I am writing this now, extremely Ill. I ordered on July 14th. Since I ate this, I cannot keep anything down and have been having extreme digestive discomfort. I think they cook everything really early in the day and then I just sits and keeps being re heated every day. Today my boyfriend and couple of his friends came here for dinner and I have to say this place is pretty good. I wouldn't say this is a must try place though but if you want fast bbq food then this is the place for you. They are quick and they deliver the food to your table. The meat was pretty hard which mean I had to chew it a lot. Usually when I go to a BBQ spot the meat is soft and it just melts in your mouth but this place doesn't really melt. If you want overpriced, poor quality barbecue, at least compared to every bbq restaurant that I have EVER been to in Chicago( for the past 40 years), and small portions as well, then Earl's is the place for you! This past Sunday was only my 3rd time wasting my money there, but my son , who came in from the suburbs, wanted bbq to watch the game with; and he ordered 3 sandwiches, 2 of them were pulled pork ( for $11.00) and a brisket sandwich ( for $13), and rib tips ($13.50). And , as I knew all too well, Earl's failed again!! The sandwiches were undersized(we ordered the large size), the fries were limp and soggy, and the rib tips, well they just weren't!! Rib tips are supposed to be , by all bbq standards, tips from baby back ribs. Therein lies the problem with Earl's menu , and the lack of honesty! The tips were not real rib tips , as they were from the top of St. Louis ( country) ribs, and the amount of meat to gristle and fat was about 15% of the tips. See picture enclosed in this review. BTW, Earl's is just up the block from my house, and we pass by this location every day, yet we were reminded yet again of the failure of a good location , and very poor management and misleading menu choices!! I would like to see a real BBQ restaurant in Jefferson Park, not this pretender! Contrary to popular belief, I guess there CAN be some solid barbeque spots that aren't on just the west and south sides of Chicago. Not gonna lie, I was shocked that this place ended up being good. The reviews I saw when it first opened weren't very good and it always seemed empty when I passed by. I had no high hopes at all. This place is right around the corner from us and it has been a few different restaurants that didn't last, I was just expecting the same with this one. But I was wrong. Earl's barbeque definitely chose the right area to become a staple neighborhood favorite and I think it's starting to happen. Jefferson Park certainly isn't Wicker Park or the west loop when it comes to good food. In fact, most places in Jefferson Park just aren't good. But Earl's barbeque is the exception. We ordered the 2 smoked meat combo and rib tip dinner for delivery through Yelp. We weren't the craziest about the sauce but the meat is super tender and smoked to perfection. I got the beef brisket and 1/4 rack of ribs and it was good! The brisket is melt-in-your-mouth flavorful and has that great smoke flavor you look for in good brisket. The ribs are OK but not my favorite. My wife enjoyed the rib tips and the baked beans. It's exceptional food overall. We are soon moving from this area but the next time I'm nearby, I will definitely stop by. Delivery was also super fast. We do live less than a mile away but hey, if it's fast, it's fast. If you have doubts about this place, put them aside and give this place a try. It just may be worth your wild. read more

I really enjoyed my brisket tacos. They had cabbage and cilantro and the sauce on the side; inside a delish perfectly fresh corn tortilla. A home run for me. My dining mate got the pulled chicken sandwich. He only wished that the chunks were more shredded. A friend of mine turned me on to this place. Great Bar B Q for a Psuedo fast food. I got the 1/4 brisket sandwich with fries. The meat was tender and had a good flavor. Even the coleslaw was not bad. I ordered a large brisket sandwich.,with a side of baked beans. Although the meat was lean, part of it wasn't even sliced...just a 2 inch thick chunk. So I had to cut it myself at home. Employee asked if I wanted extra sauce, I said yes....luckily because there was only a tiny amount on sandwich. I used my own barbecue sauce at home as only given one tiny container. The " side" of beans was laughable...in a tiny ketchup size container there were about 20 of the smallest beans I've ever seen in a watery sauce. This was 20$ tax inclusive. I came here on a Saturday night and get some food for dinner. The place was packed! I've eaten before and I have always enjoyed the food, it is fresh and delicious. My only complaint would be if the place looks dirty. It's not cool dirty it's ugly dirty! We really enjoyed our dinner at Earl's (our first trip). We got there at about 8pm on a Saturday night, and there was no line, no crowd, and a few other diners, but still plenty of room at one of several long tables. We ended up moving from where we'd originally seated ourselves, to sit in the farthest seats from the door, as a brisk carry-out business kept the door opening and closing often on a busy, chilly night. Once we'd repositioned there, the room temperature was fine. I chose the two meat platter, and my husband had the three meat one. I had the 1/4 rack of ribs (I only got three bones -- his had four), and the brisket. The ribs were good, and the brisket was outstanding. I tried their Regular sauce, and it was very good - thick and sweet, but not too sweet. He had the same two meats plus rib tips, and said they were all very good. Cole slaw comes automatically with the platter, and I chose mac and cheese as my additional side. Both were great! If you've read my other reviews, you know I usually bring half home when the portions are ample, and that's what I did this time, too. Oh, and another highlight? The Cheer Wine, a 100-year-old cherry soda made in North Carolina and available at very limited locations throughout the U.S. I've already checked out where I can get it in 2 liter bottles in the Chicago area, because it was delicious! Food - I went with the 3 item platter option. 1/4 ribs, brisket, rib tips, and coleslaw + french fries for sides. Brisket was very moist fat to meat ratio was good; some of the better brisket I've had. Rib tips were flavorful good smoke taste. Ribs were a bit dry but overall meat portions were generous. Good variety of house sauces always a plus when there are more than two BBQ sauces. Service - Order then self serve. Cashier was very helpful in helping decide, good portion sized menu and it was my first time there so she directed me to the bottom left corner and said usually first timers get the platter to try everything out. I've been to this place three times. Always through the drive through in the morning around 8:10am. Only one of the times was anyone there to you know, take an order and serve food. Why offer breakfast and state your weekday opening hour is 7am when no one will be there? I came through this morning and saw the guy out front smoking a cigarette. He saw me pull into the drive thru so I figured he was going in to you know, do his job. Nope. I sat there for 5 minutes and nothing. Then I pulled up to the window and no one there. So I knocked. No response. Done with this place. Breakfast burrito is good but I don't have time to drive all the way there only to find out they don't feel like opening up and serving breakfast. Not recommended for advanced orders: I paced an order for a half pan of pulled pork at 10am to be picked up at 4:15 pm and paid via the website. My husband arrived to pick up food and they said it wasn't ready and that they typically don't make the food until the customer arrived (I'm not sure why this wasn't stated on their website). My husband waited 30 minutes, asked for their original BBQ sauce they told him they were out of it. They handed him the food, with no apologies for wasting a half an hour of his time. We have been ordering from Earl's for over a year and it just occurred to me that I've denied them their well-deserved Yelp review. We LOVE Earl's and honestly have not had a bad order.....and we (pathetically) order quite often. I consider our household to be typical: two adults who occasionally enjoy food we don't have to make ourselves (and not pizza all the time) and two young boys who hate everything that isn't pizza or PBJ. What's a household to do? Order from Earl's! The kids meals are awesome - either a cheeseburger or hot dog with fries and a price that seems like a typo. For us adults, we have tried A LOT of the menu but we are constantly drawn back to the brisket (so flavorful and cooked perfect) or pulled pork (see brisket description above). Also, shout-out to the shakes and handmade donuts.....handmade donuts. I like to point out (not as a negative to them) that we live very close to smoque and although we love their food, we almost always order from Earl's. My father has been staying with us for the week and I just caught him looking at the earls website now...you guys it's 8:30am. I have been to Earl's BBQ numerous times and I must say I don't think they are as good as they used to be. They've been open about two years now. They started off with fair prices but they have really jumped up there since the opening. The prices aren't insane like Fat Willy's, but I don't like them all the same. I placed an order for pickup and the food wasn't ready even though they'd had 40 minutes to make it so. I didn't enjoy standing around looking at another person who was also waiting on food that should have been ready. The rib tips were good but a little too hard on top. They didn't put in any original sauce like I requested, so one person in my party was stuck using a sauce they hated. The brisket sandwich was fine. The chicken tenders were also fine, but the awful ranch and honey mustard sauce almost ruined them. We decided to try this spot out recently when we had a taste for some BBQ. We'd never had their food before, but we've ordered from there about three times since - so it's pretty damn good. The ribs with OG BBQ are delicious. I can't speak on any of the other sauces, but I'll be giving them a try at some point. The same goes for the brisket sandwich and rib tips. The BBQ World in Chicago is so much better, at least for me, now that I found Earl's..It actually took the Hungry Hound on ABC7 to draw attention to this Jefferson Park gem to me. I like what I saw- you can have breakfast- they have homemade donuts, which I did try- pretty decent compared to your downtown fancy donut places, 95 cents for one. Saw some pancakes being served, they looked great, there are some other breakfast items that looked interesting. I had a Brisket Sandwich- loads of meat, that was just perfect- great bark too on that meat! They have four different kinds of BBQ Sauce, it was good enough. The french fries- were fresh cut and perfect, just the right serving size, slaw was good, and I got a side if baked beans- a lot going on there, and it was delicious. They have Earl's Soda on tap- I tried the Root Beer, it was good, but, they also have Cheer-Wine., if you ever make it to North Carolina- Cheer-Wine is very common, not so much in these parts- try it. A few benches to eat in, and there are some outdoor tables too. There is a lot on the menu to try- ribs next time for me. They have a Drive-Thru- The staff was friendly and that counts a lot compared to another spot off the Kennedy (not far away) with great brisket, which is not so friendly. read more

I ordered the meat platter and it was so good. It was definitely very tasty. All the chicken was a little bit dry but for the most part the best is the brisket the brisket is bomb.com. It was so soft and tender and the barbecue sauce and the flavor was on point the pork and beans are real good. I recommend them the mac & cheese didn't like it but everything else was great. Ordered from Earl's for the 2nd time last night. Both experiences were good. We ordered 1/2 Smoked Chicken with Beans, Mac & Cheese and a Rib-eye Steak Sandwich. Food arrived within approx. 20 min. of placing the order. The fact that we live close by has something to do with the short wait time but, still impressed that it arrives so quickly. Everything was fresh and hot. The chicken was moist, tender, good well-smoked flavor. The steak sandwich was tasty topped with fresh arugula, tomato, red onion and a generous portion of melty mozzarella cheese. Sliced pepperoncini added a little heat. It all worked well together. Side dishes are solid but, not exceptional. With two good dining/delivery experiences, I feel good about recommending Earl's. read more

They are all different, missing items on some, different prices. I literally skipped ordering the other night because there was a menu item missing from your website.
