At this joint, you'll want to read the menu very closely, because apparently, words like "hot sub" don't necessarily imply the presence of something as wildly adventurous as cheese. It's best not to make assumptions about what comes with your sandwich. If the menu doesn't explicitly say cheese, lettuce, seasoning, flavor, or perhaps even basic enthusiasm, you'd better assume it's not making an appearance. So take your time, study every line, and resist the urge to apply common sense. Around there, ordering a "hot" sub apparently means the temperature--not necessarily the toppings.
