Initial review VS REVISED review: Mike is awesome and I can appreciate the fact that he has great pride in his business/reputation! My first initial contact was through my car dealer almost 6 months ago (which he came to me) I did purchase an additional device outside of what the dealer covered that day. That device did stop working for me this week which I called and left a message (outside of business hours) and Mike called me back that same day and we were able to set up a time the very next day to meet and he reprogrammed my key fob in no time!!! I am so grateful for his professionalism and willingness to help so urgently. I was a little skeptical to call only because great customer service just doesn't seem to exist anymore but I'm so glad that I did call and everything went so smoothly. Revised: Welp the excellent customer service I once experienced went out the window this go round. This business will take your money give you faulty parts and blame it on you when it no longer works. I only used this service bc Lexus of Richmond sent them out to replace my car key, sold me on a key fob which I spent nearly $200 for and within 3 months the remote no longer worked. Replaced batteries only to realize that the remote deprogrammed (I've purchased key fobs from other businesses and never had to get reprogrammed 3 times in one year) I had no problem going to them due to the malfunctioning remote (travelled 30 mins) everything worked fine, then a couple months later the fob doesn't work again. I called and was grateful I only had to go 6 mins away to get reprogrammed only for 5 days later I go to unlock/start my truck in 20 degree weather w 3 kids and the doors wouldn't unlock. Texted and called asked could I please come to them today due to being 9 months pregnant and delivering my baby in the morning to get reprogrammed and was ignored sent to voicemail and told to stop calling. So now I'm left to use a key to manually unlock the driver door rush to start otherwise the alarm will go off and then unlock the other doors to let my kids in the car (2 under 1 years old) in 20 degree weather. Mike was my initial contact the first 2 interactions. These last two time was 2 different guys Mike was no where in sight. Ran over my keys with my lawnmower, only me. Destroyed my wifes Honda key. Went by the dealer with an extra key to get one made and they said they would need the car all day in addition to the key and gave me a price. At the time I didnt have the car. BUYER BEWARE. I had the misfortune of losing my car key earlier this week and had to rush around to find a replacement. I called my mechanic, who recommended a few locksmiths, including Mike. I have a push to start car and I was told that he would be much cheaper than going to a dealer. I called him and told him the situation and what I would need and he said he could come fix it right then, which was convenient. However, it would cost me $285 for one key. At that point I should've just taken it to the dealer because at least then I know it would work properly; but I was in a bind and needed him to come to me. He got it working and I was on my way. The following day, I was able to lock my keys in the car, something that didn't happen the entire 5 years that I've owned this car. (You're not supposed to be able to lock your key in a push to start car). I had to call yet another locksmith, who came out and told me that the key was programmed incorrectly and that I should call and see if he could fix it for the amount I paid. They also told me that they could get me a brand new dealer key and program it for less than $100 in the future. That blew my mind since Mike had told me that I couldn't get a legit key for anything less than what he charged me.... Fast forward to today. I called Mike to let him know that I was having an issue with the key and would like him to come check it out. He proceeded to tell me that it was not his problem and that he could come look at it but he would charge me $65. I had just paid him $285 for a brand new key that he said would work "just like I had gotten it from the dealer." He placed the blame on me and my car saying that it was a coincidence that it stopped working and said my antenna was probably broken. I don't think so. My key worked perfectly for the 5 years I've had it, and if I supposedly paid for a brand new dealer key, I would assume it should work like I had gotten it from the dealer. Lesson learned. Next time if I am ever in need of a new key, I will definitely do my due diligence and go elsewhere. I wouldn't waste your time or money on this guy, because unfortunately for me, I got scammed. read more

The key guy answered my call immediately and was at my place an hour after the call. My key had broken off into my lock. I was charged $65 for the visit, and $45 for a new lock. Which I was happy to pay to quickly fix the lock and get into my house. The three stars are for the easy communication, and quick service. Unfortunately, the lock wasn't super smooth in working and completely stopped working after 5 days of having it. Luckily, my husband was home and able to remove the lock and replace it with a new one. The lock we purchased was much cheaper but higher quality. Last December '15, I lost my keys at a mall and I never recovered my keys. My car was stuck at there because I didn't have a spare key. I was able to find out about The Key Guy and he was able to unlock and make me a key with a transponder chip. During that time he wasn't able to make me a keyless entry, which was the only con. Last night (11.17.16), Mike came to the rescue again and made me 2 car keys with a transponder chip. He was fast and reliable. Mike is amazing. Was cool as a cat on the phone, came over as soon as he could and made me a key fob for my old car/minivan. The key made the alarm go off but after he made the key fob it works great now. It even opens the side doors to the van too. Highly recommended. Mike is a really nice guy. I needed him to make some keys for my car--lost them, no spares available, and they have a chip so they have to be cut AND programmed. I called him at 2:15 on Monday, we agreed to meet at 4 PM downtown. He was right on time. Bike race traffic reroutes made me about 15 minutes late, but he was cool about it.
