Outrageous charges, but excellent technician and scheduling. Eagle Air recently replaced a "high temperature limit switch" on my gas furnace. They had made an estimate of $695 (minus eventual adjustments of $99 and$100) for the switch replacement in a second visit. Together with the initial visit charge of $99, the final cost to me for the replacement was $595. Since our house was cold and I did not know the possible complexity of the work before hand I authorized the repair by one of their technicians, Trevor. Trevor was excellent, prompt, and knowledgeable - just great. In addition, the scheduling of my repair was done quickly and efficiently. However, in my opinion, the value/cost ratio of the repair was a different matter. The repair took about 5 minutes; I discovered by an online search that the price of an OEM switch was about $20. Such repairs are quoted by the job, not necessarily by labor/parts breakdowns as my car mechanic does. Nonetheless, the effective labor charge of about $475/ 5 minutes ~ $5700/hour is just astronomical for a component change requiring removal/replacement of just two screws and two electrical tab connections. I was shocked by the simplicity of the job and I called Eagle Air. I had a heated discussion with their Service Manager, who lectured me on the high overheads involved in running a small company. I do appreciate that running a business is difficult in these post-Covid days, but I would advise anyone considering using Eagle Air - or any other HVAC firm - to get a detailed explanation of the exact work and time required for any job. I did not do that, and that was on me. However, it is certainly an awakening experience to find out that a simple component replacement requires an eye-watering labor rate likely higher than that charged by a surgeon! I am wiser for this experience. Other HVAC firms might charge about the same as Eagle Air, but I will never use Eagle Air again. read more

We recently decided it was time to replace our 25yo furnace and AC units before summer kicked in and I knew that I wanted a Trane system. I contacted three of the Trane recommended installers for our area and EagleAir was very prompt in replying to my request for a quote. While all three companies were very professional, Vince Sr was definitely the most thorough in assessing our needs and inspecting our existing system and duct work. His attention to detail identified the need for asbestos removal around the duct boots which we did not know we had for the past 15yrs! After all the quotes were in, EagleAir provided the best installation price, which included asbestos remediation. All the work was done extremely quickly with tear-out starting Monday morning and final testing done on Thursday. Our City inspection/permit was completed on the following Friday. In our neighborhood, all the furnaces are in an inside closet and the are return ducts were installed in the wall right next to it. When the old furnace turned on, it sounded like rocket preparing for liftoff and air return was very noisy. The coil on the side of the house was also very loud which was mildly annoying. EagleAir moved the air return to the ceiling and put in a nice sound loop which makes a huge difference. With the new equipment and return, the furnace and air conditioning are like a whisper and you can really feel the air moving. Even the coil outside is super quiet that I had to go outside to make sure it was on! The EagleAir team was very efficient, kept the house and works space very clean, and made sure everything about the install was top notch. More than 3 weeks later, we're still smiling. Highly recommend Eagle Air Conditioning. Our 20 year old Trane furnace suddenly stopped working and I found Eagle Air through the Trane website. I was simply hoping to find a technician who was comfortable with Trane furnaces and had access to any hard-to-get parts for a quick repair. Tyler Hervey met and exceeded my expectations with his wealth of knowledge, easy demeanor, professionalism, and efficiency. You can tell someone is good at what they do when they have no problem working while someone is at their side asking questions, and Tyler was so great at talking me through my whole system, explaining the problem and the diagnosis, and pinpointing the problem in a logical, step-wise fashion. He then explained the options for repair and gave me a more than fair price for the parts, installation, and his time. He went down, had the part on his truck, installed it, replaced everything and cleaned up, and our furnace is working again better than ever. He also went the extra mile to explain other aspects of my system, as well as to take a look my downstairs furnace. All of this without any condescending or annoyed attitude you get from some technicians and no attempts to sell me on upgrades or future maintenance calls. After some shopping around I found Eagle Air. Spoke with Bill on the phone. I couldn't have been more impressed with him. He is a very honest guy, we discussed option for replacement of my outside AC unit. He could have sold me on a more expensive unit but he knew cost was a big thing for us and suggested a unit that would work for our home and fit in our budget. Bill really went above and beyond with us. He came to our home and verified that the unit outside was bad, answered all of our questions, even showed up on the day of the install. I never expected the owner to be so involved, he could have very easily passed me off to one of his employees. On the day of the install Johnny and Brandon came to my home. They arrived when they said they would be there. Both were very nice and friendly guys and explained to me what they were doing. When they finished they cleaned up after themselves and made sure I was happy and that all my questions were answered. Bill took the time to setup the follow up inspections for me. He made the process so easy. It seems that customer service is lacking as a whole these days. Eagle Air is the exception to this. Their customer service is awesome. I wish more companies would work like Eagle Air. I would not hesitate to call them again. My hallway AC unit had a condensate leak that was soaking the floor in the adjacent room, and it's been some time since the unit has had a maintenance service. I regularly receive several AC service mailers, looked over their online reviews, and chose Eagle Air for their good reviews. Garrett showed up on time as scheduled today, was extremely friendly, polite and professional. He showed up wearing a mask, put clean shoe covers on before entering my house, and followed all social distancing protocols. He expertly diagnosed and fixed the leak problem, and then proceeded with the maintenance check. He explained everything he was checking for and what the nominal spec values should be for parameters such as motor current, system charge pressure, etc. After a thorough inspection, Garrett gave my system a passing grade for now, but clearly showed me where the compressor start capacitor has a slight leak, and where the AC/furnace motherboard has some corrosion damage that might cause problems in the future. I appreciate the heads up and the advice. The pricing was reasonable for such expert service, so my total experience with Garrett and Eagle Air exceeded my expectations. I had a terrible experience with Eagle Air Conditioning in Livermore. I reached out through Yelp for an issue with my LG mini-split not heating. Their technician came out, took a quick look at the system, and admitted they couldn't pinpoint the issue. Instead, they recommended replacing the entire system, claiming repairs could run into the thousands with no guarantees. I requested a quote for the replacement, and the price was shocking--over $25K, including financing options! To make matters worse, the technician outright said they don't recommend LG systems, which felt unprofessional and biased. They also quoted $335 per pound for refrigerant, which was ridiculously overpriced. Thankfully, I contacted my regular technician from Urban City Mechanical. They came out, identified the actual issue (a refrigerant leak), fixed it, and refilled the refrigerant--all for $1,600. They charged $90 per pound for the same refrigerant Eagle quoted at $335! This experience felt like either incompetence or a blatant attempt to upsell me on an overpriced system. I even lost the $99 service fee for them to "diagnose" the problem and misguide me. I'm just glad I didn't fall for it. I cannot recommend Eagle Air Conditioning and will not use their services again. read more

I had a technician come out to diagnose an issue with my air conditioning. He found that the blower tap for AC mode was set to medium-low instead of high, so he switched the speed to high. While the unit was working as well as it could under those conditions, he pointed out that my house (3200 square feet) has 9 tons of AC, which would typically handle a 5400-square-foot space. He also mentioned that the ducting was undersized for the system and recommended a rework of the ducting and insulation, estimating it would cost around $15k. After the visit, we didn't notice any improvement in airflow. Feeling unsure about the suggested expensive solution, I called a different technician for a second opinion. They found that the issue was a simple blown fuse in the compressor and fixed the ducting alignment. This completely resolved the airflow problem without needing the major rework the first technician suggested. While the first technician did find some issues, I wish he had provided a more accurate root cause. His recommendation of a costly rework without exploring simpler solutions first left me frustrated. Thankfully, the second technician saved me a lot of money and fixed the issue. read more

We wanted to avoid calling for an HVAC technician at this busy (expensive) time of year, but when our AC finally pooped out during the recent streak of 95F days, we had no choice. The air coming out of the AC vent was as hot as our house air. We called Eagle Air and they sent out a technician to inspect our unit. Tyler was well skilled and able to quickly diagnose likely problems in our unit. He had spare capacitors in his truck and it took only 20 minutes of actual labor to replace the faulty old parts. Surprisingly, despite the fact that we never had the unit inspected in the prior 17 years of use, installing two new capacitors restored performance to the level of a new unit: the low- and high-pressure freon circuits matched new specs, and the cooled air from the AC was was chilled to 21F below house air. The capacitors were not cheap, but I was thrilled to have like-new performance for what seemed to me to be a reasonable price. Tyler spent more than an hour at our place, but a good chunk of that time was used to explain to me details of the equipment and the repair. I felt lucky, both to have a working AC, as well as to have a new contact for expert and fair-priced HVAC service. read more

Our furnace had to be replaced and the A/C and the coil would need to be replaced in the not too distant future. We got several bids from multiple vendors/contractors and felt most comfortable with EagleAir. We found Vince Wheeland competitive, cooperative and friendly. Vince didn't push for A/C and the coil and advised us what it would cost us to replace them down the road. We chose to replace the entire HVAC system as it would save us some money in the long run. Our house is just over 20 years old and the fence may have been too close to the A/C unit. Before the bid was accepted, Vince checked with the city of Pleasanton and made sure that the A/C unit can be grandfathered. The unit was installed as scheduled by a 2-person professional and courteous team. I am very impressed with the entire EagleAir team. The only reason I am giving them 4 starts instead of 5 stars because it took much longer to get the final city inspection scheduled and it didn't pass the first time. Of course EagleAir made the necessary changes promptly and the inspection passed the 2nd time. I would highly recommend them for HVAC services. read more

Very happy with my newly installed Trane HVAC system. I highly recommend Eagle Air. At first, I was hesitant to get popular brand units because of my limited budget. Vince told me the Trane units are not so expensive as I thought. They get discounts from Trane and they pass it on to their customers. I told him to give me a budgetary quote. Vince quote turned out competitive among other bids. I made some proposals to Vince if he can consider my budget and it so happen the proposals I made were fair enough. I closed the deal with him and got a scheduled installation right away. Eagle Air's technicians are professionals and knows what they are doing. They even installed my new wifi thermostat and made sure it got connected to my phone. Time will tell how reliable Trane HVAC system and I hope not to use the labor and manufacturer's warranties. For now, I am very satisfied with my investment. It took me two months to find Eagle Air. While the above description is accurate, there's another reason that I am writing this yelp review. One can always tell the quality of a company by the way they behave when something goes wrong. A bad company runs from mistakes. A good company doesn't, they take ownership of errors, fix them, and make sure the customer is happy. Eagle Air is that company. During our attic installation, there was an accident that caused property damage. Eagle Air took ownership, brought in contractors to mitigate and repair the damage and put it all back EXACTLY as it was prior to the accident. Accidents happen and Eagle Air's owner handled it personally, professionally, and responsibly. Eagle Air is a company with great products/service AND for being trustworthy and following through. Bill, We want to let you know how pleased that we are that we chose Eagle to install our new heating and air conditioning system. We looked at other companies but were impressed with the time that you spent going through our home, listening to our concerns and designing a system, not only the type of furnace and a/c units, but to develop an improved airflow to maximize the heating of our home. We have noticed such an improvement that we find it gets too warm and have reduced the temperature without sacrificing comfort! As you will recall one of our complaints with our old system was the noise level. Your suggestion to remove the ceiling vent in the family room has worked wonders to reduce the noise. We think this change has also made the family room warmer and more comfortable to sit in. If you recall this was the clearly the coldest room in the house. He knew I was nervous about the whole process and took the time to explain what would be involved and what to expect. No pressure or hard sell - and he even advised me to get other quotes to compare before making any commitments (which I did). I chose Eagle Air for several reasons - competetive pricing, professionalism, product, service - but more importantly - I trusted them. The install guys (Brandon and Rocky) were great and showed up EXACTLY on time and were respectful of me and my home (and were very careful not to let the cats out). My wife and I have recently moved to a extensively remodeled home. One of the improvements is a complex 4 zone HVAC. The system was installed by a company that has gone out of business. The system has had a lot of problems and never worked properly. We looked for a knowledgeable company with experience in Trane systems. After a few misfires we found Eagle Air, by using a recommendation from Trane. Eagle Air has been great. The people are customer focused and respectful of our needs. They show up on time and in our case stuck with an installation problem, not of their making. We now have a system, which is functioning properly and a company we can rely on for service. Over the weekend my furnace was not working correctly. Got a glowing recommendation for Eagle Air from a friend. Called Eagle on Monday and had an appointment for Tuesday morning. Technician Tyler was right on time, gave me an estimate for a new circuit board and transformer (not necessary but looking pretty old; whole system is pretty old). Upon my authorization, ordered the parts and made appointment for Tuesday morning to replace. Came right on time Tuesday and replaced the parts. Once the furnace was working, Tyler discovered the thermostat was not working correctly. Installed a new thermostat at no charge; washed both the first filter and the electrostatic filter for no charge. Furnace is now working. Tyler was very polite, efficient and pleasant. Would definitely recommend. May sign up for periodic inspections and electrostatic filter washing. read more

The air conditioner stopped working at my parents house during the hottest week of the year. I started by calling a different company for help, still 7 days later have never received a call back from my message. Eagle Air answered the phone on the first call and quickly set up an appointment, and even called me back when an appointment opened up sooner. Garrett was the technician that visited. He called in advance of the appointment to let us know he was on his way, right on time. The air conditioner in question is 35 years old. Instead of simply replacing expensive parts, Garrett diagnosed the problem as simply some bad wiring connections. He thoroughly fixed the problem and explained in detail what he did.
