    Front air strut replacements

I have a 2006 E500 that I take very good care of. Although there are always many cars on this lot that are as old or older than mine... every time that I take my car in for a repair now, I'm told that the repair is so pricey, that I should just consider getting another car. Since I'm very busy as a camera crane operator for a local television station, I don't have time to shop around for another shop, and this kind of treatment forces me to park my car in my driveway, until I have time to fix it myself. I've had to make time to change my front air struts, my alternator, my charcoal canister, and now my rear air bags. Mike told me: To change my rear air bags, and lower control arms would be around the $7000 mark. I bought 2 Arnott A2724 rear bags for $650 for the set, and it takes the average mechanic about 4 hours to complete the job with the right tools. I can also find a full set of lower control arms ANYWHERE for about $200, and a pro shop can complete both sides of the car in a couple of hours. (see pictures below) Is this rejection 'personal? Well, I feel dissed, and I believe that it is... but who can say for certain? One thing IS for certain however... I'll NEVER set foot back on this lot for EITHER of my Benz's, to be treated like: "We think that you can't afford the repairs for your car, so We'd Rather Not Help You" *: (

Dipstick does show clean or dirty oil!

Do not trust Dynamic they lie & are very dishonest!! I just took my Mercedes to them for an inspection because I am selling it and they said "motor oil was filthy and that it shows not being changed regularly". I just had the oil changed 2 days ago and I do it religiously! So I went back to the place that changed my oil & told them what Dynamic had stated & my guy showed me that the oil was clean & clear. Also Dynamic said that my tires are 5 years old & should be replaced regrardless of wear, my mechanic said that is not true & they look fine. I also just looked it up on Consumer Reports and it states SUGGESTED every 6 years but definitely before 10 years! I would not trust this place!! Read the reviews, reviews don't lie like they do!!

Firstly, I did not expect you to be the "cheapest" shop in town. I knew you were not a "discount shop" but I did expect you to provide "highest value" for all necessary/legitimate repairs. My complaint was not about your pricing, it's about your up charging the oil change quote and your recommending the unnecessary brake job. Regarding the comment from Ken M. of Dynamic Performance, there are a few misstatements that need to be corrected. 1) You did not "misquote" the oil change over the phone. You "misquoted" the oil change in person. Mike saw the car. He knew it was a 2007 Maserati Quattroporte. He said it would cost me between $120 and $150 depending on the cost of the filter. 2) The brake pads that you removed were not substandard. They were top of the line Brembo (see photos). The photos also show that the pads had a lot more than 30% and 50% remaining. 3) I did give Mike verbal approval for all work when he called to say my brakes needed replacing but we did not discuss oil change or brake pricing. https://s3-media3.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/HKjigUXjVqfRDVk5K2c-8Q/168s.jpg https://s3-media2.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/UL_AFV9AHM9gZU4rdUImEQ/168s.jpg FYI....I am also an executive/professional and am part of the "Beach Cities community" who expects quality work at reasonable prices. Also, I am familiar with your history in the community. I remember when you opened your business. We brought our Mercedes to you for servicing 30 years ago. My wife loved bringing our car there. We were always happy with the service you provided. That's why I stopped in with my Maserati to see if you could do the oil change. This will be my last response regarding this unpleasant subject!!!

Bryce and Alan and Henry got my tire job done and, as always, at a fair price (far more reasonable than any other place I've seen, and I am, admittedly, a bit of a car girl). For about two and a half of those years, I had very few issues and the staff was generally pleasant. Most of the problems have started within the last six months. Six months ago, I went in for an oil change and an alignment. This was a standard service. The first thing they did was try to upsell me on a new battery. I had replaced my battery one month prior. When I asked them to show me the battery readings, they refused. They also tried to upsell me on several fluids and a cabin filter replacement without showing me the condition of my current cabin filter. Before the service even began, I told them very clearly that I did not want to be sold anything and that I only wanted an oil change and an alignment. We went back and forth for five minutes before they finally gave me my keys back. Strike one. The next issue involved a TPMS sensor replacement. They quoted me $185 per sensor and told me over the phone that they would price match any competitor, guaranteeing they are the lowest price out there. I obtained a quote from Big Brand Tires for $103 per sensor. I called Firestone back and explained that I had a printed invoice showing the lower price. They refused to acknowledge that they had made this guarantee and told me the price was not negotiable. Strike two. Yesterday, I called to get a quote for an engine tune up. They put me on hold for twenty minutes. I called back and was told they were very busy, but that if I left my number they would call me back within half an hour that afternoon. I left my number and never received a call. Today, I called again for a quote. The person who answered said he needed to get the service manager and then put me on hold for nearly thirty minutes. Since I was already in El Segundo, I decided to drive to the shop while still on hold because this had become ridiculous. Two minutes before I arrived, the call dropped after sitting on hold for so long. When I walked into the shop, there was a single employee sitting behind the desk with no customers around him. He was not helping anyone and did not appear busy. I told him that I had been left on hold for nearly thirty minutes. He offered no apology and barely acknowledged the issue. He then spent ten minutes putting together an incomplete engine tune up quote that did not include all of the services I would likely need, clearly setting things up to upsell me later. To make matters worse, there was a sign posted in front of the computers that read, "The best experience begins on the phone." Based on my experience over two consecutive days, that statement is laughably ironic. Strike three. They are out. I am no longer willing to give Firestone any more of my money, and I have been their customer for over a decade. The only reason I may return is because I prepaid years ago for a lifetime alignment when I bought my car. If they attempt to upsell me during that visit, I will tell them to stop and give me my keys. If any other shop offers a comparable alignment program, I will never return to Firestone again. For the sake of encouraging better customer service, I strongly recommend that potential customers avoid Firestone, especially the Manhattan Beach location. Getting a car repaired is already an unpleasant experience, and this location seems determined to make it worse rather than better. 2/26 UPDATE JUST FOR KICKS: I was reached out to by the store manager, who offered really nothing more than apologies. No incentives. No reason for me to trust them as a service provider for my car. Although it was a friendly gesture, it didn't really remedy anything. I was basically offered the same thing from the BS "socialcare@bfrc.com" e-mail response to my Yelp review: "we are sorry for the inconvenience." They are really doing a good job of cementing my stance that I will not be using them again.

Pittstop replaced the tire within 30 minutes of me dropping off my car but forgot that I had requested a tire rotation. Upon reminding them that I ordered a tire rotation, they completed that within an hour. As part of their tire rotation service, they filled the air of each tire. Within 30 minutes of driving away, my car detected that the psi (air pressure) for one of my tires was low and decreasing incrementally. I parked my car to attend an event for an hour and assumed that the psi reading was just a system error that would reset once I restarted my car. Upon restarting my car, the psi was lower and at a dangerous level (my car screen had a warning message advising me to park my car). I called Pittstop letting them know about this problem, that I could hear air leaking from one of the tires, and that I'm on my way back to the shop. In the 15-mile ride back to Pittstop, I had to stop at 2 gas stations to fill air in the tire for fear that it would fully deflate as I was driving the road. It was extremely dangerous and unnecessarily stressful. Upon arriving, they inspected the tire and realized that the pin for the tire was broken. I asked one of their mechanics how it was broken and they just said, "it just happens.... who knows?" They didn't accept any responsibility for failing to hear that air was leaking from that tire (which was obvious as soon as you removed the plastic cap) or checking whether the pin was broken or not. These are simple post-repair diagnostics a mechanic should do to protect the safety of their customers. I am extremely disappointed in my experience here -- particularly given how dangerous the situation could have been if I did not have a car that had technology to warn me when air pressure is dangerously low.

Nearly three years later, I received a letter from BMW extending the warranty for that exact issue. What followed was a long and pretty frustrating reimbursement process with BMW corporate. Even though I hadn't been back to Auto Werkstatt since the repair was done years ago, Kenny was kind enough to help me work through it. He pulled invoice copies, provided additional details, and sent information directly to BMW whenever they requested it. So while this review isn't specifically about the repair/work itself, I hope it says a lot about a shop that stands behind its work and its customers years later. Thanks again, Kenny and team.
