He is a competent professional and trusted contractor with a solid team of subcontractors who have been doing this work for decades. With this renovation, we brought our 1912 Craftsman bungalow down to the studs. This was a full-gut renovation that involved replacing all mechanicals, drywall, new bathrooms, new kitchen and doing a primary bath addition. With Gary's construction expertise, we were able to restore the home while maintaining its original charm and bring our design to life. Some of Gary's many contributions included framing a new tray/drop ceiling, installing custom window and door casings to match the originals. He also rebuilt the front porch railings and reinforced the porch ceiling so it would accommodate a porch swing. He built our backyard studio shed in just a couple days and it's adorable. While nearly everything is new, you can't tell. And that is a compliment to the quality of craftsmanship. Gary doesn't cut corners and it shows. It is very important that you trust your contractor and that they have integrity and do what they say they are going to do. Experience is also very important. Gary has all of this. We will definitely be calling Gary for the next house we buy. We can't recommend him enough.

Incompetent and careless. They did work repairing our kitchen a few years ago after mold. What they…read moresaid would be a 2 week job turned into probably 5 months. Writing this now because I just saw an outlet underneath the sink that's not at all mounted to the wall and was reminded of how ridiculous this whole ordeal was. They'd come maybe 2 times a week, maybe less, sit in the driveway and wait for each other for a while, and they'd always forget what they were supposed to do. Then they'd say "ah ya we remember now, gotta go to Home Depot" and take another 1-2 hours. The pace of work was incredibly slow. When they were redoing our kitchen, we came home and saw that the main handyman had bought cabinets for the sink that opened straight into the fridge and stove, so you could barely open them. It was on a corner, so clearly a corner / lazy Susan cabinet was needed. Delayed the job by however many days. They cracked the sink they put in, and there's carvings in the countertops from where they messed up with sloppy cutting. When they installed the AC window units, they stained the window panes, sink, and the outside of the house with the insulation foam and didn't attempt to clean it until I asked. They didn't get much up; still stained. They didn't put calking around the countertop they put in behind the sink. There were a bunch of other times where similar things happened that I had to ask them to redo it or do a part of the job they'd missed.

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. Even after everything was finished, they guaranteed that they would come back and fix anything that needed fixing. Cannot recommend them enough if you want to improve or build your new home!

Shawn was easy to reach, responsive, and great to work with throughout the project. The crew showed up on time, kept things clean, and finished everything in under 5 weeks. Definitely recommend MDM Remodeling if you're doing a bathroom remodel in Los Angeles we'll be using them again.

The project ran about six months. The short version: we'd hire them again. The longer version: Jacob, the design lead, is the reason we went with them. He has a genuine passion for old buildings and pushed to preserve original details that another contractor would have torn out without a second thought. That instinct matters when you're working on something irreplaceable. Ken managed the project more quietly but kept things moving. And when issues came up after the job was done -- after the final check had been cashed -- Jacob, Ken, and the owner Sage came back and made it right. That's not nothing. That's actually rare. Were there setbacks? Yes. If you've hired contractors in LA, especially on older properties, you know what you're signing up for. New Dawn isn't immune to that reality. They're not the cheapest option and not the most expensive either. But they're the kind of crew that stands behind their work, and in this city, that's worth writing a review about.

Design lead Kim was friendly, helpful, and his suggestions were always on point. The day to day Project Manager Jorge was amazing, truly a standout in his field. I honestly can't overstate how refreshing and helpful it was to work with Kim and Jorge. The work was completed faster than I expected without being rushed, and it honestly blew me away how the crew managed it all like clockwork. All construction projects are journey, and this one definitely came to a happy ending.

After hearing the plan and the pricing we hired him to redo our roof to the Owens Corning shingles and a new electrical panel with a solar system and batteries. Even though the county made us face alot of hurdles they completed the work in a timely manner, the workers were attentive to detail and every concern we had was answered right away. We loved the work and this company so much that we decided to let them remodel our pool and backyard. Our pool was in horrible shape, they redid the plaster, installed mini pebbles and new pavers. Our backyard looks stunning. Unlike the typical contractor- client relationship the other people on the job were very responsive to my questions.Half the time clients struggled to get what they want or to interject their contribution to the project, Ben and his team listened. We were able to come up with a good working plan. Even if it didn't get done right away. The response was timely and correct. The next time we dealt with the people, construction was right after the Eaton fire. Thankfully, our house suffered only minor damages. And did not destroy altogether, like many other houses in my neighborhood. Ben, called me right away to check up on us. Which was nice, but we already told them that we are working with the contractor that the insurance company assigned to us and with an independent public adjuster. Ben, said, if this not going to work out, call me back. 6 months later after nothing got done I indeed called Ben. Ben showed up the next day with his insurance specialist, jordan, and they both came up with the plan. The repairs and the fire restoration starts. The very next day and jordan was able to negotiate the payout amount on our behalf .With the insurance company. They remodeled pretty much our entire house, the kitchen. The bathroom, the flooring, the painting insulation, new water heater. In consultation with ben and jordan, we planned to introduce state of the art appliances and changes in our home.It was good to do this because we have greater energy efficiency. We have less heat loss. And literally everything works the way it should. So this project takes us into, and i'm not going to say the next century, but takes us into the next decade. And we expect to have very good life span on all of these materials. Because they are high-grade. I would recommend we the people as a construction consultant, and ally in the project. Simply because the communication is outstanding. And we ended up getting what we wanted.
