Dear management, it would probably be a good idea to update your Yelp business info to clearly state "NO LAPTOPS / NOT GOOD FOR WORKING." I chose this coffee shop because of the excellent reviews great location and overall atmosphere... I ordered food/coffee, sat in the back corner, broke out my small computer to get caught up on digital artwork that I had fallen behind on... Nearly thirty minutes later I was notified that laptops were not allowed. I hadn't even finished my coffee yet. Dumbfounded... I looked around and noticed a man sitting directly behind me with a giant Ipad with a keyboard attached but no one said anything to him? I am not sure how this makes any sense. Also from my observation, every single person in the shop was staring at their electronic device, so the "no screens rule" doesn't apply here. I wasn't using WiFi on my laptop. But really, cafés have been places for conducting business for centuries and essential for most people while traveling and working remotely. Other than that... this is a cute little place offers a wide range of menu items... maybe only a good place to eat, drink your tea or coffee, read a book or endlessly scroll on your phone? I missed my bus and needed something hot, with chocolate -for example let's say a hot chocolate!- to cheer me up.... This is how I spotted that place first. That day I finally ended with a milkshake, because it sounded suddenly really appealing (and also because, well, it was finally warm enough outside). And it was greatly made, bigger than I thought it would be, and the service was deliciously chatty. That milkshake finaly did the same role as a hot chocolate usually does with me. Since that day, I always end there when I need to wait a little for my bus. Milkshake, hot chocolate, iced tea, this is always a good moment, with a good view on the quay. And, I have to say this: Their "pain au chocolat" are wonderful! They are perfectly measured between smelting and crispy. And as a French, this is a real pleasure. read more

I was quite pleased to see that nice corner on the quays finally occupied by something worthwhile. It's small, but very cosy. Coffee is the main reason I frequent cafés and this one delivers, adding another very good coffee spot to a city where it was once sorely missed. I've always wanted to come here just out of admiration for the name (it's so cute!) so I was glad to stop in one rainy afternoon. There weren't many seats, but we managed to snag a table by the window, facing the river. We ordered a tea, a hot chocolate, and a scone with jam and butter. Our order arrived quickly and without a hitch. Not much to report about the beverages and scone, but the decor was adorable! The ordering booth was decorated with the timeline of the life of a cup of coffee (i.e. from being planted to being served in DwarfJar). The lofty ceilings felt nice and elegant. DwarfJar was the go-to spot for coffee, meeting point and quick bite in the morning of St. Patrick's day. In the heart of Temple Bar district in Dublin (across the street from the canal) it's an ideal location for tourists and locals alike. One of the aspects I liked the most about DwarfJar was the atmosphere and variety of food/drink options. It definitely mirrors some of our hipster-trendy cafes in places like New York City with coffee bean bags used as seat cushions, sandwiches, tapas, and desserts available and an assortment of hot/cold coffee or tea drinks and of course the clientele consisting of both tourists/out-of-towners and entrepreneurs/students/professionals using the wi-fi for working purposes. The barista we had the handful of times we came here was very helpful answering questions about edibles/drinks available and friendly. We always could get a seat no matter the time of day/night and I appreciated it was open late compared to other cafes or coffee shops in Dublin or in proximity. I tried the Vietnamese coffee which was more sweet than bold which I enjoyed and also tried some of there sandwiches which were equally delicious and fresh. I also liked that they used real dishware/glassware and utensils instead of cups and such that you'd throw out in the trash. To the nerds out there, take a look around and you'll find some funny artifacts from your favorite sci-fi tv shows. Overall, a great vibe and definitely worth a visit. read more

One day walking at quays after work I passed it from of it and I saw free wifi and great coffee in a sign outside. Why not? I thought. It is a very nice coffee place. And small too. The big deal here is order a coffee and sit by the window to watch the peasants. The coffee is good indeed, latte is 2.80 (small). Carrot cake 3.95. If I lived in Dublin I'd hang out here! What a parade of people in and out of this place, tourists, locals, the lot. What you also get is the best coffee I had in the whole of Ireland. As we were walking by I glanced in and saw smiles, and poking my nose in gave me the most delicious fragrance of the bean. I always pass nearby this cafe and never tried until yesterday. It has a great location and it stands out in street. So i walked in and the most thing that i found amazing is their blackboard, it has everything you wanna try starting from coffee/ tea, milkshakes, smoothies, breakfast, icecream, soft drinks..et. I ended up in Dwarf Jar by accident (after missing my stop on the bus...)...it was a happy accident! The place is small and functional - the coffee is the star here. I had a creamy cappuccino that had a proper kick (their coffee is hand-roasted by McCabe's in Wicklow). I didn't have enough change to get a sweet treat (and their laser machine was out of action), so I had a nibble of one of the brownies they had cut up for customers to taste...instant chocolate hit! Apart from the coffee, my favourite thing about this place was the small selection of books on offer (an eclectic mix from a Jane Austen classic to a book about Mindfulness to another tome about Victorian buildings in Dublin). I would have liked to have had a proper nose through each book, while looking up every now and then from my window seat, at the people passing by on the Quays on that rainy day...but alas, I'll have to save that for my next visit when I'll make more time. read more

This little coffee shop is a breath of fresh air. The coffee and tea is brewed to perfection. All the flavors are robust and natural...unpleasant aftertaste not included. Baristas were also so friendly, we had a pleasant experience with service. I mostly appreciate their tea which is brewed fresh using loose leaf tea in your own personal mini teapot. If you like fruity tea, I really recommend the red berry tea, its truly amazing! :) Oh, and if you are craving sweet, their pastries also hit the spot with quality flavor. read more

Nice coffee - but service is haphazard at best. They don't fill the cup all the way unless you ask them to - I've more than once had to leave with a half cup of coffee (and they're not super cheap for that kind of carry on). They forget to make your coffee and you're left standing there like a fool while they laugh and joke around - no good if you're trying to get to work! Plus, I've had stale croissants out of there, and in one particularly memorable occasion, my colleague asked for butter and jam for her scone, and the weirdo behind the counter actually pretended to put butter and jam into the bag. We were embarrassed for him to be honest. In this era of a coffee shop in Dublin every 100 yards, there are much better places to go than this. I've finally just stopped going and picked another one. Don't bother unless you have plenty of time, and you're prepared to check that they're doing their job!!! read more
