On **July 1, 2025**, I went to Key Kopy in Mechanicsville to have a new car key and remote made. The key was cut that day, and I paid **$60** for that service. I was told the remote needed to be ordered and that I'd be contacted when it arrived. The plan was to pay for the remote once it was in. On **July 8th**, after not hearing anything, I called for an update. I spoke with David, who informed me that the remote had not been ordered yet, but that he would place the order that same day. Unfortunately, it's now **August 8th**, and I still haven't received any communication. It has been five weeks since my initial visit and a month since I was promised the order would be placed. I'm getting concerned because I have an out-of-state move coming up soon. The most frustrating part is that David is holding the key I already paid for. I am completely stuck waiting for the remote to arrive. The initial service was fine, but the lack of follow-up and communication has been incredibly disappointing. I knew if I called the fire department, they'd just break the door. I took a chance and called Country Safe and Locks and the owner (didn't catch the name) pulled over to the side of the road to trouble shoot with me. He didn't have to do that as he was on his way to an appointment and would gain nothing from helping me but he did. The only way to get the door unlocked without breaking it was to drill a hole where the lock would be on the back side and pop it open that way. No local "smith" could deal with it. The manufacturer of the locking system recommended Lock Safe & Security. I had to deal with them; i had no choice. What I discovered was that lock experts who are certified to work with sophisticated systems are just better than 99% of the locksmiths in the world. But don't hear that as "over-priced" or "too sophisticated." Bruce White is a consummate professional with a wicked sense of humor. From the get go, he worked as a consultant not as a huckster. He spent considerable time working to understand our needs and to figure out how to bridge to those from the fortress the previous owner had set up. At no point did i ever feel he was trying to manipulate or "up sell" me. I am a grizzled New Yorker and was looking for the worst. He asks great questions, provides a range of alternatives, and simply gives you confidence that this is a guy who plays in a league most lock experts do not. We were so impressed, that we asked him to spec and the install a fire and burglar rated safe in our house. He was enormously helpful in suggesting alternatives, and worked hard to make sure we were investing in what we needed, nothing more or less, and the safe is installed in our home. If you want real quality and value then this is your guy. I recommend him without hesitation. This is a "local guy" who brings cutting edge solutions.
