Unfortunately due to water and environmental conditions the bottom rusted and leaked, necessitating replacement. Abt could not have been more helpful, in this time of need. The Abt office (Nathan) immediately and fully addressed the situation. The Abt plumbers delivered fast and truly excellent replacement with a new Reliance 50 gallon hot water heater and installed all the necessary copper pipe, valves and fittings---including full labor at no charge. The plumbers (Russell Cartwright and Tyler Fite) installing the unit were very meticulous and highly competent in every detail. They also were extremely helpful and courteous. I have used Abt exclusively for over forty years and recommended their products and service to numerous other home owners--no one has been disappointed. I think communication is this company's biggest issue. I told them in writing and over the phone…read morethat have a leak in my fridge and need freon. He came to add freon without addressing the leak at all, just wanted to charge me for wasted materials. The person on the phone told me there would be no service charge, the leak would be $85 and he would add the freon "by giving me a good price". Then he told me $180 for the freon and he couldn't fix the leak when he got there and still tried to charge the $85 after I told him to leave. I hate to say that I think the language barrier caused this issue, but he didn't read my texts either when I said there was a leak.
