Tried this place for the first time after living here for 6 years now. The location of this place is right next to the Dutchmaid Motel. There is a solid amount of parking around the building. Make sure you don't miss the entrance! Atmosphere: very chill, love the vibe with the lights and being on a deck. It gives a beachy vibe in some way but just very open air and relaxing. I saw they have a huge heater above the one part of the deck so I'm assuming that's for when it gets colder out since it's all open air. Not too loud and family friendly. There is a bar in the middle you can sit at and a mix of high tops and regular tables. Pretty clean too when we came. Service: our waitress was very nice, I forget her name but she was very attentive to us and the surrounding tables from what we saw. Very knowledgeable about the menu too. Food: wow those nachos we ordered from the appetizer menu was huge! Definitely recommend coming and just dining on the different appetizers especially the French fries....we brought them home as leftovers and they were just as great reheated in the oven!! They say they are "the best fries in town" I have to agree. Shoestring and crispy! The bangin shrimp was spicy (as it says) and delicious. Overall we will return and we are glad we tried this place out finally. If you're in the Ephrata area, I do recommend stopping by here for lunch or dinner. read more

The Deck is my wife and my go to lunch place. We love the atmosphere, and the Toasted Rachel is unbelievable. Everything else we ever tried was delicious as well. Ugh. Haven't been here in 2 years - and now I know why....waited 12 minutes for a server to even come to the table. Ordered apps. Jalapeño poppers were stone cold in the middle. Literally not even cooked. My BLT was missing the "T" and the fries were rubbery and gross . The prices are ridiculous for the amount and quality of food you get. Only 2 servers to serve the entire place - it was packed. Won't be going back. Don't waste your time!! read more

The atmosphere is noisy next to a major busy road. I did not like my food it was a taco salad the ground beef was ice cold and it was basically a bunch of cheese and beef hardly any lettuce in a taco shell bowl served in a tin to go pan. They have plastic forks wrapped in plastic in a bucket on the table with a roll of paper towels for napkins. You either get your food in aluminum tin to go pans or paper plates. Just not a lot of effort here to make it nice. Not a big menu just burgers or toast sandwiches, wraps and a few salad options. The deck has a great ambiance to it. Love all the plants & lights! Really lights up the place. I got the cheese steak. I would give it a 6.5/10.I should've got the chicken lol. It didn't knock my socks off but wasn't shabby! I really liked their fries they're tiny but big at the same time! The lovely lady got a chicken caesar wrap which was very exceptional! I've always been a fan of The Deck! Been coming here for years. Yes, the food isn't always consistent or the best. Sure, some of the food is overpriced for what it is. But it's nostalgia that brings me back and rates it so high. I will say, the taco salad I had was very good. Crisp shell, not oily and greasy, generous toppings and healthy side of guacamole. I enjoy the outside seating, I've always had pleasant servers, the crowd is diverse, and it's a great place to day drink! What more could you ask for. read more

DO NOT GO IF YOU ARE MEXICAN... I was over looked numerous amounts of times by the hostess, servers, and bartenders. The hostess looked straight at me and looked the other way as if I was invisible. I was told by another hostess or server who knows...to order at the big bar and go sit at another bar. So, I wait at the big bar for about a good 5-10 minutes while people before me and around me were all were helped within seconds, again I was over looked. Finally got help but my id went through a full inspection (no one else was asked for an ID around me) before I was served a drink (the wrong drink... the bartender needs to be educated on the different types of tequila you all serve) I was then told I needed to open a tab while people before me and after me were not asked to open a tab (profiling was done 100% here) finally I get to the bar and I was passed up about a good 5 times while others around me were asked if they wanted a menu for food. They were helped right away with both food and drinks after I was told the "small bar" was closed. I had to ask for a menu and it seemed like I was bothering the bartender. Again people around me were not being asked to open a tab nor asked for their ID (again making me feel targeted because of me being Mexican) Finally ordered food and it smelled like dog food I took one bit and I was so disappointed and grossed out...I was absolutely disgusted by what came out. I was never asked how was the food or checked up on. The bartender grabbed food and threw it away without asking anything at all even though she clearly saw it was barley touched. I will never come back to this establishment ever again after it was recommended by numerous amounts of people. read more

I have been here several times before. Great place to enjoy a libation outside on a deck. When it comes to food, they have been consistent as having the worst food in Ephrata. They need a new cook or maybe someone who knows how to cook. Today I hade wings. Dry, tuff and flavorless. May not be the cook. Maybe the owner or manager needs to buy a better quality of food to serve its customers. This place has the potential to being memorable for a food venue. But is going to need a lot of work. Great space and very clean. Service was terrific, attentive and friendly. Upon reading the menu, the food seemed pricy. $7.50 for mozzarella sticks and the same for fried pickles. I selected the Nachos with beef, $12. The lettuce and tomato were as fresh as could be. Chips were run of the mill, topped with cheese sauce (which I do enjoy) and undercooked and under seasoned beef. I would expect this kind of nacho platter for $5 at a little league baseball concession stand. For $12 this seems outrageous. The chicken and cheese quesadilla was pathetic looking. Very little filling of chicken and cheese and the cheese wasn't even melted. $9 for the quesadilla equally outrageous. The buffalo chicken wrap didn't look impressive but was excellent on taste, flavor and execution. Grapefruit Crush cocktail was excellent. I will call my dining average at best, because service was 5 star. I was not impressed with the food, whatsoever. Total bill $45, plus $10 tip. Overpriced and below average food. Awesome atmosphere for drinks. The food is okay. I got the steak tips with blue cheese crumbles salad. Steak was not seasoned at all which was a bummer. If I new that I would never have gotten the salad. Our appetizer was cheese steak egg rolls. They were good. My friend got the nachos supreme which was really good but for the price it should have been a larger portion for the price. The menu looks amazing. There were other things we would like to try. This place just looks sketchy. In between 2 of the nastiest motels in the area, it suits itself by treating customers like complete garbage as well. The food is mediocre at best, and the bartenders treat you like you have the plague unless you regularly come in and give them obnoxious tips. Rather surprised by some of the whiny reviews of this place.... it's a deck bar, you're not going to get bottles because broken glass is bad. Those plastic cups are most certainly not 8 oz., the prices are in line with the area (or less for some menu items), service is frequently very fast, etc. For late-night food - particularly with an adult beverage - there are very few places nearby. And oddly, the service can be "super friendly" and also completely impersonal on the same night, but stick around and you'll find that rude and grumpy servers are the norm in Ephrata. Whatever. So back to reality: you're drinking on the only real outdoor deck bar for miles around and you order some food. Did you expect a leather-bound menu? Sorry, it's laminated. Did you expect something beyond burgers, cheese steaks, wraps and fries? I can't imagine why, that's the local way of coping with alcoholism. Zia's used to be about the same but they recently bumped up the prices on their menu by a buck or two per item so right now, the Deck wins the frugality test. Their prices are pretty bad, made worse by the fact that they serve beer in puny 8 oz. clear plastic cups. In line with that consistent gouging, their drink "specials" aren't that at all--often times the Deck's "specials" price will be the regular price for the same drink or beer at most other bars. The food's pretty good, if you don't mind waiting a while for it you get to you if you order during dinner. The staff screws up consistently in the kitchen. Its location and the fact that it's outside makes me think those are the two things keeping that place going. read more

The other reviews kind of made me laugh, and also made me not sure where to start my own. First, this place is a hole in the wall. It isn't fancy, but it's fun and the food and drinks are delicious. Is it the best food I've ever had? Of course not, but on a sunny day sipping on a Strawberry Lemon Crush, those toasted cheeseburgers are some kind of magical. We stopped by on Mother's Day, which had beautiful weather, so of course the Deck was slammed. We were seated with minimal wait and our waitress stopped by fairly quickly. Although obviously busy, she was sweet and brought us drinks from the bar as soon as possible. It did take a bit for our food, but we were sitting near the kitchen and I could tell they were constantly putting out food and being very efficient about it. Our table just enjoyed the sunshine, company, and mixed drinks and didn't whine about having to wait for our cheeseburgers and fries. When they did arrive, I realized what all the fuss was about; it's kind of like a grilled cheese and a burger had a baby, and it's damn good. I think mine was all the way without mayonnaise, and it had pickles, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and mustard. The meat itself was juicy and the cheese totally surrounded it, which was amazing. The bread was toasted to perfection. We added Old Bay to our basket of fries, and they were great. I'd love to have them even crispier, and maybe the next time I stop in when it isn't so busy I'll ask for that. Prices are reasonable although I can't speak for other restaurants in the Ephrata area. I don't know about you but one of the only things I don't like about the Lancaster area is that we don't really have much in the way of waterfront environments and activities. I LOVE at the shore or at lakes being able to catch a nice dinner outside. That also being said this summer has been hot so before this week, I am not sure I would want to eat anywhere outside. I didn't really want to cook and the weather was so nice.. I thought well let's go try it out. Other than the fact that there is no sand, ocean, or lake right there, it was very much the comfortable beach-area kind of experience I LOVE this time of year. It was clean, you could smell the food goodness from the grills when we pulled up and I would have to say we were really pleased. The outdoor deck is a great idea for relaxed hanging out or getting an easy-going dinner. The food was pretty good. We had the fresh-cut fries, a cheeseburger, fried pickles and breaded hot wings. I think the only "to grow on" feedback I would give is that the wings were tiny and could have been a little crispier. Our server was really sweet and fairly attentive. As a bigger person I liked the fact that they had sturdy chairs! They have a nice seating area too with outdoor couches if you just want to go for a drink to hang out. I really liked the environment. We will be going back because it was so comfortable. I feel dumb that it took us this long to go. It would be really cool if they had an adjacent set of sand volleyball courts. I bet they could bet some good revenue hosting little tournaments and stuff.. and then they would have SAND! Have been there several times over the years, and in fact four times this summer, the most (do we qualify as "regulars"?). Service is always great. My wife enjoys the various "Crush" es. The food is bar food, OK? My favorite are the fish tacos. Took a friend form Australia there a couple of years ago, and he enjoyed himself. The best part is, it's a great place to meet up with friends during the summer. The bad part is, the motorcycle people who insist on blasting their engines upon leaving, making it unable to have a conversation with the person next to you. read more

Arrived at 7:15 pm on a Sunday night. Placed an order for an appetizer of fried pickles, I then ordered a dozen wings, and my wife, fish taco's. After an hour we asked our waitress to check on our food, she came back and apologized and said they should be out in 10 min. 15 min later we asked her again and she went to the kitchen to check and came back and politely told us that it would be longer then 10 more minutes. At this point it was an hour and a half since we sat down and ordered. To add gall to the event was the cook who wasn't wearing any hair restraint or beard net actually had the nerve to come out of the kitchen and make a last call for food at 8:45. We told her to cancel the order, we were done waiting. She was nice enough to write off the 3 drinks we had actually ordered and rec'd, and I give her credit for her honesty. But that is just plain poor service, an order that probably would have taken 10 minutes to make wasn't even started an hour and 30 min later??? I've always heard good things about this place being a fun outdoor bar. How I was fooled. My wife and I went there for lunch I ordered the hotter n hell wings she had the Buffalo chicken wrap. The wings I ordered were incredibly under cooked no crisp to them at all and the fact that they were trying to sell them for hotter n hell wings was a joke. It tasted like franks red hot and black pepper dumped on them. My wifes chicken wrap was good flavor wise but could of used more than a child's portion of meat and less sauce the wrap became very soggy. The fries she got could of been passed off the onion hay. I believe the server tried. She was very nice but I feel if I was wearing an aeropostle shirt or confused with my sexuality I would of received better service for there only being 3 or 4 tables I shouldn't wait 10 minutes for a drink. And would of appreciated her to come check us more. This was my second poor experience here last time was some years ago and I haven't returned until now and what a mistake that was. Our favorite place to eat outdoors during the Summer! Great bar food and snacks.....wings, burgers, wraps & fries, buffalo shrimp....yum! It gets very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, they don't take reservations, so go early or be prepared to wait, because people sit and drink & eat (mostly drink) for hours at their table!
