Once we found this place we have never stayed anywhere else. Leaving today after a 3 night stay. Some of the rooms used to share a bath, now each room has it's own beautiful European looking (very modern ) bathroom complete with shampoo, conditioner and body wash in dispensers. We booked this hotel at the last minute and was pleasantly surprised. From the check in to leaving was flawless. The room was super clean and the common area is well taken care off. It is relatively close to everything and parking was included in our rate which is not typical of a lot of hotels in KW. Breakfast was also included which was just enough. We stayed in the Marlin room and upon departure we were greeted by vomit in the ice bucket . I guess someone across the hall had too much to drink. I was surprised to find it cause there are cameras in the hallway. Needless to say as disgusting as it was I wouldn't hold it against them. Just Don't use the ice buckets!!! read more

Duvall inn is always where I stay when in Key West. Seaside is my favorite room. It's not in the main house and makes me feel like I'm in my own little cottage. It's steps away from duval and is a great location to just about everything. They also have complimentary breakfast and a free happy hour by the pool from 5-6. Staff is always friendly and the bed and breakfast is always clean! Parking is now offsite and it does cost 20 dollars a day. read more

It was just alright. Location was its best attribute, just a few steps off Duval Street, halfway up, so everything was within convenient walking distance. Our "luxury queen" was probably the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Roughly the size of a large walk-in closet. It made cruise ship cabins seem vast; the only furniture in the room was one small night stand and the bed, along with a fridge and folding luggage rack. The door to the room wouldn't open completely because it hit the bed, and that was on the larger side with the nightstand. There was one small window that overlooked the dish sink for the pool bar, but the bar was never open, despite advertisements for happy hour. It had a window a/c unit which made for excellent white noise to drown out the noise from nearby nightlife. The pool was clean but small and mostly shaded, whether that's a positive or a negative, I'll leave to you. Overall, the rooms were clean and the staff was friendly, I'd stay again in a pinch but it definitely wouldn't be my first choice. read more

Great accommodations and location a few steps off the epicenter of Duval Street. This was my second visit to KEYW in as many years; initially I was disappointed I was unable to secure lodging at another inn I stayed with the previous year, but sometime things happen for a [good] reason; this was to my advantage. After looking at their website, I called Duval Inn and spoke with owner Corey and booked for 5-nights. I was on a budget and booked the least expensive room. I arrived and met Corey who immediately upgraded to a more expensive and deluxe room for the same price. I enjoyed the continental breakfasts; and the complementary happy hour provide the opportunity to meet the other guests and share information and experiences. The entire staff -- especially bartenders Roy and Fritz -- are very personable and make sure you have a good time. I will look forward to staying at the Duval Inn my next visit to KEYW. read more

Park here at your own risk.... My car was hit and keyed overnight at the hotel's parking lot. There is no dedicated parking lot for this hotel. The adjacent lot is public parking which I am assuming used to be owned by the hotel but was sold to the city for public use. The hotel's parking lot is two blocks north and shared with a 2-3 other hotel properties plus a restaurant. They basically cram as many cars into this small lot to support 3+ hotels and the next door restaurant. I filed a police report that morning and requested the property owner to provide the surveillance to find out who keyed my car. The property owner's response was that the cameras' were not working even though there were signs clearly stating that the parking lot was camera monitored - plus the maintenance guy said that they do work. The owner would not talk to me directly to help me file my police report and instead made his front desk staff deal with it, which their response was "sorry, nothing we can do." We were originally going to stay an extra night here but decided to book at La Concha - they have their own dedicated adjacent parking lot with valet service. Long story short, if your car gets hit or vandalized on their premises, you are SOL as far as getting any assistance from management. As a Key West newbie, lesson learned. Avoid this hotel and its sister property Pegasus International. Look for other hotels that do not cheap out on parking and end you up with a damaged car. read more

This hotel was very nice and midway from everything. Literally everything we did was an 8 to 15 minute walk away. We enjoy to walk while on vacation and loved it. The pool was really nice and did not feel like a hot bath as it is well shaded.The place is well kept with comfortable beds. read more

Well I'd like to say something nice about this place but! When we got there they have a sign outside that says no dogs allowed except for well trained service dogs. Well for those who know me and my Service dog atlas a 4 pound red miniature pincher Will testify that he is a well trained service dog. The owner refused entry even though on the outside by the door is was posted no dogs allowed except for fully trained service dogs. After his attitude and rudeness I would've not stayed there anyways but I chose to have the police come to witness the reading the ADA laws to the gentleman. It's sad it's a soul suit so there's nothing the police can do. I found another place and I will live happily ever after and I hope the individual maybe a very nice guy buy does not live happily ever after. Those individuals who are handicapped like me because I am going deaf others need to understand the others who try to pass the dogs off ruining it for those in need they need to be compassionate. I stayed at the Duval Inn in early October. We drove down from Miami a day earlier than planned, called around and we're really happy to get a room. We stayed in the Seaside room, which is a quaint little cottage with a private bathroom and goes for $199/night. A recap of the Pros and Cons Pro - Seaside room. Beautiful cottage w/ hardwood floors, nice cold AC, comfortable queen sized bed. Was well maintained, clean and nicely decorated. - well located, just a block away from Duval street on Angelina street - free Happy hour from 5pm to 6pm. The bartender and handyman, Rodger???, was friendly and poured us a couple of drinks even though we arrived after happy hour ended. Happy hour is a great time to meet and share tips w/ others - parking lot right on premises Cons: - Roosters that start crowing at 3am! I didn't get much sleep even though I was exhausted - $10 extra charge for parking - average breakfast. No home baked goods, but had bagels, bread, cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, juices and processed "fresh" fruit - Vibe more like a hotel than a bed & breakfast. The staff was helpful, but didn't go out of way to make you feel welcome, compared to the Key West Bed & Breakfast (the KWBB), which we also stayed at. As a comparison when we first arrived the KWBB, we received a tour of the property & Trish who was working there spent almost 45 minutes finding out our interest and making suggestions. - charged the higher peak season rates about a month earlier than most places We enjoyed our stay, but really liked the Key West Bed & Breakfast much better. read more

Just back from our 2nd stay at the Duval Inn. We were a group of 5 couples. My husband and I had the Seaside room in the cottage. This is the only room we've ever stayed in - we just love it! The rooms have been updated since our visit. The courtyard/pool/bar area has been opened up and looks beautiful. The location is quiet for being just steps off Duval Street (except for the roosters, but hey, it's Key West!). The rates are reasonable. Breakfast is fine - I'm not a big breakfast person anyway, so it works for me. Toast, bagels with 3 choices of cream cheese, yogurt, fruit, hard boiled eggs, cereal, juices, pastries, mini quiche, coffee and tea. Happy hour is a great way to meet new people! Although the staff has changed since our last visit 2 years ago, the new staff is just as friendly! Kat is wonderful at the front desk. Roy was our great Happy Hour bartender. Housekeeping does a wonderful job as well. Everyone is constantly busy doing something. There are no lazy people working here!! We stayed here from 7/24 through 8/1. We made an error and thought we had booked an extra day. The room we were in was booked, so she moved us to a room next door which was a little bigger, we ended up staying 2 extra nights. The front office lady was so awesome! She gave us an extra parking pass for our golf cart and laughed and joked with us every time we came in and out. We LOVED this place. The staff was so friendly and fun to be around, it was located right in the heart of everything and we loved that, but when we were there, it felt like we were a million miles away. It was quiet and secluded and so serene. We were in the Marlin first, and while it was small, all we did was shower and sleep there, so it was perfect. It was cute and clean. We moved to the Ocean for the last 2 nights and it was slightly bigger. We were able to pop in and out of the room all day to cool off or grab a drink from our ice chest and roll back out again. The pool was nice and never crowded. The few times we wanted to use it, we were the only ones. I simply cannot say enough about this place. It has earned a special place in my heart, we will definitely stay here next year and will absolutely book the same rooms. read more

What an amazing stay in Key West @ the Duval Inn! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! They have varying room sizes and the price depends on what room you stay in. We blocked about 8 rooms for a wedding, and I stayed in the Shell Room, a very small but perfect room with a great GREAT great comfy bed and a very cold AC unit (shared bathroom with 3 other rooms, but WHAT A BATHROOM)! That's really all you need if you're going down to the Keys, a place to lay your head, recharge and keep cool. But wait, there's MORE! The manager would come out and give us a happy hour every afternoon, it was AWESOME! The pool and courtyard area is a great shady place to hang out between trips to the beach, Duval Street or elsewhere in KW. What an awesome location, centrally located on Key West, minutes by foot from EVERYTHING! I really cant say enough about this place. Wish parking was free, but its $10 per day. First I would like to say the room was very clean that's where it ends free parking is not free it was $15 a day the breakfast Continental Buffet consisted of stale muffins and bagels no cream for the coffee watered down orange juice.... Our shower had a drainage issue so every time you took a shower you were ankle-deep in water... the mattress had a plastic covering leaving you feeling clammy and damp feeling.. And apparently the day we arrived the city had ordered the pool to be shut down due to safety concerns and we weren't informed and it took them 24 hours to close it down... And the lounge chairs by the pool had no cushions anywhere to be found and there was plenty of Staff always walking around and the day we left we saw all the cushions stacked up in the lobby no one ever offered them... read more

I've been staying here for years and unfortunately this trip will be the last. Prices have more than tripled (even for the smaller rooms) and quality, service, KW charm has vanished! No longer local owned... bought by small chain hotel down here. Just to be brief: sheets are so cheap they are scratchy. I actually had to get up to see if there was sand or dirt in the bed. And don't get me started on the horrible mattress! Happy hour is 6:30 to 7:30?? And selection is of the cheapest of cheap liquor and wine to be found. But worst of all... the towel covers on the pool chairs were never changed in the 3 days that we were there! Disgusting! We cancelled a few hours after booking a stay which was scheduled for a few months from now. They charged a $50 cancellation fee! We booked over the phone and were not informed of the cancellation fee. When we asked to speak to the manager, they refused to give the name of the manager, so we could discuss with him or her that fact that we weren't informed of the cancellation fee. They insist they can charge the fee because it is explained in the confirmation letter, but the confirmation letter comes via email after you've booked it!!!!!!!!!! REALLY?!!?!?! Avoid this place. Such a fun tiki bar! Roy the bartender is such a sweet guy. We walked in here off of Angela near Duval. Just came in here before Christmas time to have a few drinks before hitting up Duval. They allow dogs and shut the gate so our 4-legged girl could roam free in the courtyard by the pool and the tiki bar with us. It was really sweet for them to accommodate us. We only stopped here for a drink but ended up staying for about 5+ and met some really cool people visiting Key West! Roy recommended some cigars and it was honestly the BEST cigar I have ever had. It was a "Churchill Cohiba" and it was perfect. I couldn't believe we found such a good Cuban cigar and a perfect little tiki bar tucked off Duval St. We will definitely come here again because the view and the atmosphere is just great! read more

Stayed at the Inn between Christmas and New Years. Can't speak for all the rooms, but ours was on the small side. For just the two of us, it worked out ok. Room was clean and neat. Breakfast consisted of pretty average faire....bagels, toast, muffins, toaster French toast, orange juice yogurt and coffee. Enough to get you going, but nothing really special. Also, breakfast starts at 8:30, which is a little on the late side, although lasts till 11, which is forgiving. The website and the little notes in the room indicated happy hour from 6pm to 7pm. This was non-existent. There is no happy hour. The office closes at 6 pm, then nothing happens. There is a bar and seemingly the set up for a happy hour....but nothing. This was disappointing and a bit annoying. We were looking forward to a little get together with other guests before going out on the town. If they have suspended this due to covid ( understandable). they needed to state that on the website, or at the time of check in or in the room or a note on the bar. The inn has a pool, which is daily maintained, so the grounds look very good for a tropical locale. The Inn is ideally located within Old Town, with easy walking access to most things. read more

Just got off the phone with the owner Corey to discuss the cancellation fee of $35 I was charged. I was requesting it to be reimbursed because I canceled 22 days before my scheduled visit. He refused to refund it even though after checking he has already resold the room. I visit Key West monthly and have never encountered such a ridiculous policy and an owner that isn't willing to accommodate a future guest. It was very dark not decorated like you would think a key west room would be. It you like something light and bright this wouldn't be the room for you. Had a rough experience at The Duval. Staff are kind but I feel sorry for them as they are trying their best to staff with friendliness. We stayed at The seahorse room and there was a strong smell of mold. The mattress is worn out and the old spring coils are done. Wonder how old that mattress was.. The mold was the main reason we complained and we got moved to The Dolphin room next door. The smell of mold was not as strong but still present. I have stayed at the Duval Inn twice on vacations to Key West and both times I was thrilled with the cleanliness of the rooms, the amazing customer service, and the outstanding amenities. First off the rooms are kept in spectacular condition and if you need anything don't hesitate to ask the wonderful housekeeping staff. All the photos of the rooms on their web site are up to date and accurate. No worries that those photos were taken right after renovations 15 years ago! Brian was working the front desk most often on my visit so I have lots of good things to say about him. If you need any help planning activities, dinner reservations, or a local's insider take on anything he is the person to go to. He recommended some of my now favorite restaurants in Key West! Now lets get to the amenities. Completmentary continental breakfast in the morning is pretty standard in comparison to other B&B's in KW. Muffins, danish, coffee cake, yogurt cups, fresh fruit, whole fruit, cereal, milk, juice, and coffee are just some of the items you might see on the buffet. Gone are the days of an actual home cooked breakfast of eggs bacon and pancakes in this touristy town so try not to be too disappointed. The Duval Inn also has a nice lounging pool, not good for swimming laps but definitely nice for cooling off from the heat and sipping a margarita. Speaking of margaritas, free Happy Hour is at 5 o'clock (times may change) and yes I said Happy Hour at the Duval Inn for free! Its a great time to meet the other visitors that you may have heard in the room next to yours. Rosie is the bartender and she makes a mean drink and has some crazy stories about the island since she is a native conch. Some insider tips: When room rates are low, the heat is high. Be prepared to get a sunburn if you're not constantly bathing in sunscreen. Also try to stay indoors from about 12-3pm when the sun is the worst. All B&B's on the island are small, if you want a big spacious room go to the impersonal overpriced chain hotels. Also, if its spring break, fantasy fest, or any other crazy college break be prepared to hear about it from your room. Hardly any B&B's have sound proof rooms (if you find one let me know) so you will hear your neighbors opening doors, running water, watching tv, and yes sometimes you'll hear them having sex. Either make the same loud noises back and have a laugh about it at Happy Hour the next day or bring some ear plugs. Bring cash for the pedi cab drivers to take your sore feet back to the room after walking down duval street. Its not a far walk from one end of duval street to the other but if you've been walking, swimming, and drinking all day, a ride back might just save your feet for the next day. read more

This place is soooo cute! I would definitely stay here again. The staff accommodated us with our late check in. I think it said check ins were before 6 which is kind of early, otherwise you have to call when you get there as there is no overnight staff. There is also a cute kitty who roams the property with an accompanying "vicious kitty" sign. He was a very sweet cat, not mean at all. He greeted us when we came in the gate. Our room had a joint bathroom which worried us a little. However, it worked out great. They had shampoo, make up wipes, and tons of fresh towels. Very clean. Don't let that scare you off. Our room had a mini fridge, two Hershey kisses on the night stand and was quaint. It had a pool and a great happy hour. That bartender is hilarious! I honestly can't wait to come back. Paying for parking that is about two blocks away is annoying (and its 15 bucks a night, on top of what you pay). There is literally a parking lot right next to the hotel, why couldn't we park there? And as others have mentioned, there is a FREE HAPPY HOUR every day between 5-6pm!!! I've never heard of this before, but think it's a fabulous idea. The location is perfect, not even a block from Duvall Street but not right in the middle of the chaos. They have a super cute courtyard (where the small pool and tiki bar is) that is great to sit out on during happy hour or breakfast (which is also free). The room was small but suited our needs, and everything was clean. It was also nice that they had parking right next door (I believe it was included in the cost too, but not positive). I live in Miami and I drive to key west at least once a month for some R&R. A couple months ago I booked a one night stay at The Duval Inn (it was a recommendation from a friend). The day before my trip I had an emergency and had to cancel within the 24 hour period. I was expecting not to be reimbursed because that's what any other [place would do on such short notice. The girl that answered the call (Alina) was extremely polite and helpful. After listening to me she said let me call the owners and call you back. She did and I got the full credit to use another day. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago: I call on a Friday afternoon for a Next day stay and again Alina was able to find me a room at a decent price and I was able to use my credit. Since its a bed & breakfast type place I was expecting a bit older rooms. Much to my surprise the rooms and bathrooms are updated to modern hotel rooms. I was happy about everything so far. When We got there we were greeted with a big smile and a very positive vibe and it turns out that the girl Alina was the voice on the phone (what a great person and kudos to the owners for hiring someone so perfect). They have happy hour next to the pool every day, Clean and very nice vibe. Parking is two short blocks away (parking in Key West is horrible). The stay was awesome and the staff attentive and polite always. Breakfast was included and they had a little of everything and again THAT GIRL (Alina) had everything ready for breakfast and an amazing smile and attitude was perfect. She conversed with my daughters and gave recommendations for things to do and we did. I know where my new spot will be from now on. Don't reserve! I did on travelocity I had to cancel my reservation due to family emergency. They charged me for 1 night! Not nice

I stayed at Duvall Inn over the weekend from 4/8/16 to 4/9/16 even though I originally paid for 3 nights. I had a family emergency and had to check out early. I was part of a wedding party that booked most of the Inn. When I handed in my keys to the gentleman at the front desk, along with another couple who was checking out at the same time, he did not say anything. So we asked him if that was it. He said, "Yes, that is it." He never gave us any paperwork. Since I was in a rush, I didn't stop to question it. After I arrived home and handled said emergency, I called the same day to speak to the manager to see if I could get a refund. The receptionist told me to call back the next day when the manager was there. I called the next day and the manager said no i could not get a refund. Although I wasn't happy, I respected that. I called back the next day after further thought to ask if I could check in another night to make up for the day that I did not stay at hotel. The manager never returned my call. Now I am seeing that there is an additional charge of $48.38 on my bank statement and I have no idea what it is for. I'm really disappointed at this experience. I am a laid back person who rarely complains. As a former travel nurse, I have stayed in different hotels/Inn/suites all over the US. Also, I have traveled internationally and stayed in both hostels and hotels. I have never had such a disappointing and unprofessional experience. FYI You can try to park for free on the street ,which is near impossible, or you can pay for $15 a night for Duval Inn parking which is off site. Breakfast is bagels, fruit cups, cereal. So far, bad! Yesterday, on January 20, I booked a room for March, just to hold it until I talked with my husband about our plans. The person who booked the room did NOT tell me there was a $50 cancellation fee. Then, only a few hours later we decided against the room, and I wrote immediately to tell them to please cancel. The next day the "front desk" wrote back--there was never a signature--telling me about $50 fee, which she wrote was posted in the confirmation letter. I wrote back explaining that this was not told to me. If I don't know this ahead of time, what good is it in the confirmation letter?! The front desk said it was terribly sorry but that was their policy. In the back and forth of the emails, three times I asked for the name of the receptionist who processed my order, as well as the name of the manager and the owner. My requests have been ignored. On top of that, I cannot get through on either phone number on the internet because the mailboxes are full. I informed the front desk of that this morning, and just checked now this evening, but there is no change in the status of their mailboxes. Generally, the only response I get via email--it is like getting an answer from a robot--is "do you want us to cancel." They show no respect for the consumer--they have two months yet to book this room, which I am sure they will in Key West, yet they insist on gouging me of my $50, despite it being incredibly unfair. BEWARE!!! I go to Key West frequently, as our visitors to south Florida always want to go there, and we have a nice boat ride available, but I will NEVER EVER consider The Duvall Inn again. It appears they care very little about common sense, consideration, and courtesy! Who knows if they will ever answer me, or if I will ever get my $50 back. read more
