I pretty much considered this company an angel that saved my entire house and marriage. Basically I had a home warranty company send out a guy asses a A/C unit that was completely shot without the previous owner telling us when we purchased the home. After a bad assessment from the first of company my request was completely denied by the home warranty company. I was so mad I demanded another opinion, enter E &A. This guy came right over THE NEXT DAY and literally took two hours taking pictures and assessing my A/C that was leaking. Within two days I have an approval from my home warranty company, and they are covering over 5 grand just because the worker properly assessed my unit. They will start the replacement soon but what a relief!!!! read more

Useless.... This company was sent through our home warranty with American Home Shield. The first call (6/29) the assessment was the unit was low on Freon so they pumped in 3 lbs. of the stuff and off they went. A week later, the unit stopped cooling again, and they were sent out a second time (7/8) at which time there was a part that was burned out (showed us the part) replaced it, and they're on their way again. Exactly a week later (7/14), the unit stops cooling a third time, while we're out of town, and we still have to go through AHS to schedule a third service call. I had to call E&A early in the morning to confirm a return call with a "Master Technician" and they told me they could not come out until a day later. Nope. Not acceptable. And AHS won't change vendors until this contractor has told us it's repaired or that they can't make the repair. So according to AHS, the company should have a 'three strikes' rule before someone else comes out and actually fixes the problem. read more

They were sent out as a "2nd Opinion" from American Home Shield to do the honest job (which they did well) to follow up the last air cond company sent to me who did a fraudulent and rip-off service. I had been fried and wasted so much time and energy and upset on the last one. Leo from E&A had the job done right in a flash. The prior company had tried to defraud lots of unnecessary work and parts and money. E&A had the job correctly, simply and easily done. God bless them for being competent and honest. Now I know to check Yelp reviews before accepting an assigned contractor from the home warranty. The bad outfit before had dozens and dozens of hate and fraud reviews on Yelp. I looked online and after their debacle with me to see how they were rated by other customers and learned they were despised and several reviews said they were reporting them and suing! Got assigned E&A through our home warranty which was our first claim. I wasn't sure how the process was going to be, but I'm glad it was with them. Compressor failed and was not blowing cold air. In late June, during a brief heat wave where I live in the San Fernando Valley, I started the air conditioning in my house, and detected a foul odor coming from the air ducts. A neighbor confirmed he smelled the same thing. I had purchased the house less than one year earlier. When I bought it, the house had been newly remodeled, with all new appliances, and the HVAC was new -- so at the time we detected the odor, the HVAC was less than one year old. Because the home was still less than a year old, I contacted my home warranty insurance company, First American. They designated E&A Mechanical to inspect the system and (presumably) make any necessary repairs. E&A Mechanical sent out a technician to inspect the system. The tech spent 20 minutes assessing the system, and informed me that there was "mold", and that $3000 in repairs would be needed. These repairs included creating a new plenum, and adding a $1000 plenum, a $1400 air scrubber, and a $600 unspecified "cleaning". He told me that these repairs would not be covered by the warranty, and would have to come out of my pocket. He urged me to schedule an appointment right then, because they would be very busy doing repairs and installations during the summer. I called my warranty company to verify that the recommended repairs were not covered. They confirmed that if these repairs needed to be done, they would not be covered by warranty. However, the warrant company agent told me he wanted to give me some "friendly advice". He said that the A&E tech had not submitted a report of his work (this was about a week after the visit), and he urged me not to hire A&E until the tech had submitted his report. This would be for my protection in case there was any problem with the repair. I was suspicious about the $3000 estimate, so I called another HVAC company (Custom Aire) and paid them do to a thorough inspection. They came today, spent 30 minutes assessing the system, and took pictures. The Custom Aire tech informed me the system was very new, had absolutely no mold, was working perfectly, and no repairs were needed. He suggested that the smell two weeks earlier may have been due to not using the system for many months, and I assume he was right, because there is now no smell. He shook his head when I shared information about E&A Mechanical and their $3000 repair estimate, and said it was "sad" that such people gave honest HVAC companies a bad name. Based on the fact that the A&E tech did not submit a report to the warranty company within one week of his inspection, and his recommendation of $3000 in repairs that would come out of my pocket and were absolutely unnecessary, I would recommend not hiring EA& Mechanical for any HVAC work, or at the very least, getting a second opinion if you do. read more

We started our claim on 9/11 through our warranty company, first American, and we had the technician named Andrey to come out and look at our AC unit. After about 20 minutes, he determined that the AC had no power and we needed to call an electrician to fix the power (circuit breaker) because that was the problem. We had an electrician come out the same day, and he determined that the AC was faulty and not the circuit breaker. Called back the E&Mechanical with the new information and they only had an appointment available for Thursday that week (3 days later). Mind you, that we have no AC during this time in 90+ weather. But I decided to be patient and waited for Andrey to come back out on Thursday, only to tell us that we need a new compressor and I qoute " god know how long that will take". Next week (Tuesday) - E&A mechanical receives the part and PO number from my warranty, but STILL is not able to get us an appointment until the week after that (Monday). By This time, I am furious, but could do not much than to agree... Next Monday - Andrey arrives on time and fixes the compressor in our house. Once he is done, the air is still not cooling, he determines that the evaporator coil now needs to be replaced and again he states " god know how long that will take". After he leaves, I kindly asked him he can submit his report (that needs to be provided to my warranty in order to buy the right parts) as soon as possible, he agreed and said his office would have it within the next 10-15 min. 2 hours go by and I decide to give the office a call - no report. 24 hours I give the office a call NO REPORT! NOW ITS BEEN 48 HOURS AND THERE IS STILL NO REPORT!! apparently they could not get a hold of their own tech (which to me, is unacceptable) and the rpeort is still not with my warranty company! This is absurd... will never use this company again! read more

I was connected with E and A Mechanical through my home warranty company, Old Republic. A rep came to my home and took pictures. Didn't actually inspect anything. After just over 2 weeks, I reached back out to them. They claimed that they had submitted the pictures to Old Republic. I called Old Republic and was advised that they had not received anything and that all vendors were currently pre-authorized to complete all covered requests. I have tried multiple time to get back in touch with E and A Mechanical. They don't answer their phone and the message says to text them. They also do not respond to texts. It has not been over a month since the rep took pictures, and I have NO resolution and NO contact. Horrible customer service! read more

RUN! It took this company from 2/4 to 2/23 (3 weeks) to do a simple heater ignition switch swap. I think they are by far the worst contract repair company I've ever dealt with. I had to use them because they work for American Home Shield (ahs). I was contacted by them immediately after I filed the service request with ahs (they were eager to get the business). It was Monday 2/4/19. They showed up on Wednesday 2/6/19, and inform me that they need a part and would be back by latest next week Monday. Update: Today is Thursday 2/14/19. I had to call them at least twice. Each time I was on hold for min 25 min. Then the dispatcher answer was "we get back to you" but they never called. It seems they messed up in ordering parts but didn't want to admit it. Dispatch is unfriendly, unaccomodating and frankly unprofessional. The scheduled is for tomorrow despite the fact that they told me they set up the repair time immediately after they receive the parts. Tomorrow will be the 12th day, if the repair happens. I have no confidence they even do a good repair job. Update: today 2/15/19 they showed up for repair and wa la, I was told that the wrong/faulty part was received and they have to reorder again. They said they will back 2/20/19. I will update my post when/if they showed up. Update 2/23/19: after 10 different phone calls to ahs and unfriendly E&A dispatch, today my heater got fixed by changing one ignition switch. It just took this company 3 weeks from 2/4 to 2/22 to do a simple ignition switch swap. They need an award. read more

Two Stars for a Yelp "Meh. I've experienced better." The circuit board controlling our AC died. We found this out when a separate HVAC company we had schedule for maintenance came to do the maintenance, found this issue, and told us they don't service broken units. So we called our home warranty (First American) about getting it fixed. They assigned E & A Mechanical to us, and we got a first appointment within the week. After filing the service request (Tuesday afternoon) E & A called us promptly on the same day to schedule the appointment Thursday morning. So far so good. I let them know the issue over the phone (circuit board is dead, here's our model, etc-- the issue had been professionally diagnosed at this point) and they promised they would let the technician know. On Thursday Morning, technician Karen arrived on time. He had not been told any of the details around the issue we faced, and didn't seem to listen when I told him what the issue was. After about 15 minutes of work, he told me that our circuit board was dead and that they would need to order a new one. This is not exactly a revelation, and a little frustrating given the effort we made to convey the exact nature of the issue, with the hope that they would order the part in advance and we could be one-and-done with this service call. Karen said it would probably be 2-3 days for E&A to get the replacement from ordering it, and that E&A's office will call when they do. Three days after our appointment, I called E&A and am left on hold for 10 minutes. After hanging up and calling back I'm able to talk to a person, who kindly lets me know that the part should arrive in another day, and they'll call me to schedule the followup appointment, all of which does happen. It's now the morning of the followup appointment, and about halfway through the appointment window I was given, I call E&A for an update on the technician's ETA. I'm on hold for 10 minutes. I hang up and call back and get through to someone immediately. They tell me that the appointment window has been moved back by an hour, which is news to me. Turns out they shifted the window the day before, and didn't call, text, or email with the update. The technician shows up at around 11:20. It's Karen again. He has the part and gets right to work. Within a half hour, our AC is back online, and blowing cold air. E & A got the work done, but their professionalism and communication are all over the place. It felt like sometimes they were right on it, but at other times it was like pulling teeth (getting left on hold for 10 minutes and forgotten, not getting schedule updates, them not giving the technician the info we had sent). Overall, I would not work with E&A again without trying a few other options. I think technician Karen did a good job on the actual work, but I was frustrated by communication difficulties in my interactions with him. I got the impression that E&A was easy to talk to when it came to booking work, but that it was difficult to get information out of them without a lot of effort and that they required a level of followup and vendor management that were unnecessary. If they had fixed their communication issues, and were easier to work with, I would give them a higher rating, but as it stands I was frustrated through much of my experience with them. read more

Horrible Experience dealing with them through my home warranty company. Problem started almost three weeks ago. I called the warranty company and they assigned E & A and said they would contact me, but they never did. I called E & A up; it took forever to get a hold of someone on the phone and was put on an extended hold several times. Was finally told the soonest appointment was in 10 days. So suffered through 10 days off heat with no AC. On the 10th Day the technician finally showed-up and was actually on-time. He was able to get the A/C turned on. However, there was a secondary problem with a leak that he should have noticed, if he spent more than a few minutes checking things out. So I had to call for a second appointment, this time I was told it was 7 days before they can have someone out. The tech spent about five minutes looking at the unit and told me he fixed the problem and left. The problem was not solved and the AC proceeded to start leaking soon after he left. Called E & A and Warranty company back again and the same tech was sent back out the next day. At least I didn't have to wait a week this time. However, this time the tech told that condenser needs to be replaced, which is covered by warranty. However, to get to the condenser they need to move ducts which are not covered by the warranty and should be replaced. I told him that is fine, I will be happy to pay them to replace the ducts, just let me know how much and how soon they can fix it. He said he would need to talk to his boss and the warranty company, but someone would need to get back to me later in the day. Two days later still no word back, so I called the warranty company. They told me they were still waiting for a report from E & A. They tried calling them with me on the line, but could not reach anyone. Another two days later I get a message from the warranty company saying that may claim was not approved since they don't cover duct work and I should contact E & A if I have questions. I called E & A once again and once again waited on hold for long period. When I finally got a hold of someone, they said the same thing as the warranty company, that duct repairs were not covered in the warranty and they would need to move the ducts to access the condenser. I explained to the person on the phone that I understood that and I am more than willing to hire and pay them for the duct work. She told me someone would need to call me back. It is two days later and no call back. At this point I am giving up. It isn't about the warranty claim and saving on the repair cost. I just want my AC fixed. So I've trying another company that has excellent reviews on Yelp. Hopefully better luck with them. Seems like there is a racket going on with E & A and the warranty company. read more

The service guy replaced 3 parts on my AC, Shredder Vslve, Capacitor and Condenser fan motor. He didn't explain to me why they needed replacement but when I google all these repairs I doubt if my AC really needed all of those replaced maybe one of them only basing from my research. Then I was charged $360 for the refill of freon, again he didn't tell me if its leaking or maybe I do but not that expensive. read more

Homeshield claim no a/c during this heat wave. Yes I had to wait three biz days and yes it was a challenge getting ahold of E&A. But if you trust the process it will get done. Alan or Alex was tech and he was helpful and professional. He asked some questions and identified a starting point, did his thing and the a/c was running in less than no time. I have no issues with quality or experience- service delivered as promised. Phone system or message system maybe needs overhaul but i am only rating on the outcome with this type of experience. Absolutely horrible service and work!!!! I was given this company to do insurance repair work by American Home Shield. The first time the repair man came out here to fix the heater, I sat there and watched everything he was doing. Thank goodnes I did, because if you take your eyes off these jokers, they will try to do some rigging job. My repair tech wasn't really trying to explain anything to me while he was working. The less he tells me I bet he's thinking the crappier a job he can do. He was tryingnall kinds nonsense with some copper wire he stripped from some cablemand it wasn't working. Finally he determines it must be a thermal fuse, but doesn't tell me that. He then strips a thicker piece of cable and that's when I questione he is doing as I see the part he removed. At this point I tell him he's not putting that copper wire in to replace the part he took out. Thank god I was watching him all this time, otherwise if that did work, I could be running the risk for a fire when the system overloads with no fuse in place. After going back and forth he finally decides he will replace the fuse with another one, but that will take at least 5 business days to arrive. I had to demand he give me paperwork showing what he did. Apparently yhis is a big no no for him as they try to document as little as possible and just bill the insurance whatever they want as long as it's below the max. When I asked him if he cant fix the unit, will he report that to the insurance company, and he told me NO. We come to today, and the same guy comes out. Note, I also called my insurance company to complain, but that didn't do much. I'll be cancelling them and just saving that money for my own repairs. So he starts work and doesn't even come prepared. Asks to borrow a step ladder and a flashlight. He starts work and I'm watching himthe entire time. He finishes, asks me to turn the unit on, and then seals up the area. I don't get a chance to i spect the area, and when I ask him to stay at least 20 min to ensure that the heater is working, he says no. I say I'm going to call the insurance company while he is still here and he says that he wont talk to them. We argue a little, and I blew my top and dropped an F-bomb. I felt bad, but he doesn't care one bit about me and my safety. To end this, he just grabs his gear and takes off. No receipt, no nothing. The thing to note here is that they will do whatever it takes to leave without having to ever say the unit needs to be replaced. The insurance company gives out the contract work based on how little money they have to pay out. So if company A doesn't ever have to replace anything, but company B (let's say they are more honest) does initiate repair claims, company A will get more work in the future. It's designed to screw the customer in the end. Oh well, I will not be renewing my policy with AHS, and go out on my own as pretty much everything I replaced when I bought the place. Technician lied on the report to have my claim denied because I was unhappy with him telling me that it could cost $2,000 to them for uncovered repairs. He told the Home Warranty company the damage was caused by Pet Urine. When I called him to ask if he said that he hung up on me and than blocked my calls. I would be careful with this company. Just had an awful experience with these guys. Our warranty company (AHS) sent Karen over to take a look at our broken AC unit. He cam and diagnosed the problem but said he can't fix it. Unfortunately he couldn't explain whether HE can't fix it, or his company can't fix it or what. This just happened and the company's office is closed, so there's no getting an explanation.
