Based on advertised prices I thought it was cheaper than Sports Basement. When picking up the gear they add on an extra 10% for mandatory insurance and then charge sales tax. Sports Basement charges neither of these fees making Old Town more expensive. I wish I had just gone to Sports Basement. Sports Basement rents gear that is either current model year or max 2 years old with very knowledgeable employees and at the same or cheaper prices! I tried to support local, but I will not make that mistake again and will exclusively rent from Sports Basement.

They have a great selection and plenty to browse through, which makes the experience enjoyable for collectors of all levels. However, I was a little disappointed that I didn't see any single card boxes to dig through--only sealed blaster and hobby boxes behind the counter. It's possible I missed them, but from what I could tell, singles weren't readily available. The biggest concern for me was the pricing. As a newer collector, I was already a bit nervous about choosing the right boxes, and seeing some items marked significantly higher than retail made me hesitant to buy. For example, the most recent Topps NBA Holiday Box was priced at $60, even though we had just purchased the same box at GameStop for $35 and it's still widely available at that price. Since it doesn't seem to be a rare or hard-to-find product, the markup felt a little excessive. On the positive side, the customer service was genuinely great. The employee who helped us took the time to talk with us and seemed truly willing to assist with anything we needed. That part of the experience definitely stood out in a good way. Overall, while I appreciated the variety and the friendly service, the pricing made me hesitant to spend money during this visit. I may do a bit more research and give the shop another try in the future, but based on this first impression, I wasn't fully comfortable making a purchase yet.

My good friend recommended the Coliseum to purchase my soccer gear and I had a great experience! The store is right off of the San Pedro exit on Highway 101 in San Rafael. It's a relatively small store, but they carry a large selection of merchandise. When I arrived, the employee working fit me for cleats. He was incredibly helpful and gave great suggestions for styles that fit my very narrow feet. I finally decided on a pair of Nike women's cleats, which were the last pair on sale (score!) He also helped me pick out a few pairs of socks and shin guards. I really appreciate all of the help from the crew at the Coliseum. I found everything that I was looking for during my visit and I plan to return for future purchases. If you're looking into buying gear in bulk, I was told that they offer discounts to teams.
