From my first phone…read morecall with Sally and Perry to the installation with Darren, John, and David, the experience could not have been more seamless. Initial Communication: Before settling on N & D for my home security system, I did tons of research, including research into all the big home security companies. Unlike other companies, N & D Security does not lock you into a long-term contract, nor did they try to upsell me on products and services that were beyond the scope of my needs. Rather, Perry readily identified what would likely make sense for my home, asked incisive and poignant questions about my home security needs, and carefully listened to and thoughtfully answered all my questions. He then diligently followed up with a recommended package for my home. Perry's attention to detail, follow-up communications, and responsiveness was impeccable. And I was all the more impressed given the fact that N & D is a small team that essentially operates as a family-owned business. Installation: The installation could not have been more seamless. John, Darren, and David arrived promptly. They installed the security system and had me up and running in little to no time. I was thoroughly impressed by the service--the N & D team went above and beyond anything I could have expected. For example, in addition to setting up my home security system, Darren helped set up our doorbell camera and even attempted to help install smart locks throughout my home. Upon the immediate completion of the installation, John carefully explained how the system operates, patiently answered all my questions, and even gave me his personal number in the event I had any additional questions. After Installation: After completing the installation, Perry checked in again to ensure that all our needs were handled and that our system was up and running. In addition, the N & D team was incredibly diligent in completing additional follow up work I had requested. In sum, if you are looking for a top-notch home security system, N & D is a no brainer. They are a pleasure to work with and I can genuinely say that choosing them for our home security needs was one of the easiest decisions I've made.

This has been one of the worst companies I've ever worked with. I am a first time home owner and…read moreonly signed with Vivint because they were the first ones to knock on my door... and I didn't do my homework. 3 days after the installation, I decided I didn't like it and wanted to cancel my service. My sales associate told me "you can cancel at anytime", so I took that at face value. When I called to cancel, however, I was told that I "missed the 3 day cutoff by 4 hours and was no longer able to cancel until your equipment is paid off". This month marks one year that I've been a Vivint customer. Within this year, the equipment has failed, had a short, quit working, etc, etc and a tech has been to my house 6 times. Take note that all 6 of these visits have been free of charge. I returned yesterday from a month long military class out of state and discovered that my front door sensor was broken. I called today to schedule a technician to come fix it, only to be told that I had 2 options- I could either troubleshoot it and fix it myself, or pay $99 for a technician to come to my home. I am not an electrical engineer-and if the equipment messes up after I have "fixed" it, it will be my responsibility not the company's- nor do I get a paycheck from Vivint. Therefore, I will not do the job of a Vivint employee. That knocks option 1 out. As I stated above, all of the other tech visits that I've requested within this past year have been at no charge. Now all of a sudden, it costs $99 for someone to fix a piece of equipment that is literally broken and causes my sensor to no longer work (yet I'm still paying for). I understand that companies change their policies, but MOST OF THE TIME companies will alert their customers when that happens. Also, when I kept questioning the customer service representative that I spoke to how long Vivint has had this policy, her answer was "This has been the company's policy since I've been with them." I also asked how long she had been with the company and never got an answer. So therefore, my home is unsecured, yet I'm paying $2,500+ for equipment that does not work and the company will not score fix it if I don't pay an extra $99. If Vivint can tell me how this practice is good customer service, I'll gladly listen. But they haven't been able to, nor are they willing to. I cannot wait to pay off the balance on the equipment that does not work so that I can supposedly cancel my contract with them! I am actively researching other security companies and will gladly change my service when I'm able to.

These door to door salesman are aggressive. I wanted to hear him out and what Vivant had to offer…read moreand well their system is garbage. Just stick with Ring, blink and literally any other security system. The best security is a good ol shotgun.

My experiences with security companies have been crap over the years. Trying to reach someone at Vector has been a pain in the ass. ADT bought out Vector and I spent 30 minutes bouncing from line to line trying to get information about my contract. Sure, these folks give you a free system but when the alarm system goes ape nuts and you need someone to come on site it's just a headache to deal with. So this time around I decided to go with a local company. You take away the idea of having a central call center system to assist you but when the day is done you just want the firefighter or cops at your door when you need them. I ended up having to pay for the alarm panel. Digital Security is based out of Hampton and while they lack all the glamour of a national company, I believe they are reliable in what I need of them... a system to work if there's a break-in and someone to dispatch the right people when needed. The other day I forgot to turn off my alarm before opening the back door to let the dogs outside. The alarm went off and within seconds I received a phone call making sure everything was okay. So in this particular instance if things weren't okay I knew that I would have the po po at my door right away. Bill, the owner, even advised me on getting motion lights as this often deters break-ins. I only opted for basic security but they do offer other services such as CCTC cameras, intercom systems, VOIP, and various music/speaker systems.
