Dwight's crawfish etouffe is the bombdotcom. The best I've ever had by far! My friend ordered the steak and etouffe combo which I got a bite of and it was also so delicious!!! Will definitely be coming back for that. We also ordered boiled crawfish but it was slightly overdone. But still pretty good (not as good as Crawfish Time). My wife and I went out of town for a mini-vacation and decided to stop here since the reviews were pretty good. I'm always in the mood for seafood so Dwight's seemed like the choice for the night. The place was pretty slammed when we arrived but surprisingly enough, it only took ten minutes for us to be seated. Parties of 4 or more may have a bit of a longer wait. When our charbroiled oysters came out, we weren't given appetizer plates because the servers were told "not to give customers plates with charbroiled oysters because they come out really hot and we don't want you to burn yourself." Ooooook? So we had our oysters but no silverware, no Tabasco, no lemon, and no cocktail sauce. Come on, now! We live in Louisiana! After asking two other servers for these items, we started eating. The oysters had barely melted mozzarella cheese on them. Not Romano and Parmesan cheese like they're supposed to. No spices or flavor at all. Very disappointed. My wife ordered BBQ shrimp for her entree and I ordered their boiled crawfish which is what they're known for. The shrimp were pretty small for being gulf shrimp but the crawfish were really good. Spiced just right and just the right size crawfish. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience but it could have been a bit better. read more

While in Lafayette, we heard this was a local favorite, and judging by the cars overflowing the parking lot when we arrived, it definitely was! We walked in and were greeted by 2 hostesses and a line of people. We were told the wait time was 30 minutes and she handed us a pager that was in the shape of a crawfish. There was a seating area that had a couple bar stool tables and a couple benches for us to wait with the loads of other people there. We were seated within the time frame they gave us, and we sat down at our table next to a large group of kids, fresh with grass-stains from a baseball game. It was loud! We hoped it would be more quiet once they left, but it wasn't. The place just has bad acoustics. And then following the first baseball team, came another baseball team. In short, if you want a romantic outing with a quiet intimate atmosphere, this is not the place for you. But they do have good food. I had the boiled crawfish, as did another person at my table, and the last person had the crawfish etouffee po-boy. It was all delicious! The flavors were amazing and they have several different types of hot sauce on the table for you to amp it up, if that's your kind of thing. The favorite sauce at our table was the Garlic Sauce, which was made a short drive down the road in Abbeville, LA. Good food, good service, loud atmosphere. read more

5 stars for the BBQ! Walked in on a drizzling Sunday at 11:10am and the line was probably 30-40 people long. Fortunately, it moved quite swiftly and I was at the front in 15-20 mins. Ordered the rib plate with an extra pork steak because the lady in front of me said "it's da bomb." Oh boy, was she right! Both were delicious, moist, and tender. Didn't require the BBQ sauce that came with it but it was a nice touch. For sides, baked beans and vinegar coleslaw were scrumptious. Potato salad was good but nothing special. Rice dressing was a little bland. Picked up a bread pudding as well but now I'm too full to try it. I'll update later if it's something to write home about. 3-4 stars for the seafood dinner Came another night for dinner. Was interested in the boiled crawfish but did not order given that it was just the beginning of crawfish season and they were still quite small. Instead, had the shrimp and crab stuffed red fish. If I have a choice for boiled crawfish, my choice is DWIGHTS! Always clean, Always a good size, Always Spicy! Dwights ONLY offers crawfish when they are at a good point in the season. You will never have to worry about going for crawfish and ending up with a bunch of shrimps (no pun intended). BE ADVISED! Their extra spicy means that they cover the outsides of the crawfish in spice as well (which they do not normally do). Avoid this if you are prone to sweating/wiping sweat, etc. This is definitely the spot for boiled crawfish. Their shrimp is excellent to. Not a big boiled seafood fan? Their Crawfish Half and Half is worth the trip in and of itself. And their broiled oysters on the appetizer menu are a MUST if you are a fan. Pricing is a TOUCH higher than some places, but it is 100% worth the difference. read more

We ate boiled crawfish here last Friday. The doors open at 5PM and there was a substantial line forming along the front of the building when we drove up. We were seated right away, but there was a wait shortly after we snagged our table. Get there early! I ordered my crawfish spiced medium/normal and they were PERFECT! Boiled to perfection and easy to peel. The tails popped right out - they weren't mushy (a sign of overcooked/boiled crawfish). The server was attentive, but not pushy. There was a sink in between the bathrooms for you to wash your hands. The holes in the tables make disposing of the crawfish carcasses so simple. We gave Dwight's a go - even though my boyfriend got it confused with another place. We were seated and greeted immediately by our server - a super cute and super friendly person. She made some great recommendations, especially since I'm not a huge seafood fan. We got some fried oysters and onion rings to start. The oysters are pretty tasty and the order of onion rings was RIDICULOUSLY huge, and messy-battered, just like I like it. The onion rings were good, but they could have used just a touch more seasoning. For the entree, I followed our server's recommendation and went with the hamburger steak- gravy on the side. It didn't sound altogether awesome, but I've got to say it was mighty tasty! It's kind of like a salisbury steak with cheese and grilled onions on top. It was served with a stuffed potato, but the potato was the least awesome part of my dinner. And can I just say.... having a hole in the middle of your table with a trash can underneath is friggin' genius. We ain't got those in Texas! Our server kept our drinks full, was attentive and did a great job. I really liked this place, and will have to add it to the agenda for our next trip to Lafayette. read more

Came by about an hour before closing on a week night and we were seated immediately. I had been told that this was the spot for crawfish & was super excited to try it. I'll be honest and say that I had no idea how to open/crack/take the meat out of a crawfish and sat at the table a little daunted by the 5 lbs we had ordered. However, when I got the rhythm down, I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful and yummy the crawfish was. After a couple pounds, it just got way too salty and l ended up ordering another corn (an extra $1) to cleanse my palette when I stopped eating. Definitely worth trying, but be warned that the bottom of the bowl does get pretty salty. We almost didn't go, and I'm glad we did. I really like that you can call your own spice level for take out orders. A lot of crawfish places only have one level of spice, and we like it super spicy. We got 3 pounds of the XXX, and my hands are still burning hours later after repeated washes. This is a good thing, BTW. Crawfish were large and succulent, like baby lobsters. It's my second time to Dwight's, albeit spread over 4-5 years. I now wish I had gone more frequently! Save money by eating out, if for no other reason than not having to tip 15-20%. Dwight's is the place to enjoy crawfish in season! The tables are designed with a hole in the middle with a wastebasket underneath so no muss, no fuss! The crawfish were huge and and accompanied with red boiled potatoes, corn on the cob and a tasty dipping sauce. Delicious! Hands down this is the BEST FOOD in Lafayette. My family has eaten here for years and we will always be loyal customers. This is true to goodness Cajun food. The hours can throw you off a little but the food is worth going out of your way for. If I could recommend one meal, I would say go for the crawfish eettoofee. Dwight's is a great spot for seafood in Lafayette. The delicious - and piping hot - trays of boiled crawfish are enhanced by the tables with the holes cut in them for discarding your trash, the endless paper towels, and the sinks outside of the bathrooms for the huge mess that you'll make. The divided dining room makes it great for groups, but it can get a little noisy when it's busy. Also, it's good to call ahead to make sure they're open - their hours can be a little spotty. read more

The medium to medium large crawfish tonight were juicy, tender, tastey and easy to peel. The smalls were dry and tough..maybe accounting for 1 out of 10 or so. There were a number of straight tailed crawfish indicating they were not alive when boiled.I often eat these and they are not questionable in taste or flavor. tonight at dinner i was forced to spit out the straight tailed meat every time due to the old fishy taste and texture. i would appreciate better quality control here. I'm going to give this place 4 stars not because the food was gross, but the service. I had the dwights special which was a fried crawfish and crawfish etoufee on top poboy which was amazing!!!!! The problem was when we went to the back to order crawfish. Our waitress seemed to be unbothered with us until she came around and brought us the check. Everyone else had a bucket under their table and we had to use our old food baskets just to put our eaten crawfish shells in. Often we had to flag her down for service while she would run around and ask everyone else if they were ok. Dwight's if I can give you any advice, please work on customer service with you waitresses or give the less tables to worry about. read more
