served, was unaware about options for kids. When asked about a specific kids menu she looked down her nose at me and told me to go to White Spot. What??!! They were out of the wine I ordered. And my husband had to send back his steak as he had ordered medium and it was considerably more rare than that. They made a whole new one for him, but brought it out alone, no sides. It had been cooked so quickly that again, it was still undercooked. When we mentioned it to our waitress she screwed up her nose (literally!) and said "well maybe you're actually wanting medium well". Ha. No. Actually. We just want medium, and that my dear girl, is not medium. Please take it off the bill we won't be paying for it. Happily the manager came over and she was fantastic. She apologies profusely and took his meal off the bill, which is good because he didn't eat any of it. The fennel and walnut salad was excellent. Thus the 2 stars. Unfortunately the combination of awful service and uncooked food made for a very lacklustre experience. read more

First time at this location and I was blown away. Ashley was our server and she was just fantastic. The kitchen made me a keto style burger (lettuce wrapped) and it was one of the best I've had accompanied by the most delicious cauliflower soup. Danny Kraut (one of the kitchen staff) recommended I go to this Earls and he too was so professional, accommodating and passionate. I will for sure be back. read more

We have tried several earls. This one was nice. Staff was very kind. Food was great as always. They don't have a terrace but they have huge sitting area. The only thing of this one was that the bathrooms weren't very clean. Maybe they had a busy day because earls is always great. read more

Great place to do happy hour or grab a late night bite to eat. I've been here twice in 3 days on vacation and did not disappoint either time! Good food options, good happy hour drink options! This place is upbeat and plays music but not too loud that it ruins the atmosphere of the place. We will come back here! read more

I normally try to avoid the corporate restaurants, but I caved, and I am glad I did. I guess it's good to keep in mind that the corporate places became successful for a reason. The food is good value, but more important it's super consistent. Every. Time. I just got a burger, but my girlfriend got the blackened chicken and I was super jealous. Do it!! The happy hour specials were pretty wicked, but the best part is that they bring happy hour back at 9 PM every night. Nice atmosphere as I expected, and the server was awesome too. Which impressed me because sometimes these chains hire staff for attributes other than customer service. That's a nice way to say it right? Stoked on my experience, I look forward to coming back. read more

In Vancouver you can't throw a dead cat without hitting a Blenz, a Starbucks, or an Earls, it seems. But on night one of our weekend holiday here, this was close convenient easy and not packed. Every city needs a place like this location - big open bar, upperdeck pub food, TVs well-placed and attentive service. Barney B breaks down and becomes a fan of a chain. read more

Came to Earls to catch game six of the Canucks and Blackhawks series in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoff. We arrived just before the rush and were well looked after. Sometimes, though, I felt like our server checked up on us a bit too often. Not necessarily a bad thing (the opposite would be worse), but a little irritating when you're trying to watch hockey. Had a terrific arugula, chicken and beet salad. The perfect serving portion, packed with tons of flavor. I would definitely recommend it (I think it was called the Parmesan Chicken Rocket Salad). Followed these up with a few of their mojitos, which were OK. I wasn't a huge fan of the blended mojito -- was a little too over the top with the mint leaves. But I really enjoyed the raspberry mojito. OK service, good food and OK drinks. Earls is one of those places that always provides a consistent experience. read more

Very different from the tradtional Earl's restaurants I've been to in BC and Seattle. Not good or bad, just different. It's a very eclectic choice of foods. Service was fantastic. The look of the dining area in front of the kitchen, especially along the windows reminds me of a casual American diner. Not sure if that is good or bad, or intentional or not. Not what I would have expected of an Earl's establishment. I had the Salmon special, we had a side of fries, and I can't remember the other dish ordered. All decent, nothing to write home about. Shame I didn't get the salmon skin on, all crispy. That is a true preparation of the fish. read more

I was visiting Vancouver and we ended up eating here. Service was great. Our server was attentive. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes and were disappointed, so salty could hardly eat. I ordered the filet mignon and was disappointed in the cut. I could barely cut it with their knife . Would not order again. The pasta dish was ok. Overall disappointed in the food read more

This restaurant seemed pretty nice, had a solid menu of food and drinks. We ordered a Moscow Mule pitcher at 32oz... very watered down, couldn't taste anything other then minty water. Sent it back and was charged for it. Food took unusually long but was not bad. Won't return. read more

Came here with a few work buddies. I ordered the 10oz steak. It seemed smaller than 10oz, and it was overdone... but not overdone enough to send it back... Just overdone enough to eat it with disappointment. Does that make sense? It did have a nice salty crust which I liked. I had the clam chowder. That was good. Not thick and heavy like I'm used to, but still full of flavour. Service was pretty slow... Although, one of my colleagues was a bit of a wine snob and could have been difficult to deal with... God knows the waitress did a hella lot better than I would have. I woulda just curled up in the back and refuse to come out. So... kudos to her, but still... slow service and weak food. read more

First visit to an Earls Restaurant. Thankfully I made a reservation for a Friday night, it was packed! Atmosphere quite loud but we could a quieter table for a birthday dinner. This place was really good. Stopped by for a beer on our first day in Vancouver, and we ended up eating, too. We actually went back a few times during our trip to have some drinks and food because the vibe was really good. I had the Yucatán chicken tacos one day, and the soup and salad another day. Clam chowder was really good. All the food my buddies had, they said was really good. Also, very friendly staff and bartenders. read more

A good variety of food everything from burgers to steaks, soups, salads. Very nicely served. I ordered the gluten aware calamari, which came with small amounts of asparagus, fried jalapenos, thinly sliced radish and a couple cauliflower pieces. Generous portion of chipotle sauce on the side. Delicious!!! But, sadly, I did have a gluten intolerance reaction. My husband ordered the 6 oz. steak and 8 piece sushi meal, with a seperate side of yam fries and a 12 oz draft beer. His bill was $61. Very expensive considering portion size. My calamari appetizer with a happy hour $6 drink was $21, before tip. Service was excellent. Staff seemed happy. The manager stopped at our table and said hello. Decor was nothing memorable, dark. Lots of booths, bar seating and bar stool round tables. The only reason I didn't give the place a 5 star was the price of the meal. But it is downtown Vancouver, across from law offices and the BC Supreme Court, so maybe that is the reason for the high prices. If you're young and money is no object, this is a good choice for delicious food and happy people. read more

This Earls is one of the newest around. It's fairly large, and the location is perfect - right beside the theatre. Anyone want to enjoy dinner and a movie? The meditteranean linguine is like a party in your mouth. The only thing is that there is no good selection of desserts. They used to have this chocolate mousse cake, and then one day when I went to Earls - it was gone! POOF! It was a very sad day in my life. read more

I really like this particular Earls location. I've always recieved good service and food. They've recently removed my favorite martini (raspberry lemon drop) from the menu but are still willing to make it for me :) I recently dropped in to try out their brunch menu. I ordered the fritatta with pesto and goat cheese, quite delicious and filling. I also ordered the sour dough french toast (I know...oink oink) which was very different but good. The service was okay. Our waitress was slow to refill our drinks which is odd cause usually they're on point. This location also has the test kitchen with menu options not available at other locations! I was very tempted to try the grilled fish tacos! Next time!! read more

Tonight it was between Cactus Club, Earls, Joeys and The Keg. We decided on Earls Paramount. After an average wait to get a table, we ordered drinks and waited for the game to start. The waitress was nice and was speedy in taking our orders. After receiving our orders, we didn't see her that often. After a half hour wait, we received our food. I ordered the 9oz steak (medium rare) with a side of mushrooms. The steak was hard, and closer to a medium well-done. The rest of the food on my plate seemed to be cold... My friend ordered a stir-fry and it was the same thing. Cold. So we sent our food back. When we received our meals for a second time, it was really subpar. I don't think I would order a steak from this Earls again as it lacked flavor, which is too bad. In a city that has a lot of steak options you'd assume there would be more of an effort. If there's a next time, I'll probably just opt for a burger or appetizer. There was little done to make the situation better, from the manager, to keep us as customers. I'm not saying I expect anything, I've just seen other restaurants in this city extend more of an effort. When it comes down to it, all that matters to the waitress is the tip. My tip always reflects the efforts of the staff and not necessarily the food, and I saw very little effort from the staff to make us promoters of their restaurant. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time at this location... if you want Earls I'd recommend Robson Street or Yaletown. read more

Earls in Canada is much like BJ's in the US. It's a restaurant and bar that is pretty popular when there's a game on. Let's say, Game 5 of the Stanley Cup! It was a madhouse! The entire bar area was PACKED, but our large group of 15 were seated easily in the back where there was less of a fuss. Don't get me wrong, I love it that the big game was playing with a huge crowd handy - it reminded me of when the SF Giants were playing the World Series! For the food, my friend and I shared the full rack of ribs with spice-rubbed chicken. I would have to say, I much preferred the chicken over the ribs. The spice on the chicken was a nice blend of spice and flavor - it had a good kick but wasn't overpowering. The chicken itself was succulent probably because it was cooked with the skin on. The ribs were alright, but nothing too special for me so I won't really comment. Our server was really attentive which is always appreciative so we tipped him well. Anyway, it was a pretty good spot that can accomodate a large party short noticed with a Canucks game going on. read more

Stumbled in this place walking back to our condo after shopping. Was with my wife and 2 year old son. He was okay going in, but they don't have booster seats or high chairs because its not really a place that families go to (although I did see another family with a toddler). Food was good. Make sure you order off the test kitchen menu. We had a Vancouver take on chicken and waffles, a bacon cheeseburger, and fried wontons. Everything real good. I also got a beer that I didn't particularly like, but that's just my bad for ordering a beer I never had before in a 18 oz glass. This place was super loud. I don't mind that much, but I could barely hear my waitress. She wasn't soft spoken or anything. It was just loud in there. TV's, music, drunk after-work crowd. I like how the kitchen is open. Looked laid back in the kitchen compared to restaurants I'm used to going to, which usually is a good thing for your food quality and presentation. read more

We had one night in Vancouver, and stayed up the street. Since we arrived in the early afternoon, but not wanting anything heavy nor wanting to walk too far from where we were staying, Earl's was the most convenient option. We arrived around 1pm for lunch, and were quickly seated at a table for 2 near their kitchen. I didn't catch our server's name, but he came promptly with water and was genuinely friendly - not just a server schtick. Indecisiveness is a new phenomenon/problem for me, so when I asked for a cocktail suggestion, he mentioned I should try the mango margarita off their test menu since it was a limited time offer. It sounded different, so I thought why not! My friend had some kind of black cherry cocktail which she thoroughly enjoyed. The margarita was rimmed with paprika sugar, which I didn't quite enjoy as I thought salt would have been a much better choice. The drink was smokey because the alcohol used was mescal; the margarita was not overly sweet but without the sweet/salty combo that a salted rim would have provided, the drink just didn't wow me. Lunch was another predicament for my indecisiveness. I told our server I was open to a surprise, but that I wanted a light meal - nothing too filling or too large. To my surprise, he went to a meal with steak - not at all what I'd call a light meal, though he touted it at being so. Well, if it IS light, I sure don't want to spend $25 on a light meal. Thanks, but no thanks. I ended up on having their soup/salad combo for $14.50 - with their soup of the day being tortilla soup, served with their house green salad as well as a wedge of house made pan bread. The food came in good time and was the perfect size - certainly lighter than a steak . Unlike most broth-based tortilla soups that I have had, this one was blended and so had a creamier texture. It was spicy and tangy and very satisfying. The salad was divine - lightly dressed, and garnished with crumbled cheese, nuts and perhaps a couple other goodies. All in all, I enjoyed eating at Earl's. Their menu can pretty much appeal to anyone, and it's fun eating at their test kitchen where you have the opportunity to try something new. I definitely gave our server my honest opinion on the margarita, but that was the only item I tried from their test menu. I would definitely go back, I have no complaints at all. read more

I was here on a Sunday night for father's day, and I was super disappointed. The service was just generally bad. The server basically ignored us while the group's drinks were empty. We then waited 45 minutes for our food. Even after the food started to arrive, there was about 10 minutes between the the first and last dishes arriving at our table, and the 4 different servers that brought it seemed to be indifferent to what they were serving to who. I got a bacon cheddar burger, and while I understand that's a salty dish, this was unbelievable. It was so salty I couldn't taste anything else and could barely finish the burger. For the price of this place, I expected better. read more

I know people diss chains like this (and Cactus Club, etc.) but I find Earl's to be actually quite good. The wait staff is hired for their looks. One complaint I have is the service can be very slow. That gives you time to ogle the hot waitresses. Earls is one of those places that is the default. We just go because it is there and we know the menu by heart. This location is the test kitchen, so there are a few newbies to try out if we feel adventurous. I hadn't been for a while, so we all went. And it was not as good as the last times I went, sadly. All the dishes we ordered with seafood did not taste fresh. Especially the salmon on the test kitchen menu. It was just so disappointing - it tasted SO fishy. Like it was old and thawed out salmon with stench. The seafood taco was no good. The tuna on the chip was very mediocre. It just wasn't as fresh. The fried dishes were fine but when it's so fried and battered, it is hard to go wrong. The dessert wasn't as good as I remembered either. Just like grocery store ice cream scooped all over stuff. What happened to the Mocha Khalua pie? (okay, that's been gone for YEARS, I know...). Sadly, I will not be returning because the last experience here was marred by 2-star quality food. The service has always consistently been good, though, so at least that. But I go out to eat for the food, not really the service. read more
