The place had good reviews for their food, went with the Margherita pizza and added sausage. Crust was thin and crispy - had great flavor. The other ingredients were super fresh and had great flavor, their sauce is fantastic. Tried the orange Hefeweizen , it was OK. You can sit anywhere when you arrive, you do have to go up to the bar to order, they have outside seating, not the best views, but it was nice out, so I enjoyed the warm temps. read more

This is a place a friend of mine recommended. I will say this, they do need to get a soda fountain as they serve the sodas in cans for a buck per can. However, the service here is very friendly, and the pizza they make is very good as well. This is probably one of the friendliest bars I've been to and that's saying something. St. Boniface is a great brewery. This spot offers indoor, bar, and shaded outdoor seating, a decent amount of parking, and lots of good bar grub and house made beers. Their drink menu is large and varied, and as someone who gets tired of only IPAs, St. Boniface offers a great selection of lagers, stouts, and hoppy options - there is something for everyone. A flight is the way to go, as you get 6 generous pours, or in our case, 7 because the bartender misread my handwriting. (Thank you!) I was a big fan of their Charter 77 pilsner, the Summer Slammer (Pineapple Kiwi Wit), and the Black Currant stout. They also had a very well-made bitter and Irish red ale, that were both delicious. There are a few cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic drink options available, too. The food menu is an array of standard pub food - pizzas, sandwiches, strombolis, and salads. I had the Italian Grinder, which was served toasted. Delicious! The pickles and chips were tasty accompaniments. My boyfriend ordered the buffalo chicken pizza and it was delicious! My only complaint was how hot (temperature) it was upon delivery. I guess it's better than the alternative, but it is a special kind of torture to have a delicious, perfect pizza in front of you that is too hot to eat. Once it cooled a little, it was incredible. I loved the crust, and they did not skimp on toppings or flavor. We grabbed a few bottles to-go, and they have lots of their beers available for takeout, including bottles, cans, crowlers, and growlers. I had a great experience at St. Boniface. A-Ok pub. St Boniface Craft Brewing is a small pub. It's a hybrid service style situation. You go up to the register to place any food and drink orders and then a server delivers them to your table. It's a bit annoying if you plan on ordering drinks throughout the night, but if you're there just for the food, it's ok. Beer selection is a decent size of microbrews. If you're a beer drinker, they'll have something for you. If you have a palette for wine, mixed drinks, or hard liquors, be aware of their limited selection. Food is your typical bar food, with a focus on pizza. They have a nice mini-pizza oven. It's not the brick ovens one might be used to in New York or New Jersey bars, but it gets the job done. All in all, Boniface is a serviceable pub. Good for a late night eat or a drink with the guys. read more

I've always enjoyed my visits here, even to the point of bringing my family up from Maryland. On one such trip, my kids bought me a $50 gift card. I produced the card for a purchase a few days ago, and was advised it was an "old" card and would not be honored. When I log in to see the card's value, it still shows $50. I advised management of my experience by email and received no response. That's an unfortunate lack of integrity. I'm steering clear of Ephrata Beer Company and Pour Man's facilities from here on out. There are too many other choices to explore. read more

Pizza and beer was delicious. Me and my boyfriend were in town and after dinner wanted to go somewhere to have a couple drinks. Looked online and it stated they closed at 1030. We arrived at 830 to be later informed they were doing last call at 915. This was a Friday night and there was at least 15 people in the establishment actively drinking and ordering food. After 915, the bartender turned away 10 customers who had come in to have a few drinks after last call. She claimed the owner wanted them to close early if she didn't think it was worth their time being open however turning away a establishment with 15 people in it and another 10 that come in after "last call" I'm not sure how that amount of people weren't "worth their time". The group of 6 who came in after last call even mentioned that online it stated they close at 1030 and she blamed the owner. read more

Where to start...two stars because I enjoy their beer. This was my first time and what an enormous disappointment. Good luck trying to get outside seating. There are only 4-5 tables. The two gals working were great, so no complaints with them. A message to management - you NEED more than two people working. The woman taking orders is also filling orders?? No wonder you have to wait in a 20+ minute line to order a beer. Meanwhile, I'm sitting at the table waiting for food, we finished our first beers and wanted another round before our food arrived. My fiancé was impatiently standing in line while our calzone was served. He was still about 10 people back. I decided to slice a few servings in advance because calzones are normally piping hot. Not this time, ICE COLD. Only the outside was warm. It literally felt like it was being chilled in the refrigerator ALL day. The server was very apologetic when I took it up to the counter, keep in mind my fiancé is still standing in line. About 15 minutes later, my fiancé returns with 4 beers. He figured he may as well order extra to avoid the line. Our calzone reappeared around the same time. Server was again apologetic, no issues with staff. Unfortunately it was only heated to lukewarm. On top of that, the paper plates are the cheapest you can buy. I get keeping expenses low by using paper, but at least spend the extra few cents to use a durable paper plate that can withstand a knife slicing back-and-forth. Add a little moisture from the cheese and vegetables and you get side of wet newspaper with your calzone. Yum. You can see in my photo that the paper plate is torn up and you are basically eating right off the table. We were famished, as it was a little later in the evening, but couldn't even eat half of the calzone. So back in line to close out our tab. Another 15-20 minutes wasted. I was really hoping to love this place. Maybe this is a unique spot for Ephrata, but I'll drive an extra few minutes to head into Lancaster. I'll continue to buy their beer at beverage shops and avoid this debacle of a brewery. read more

Good beer. Cool environment. Unfortunate statement from an employee. We were visiting friends in the area and had heard good things about St. Boniface (namely their hegemony stout). One member of our group does not drink. She goes along with us to breweries and will have water or Diet Coke. She asked for a glass of water and was pointed in the direction of the self serve station with plastic cups. She asked if she could please have an actual glass and maybe some ice. She was told that the liquor control board does not allow them to serve anything but beer in glasses. If it is company policy, then just say so. If the employee didn't want to be bothered, just say so. What should not be done is to issue an untrue statement which can be checked. We have been to countless breweries and usually don't encounter any issues getting a glass of water. I could understand if this was a tiny brewery in a garage or something. However this is not only a taproom but they serve food. It put on a damper on the experience. Now onto the beer. We got a flight containing Food of the Gods (Pilsner), Wynfred (English session ale), Capo on Four (Marzen), Black Currant Stout, Hegemony Stout, and Hegemony Anniver8ary Stout. The beers were good, but I wasn't blown away as much as I expected to be. The Hegemony Stout was solid, but didn't stand out compared to a lot of other good stouts I have had. The one beer that really stood out was the Anniver8ary Stout. That stood far above the regular version for sure. I don't know that I will be back. When I am in the area I tend to check out new breweries and maybe do a return stop at a favorite. The beer was good, but service off-putting. read more

WOW! This was the last stop of the night and it definitely didn't disappoint. The staff was awesome! They made some really great recommendations on food and drink. They were extremely friendly to talk to and could tell they enjoyed being there. I loved the sour beer and liked that there were actually two on tap. Really neat place inside with a view into the kitchen. I would love to come back here in the summer to sit outside. Best part? They have this mushroom and pepper pizza ... best I've had in SO long. Loved visiting this quaint brewery! It was definitely worth the country drive. My husband and I enjoy sampling beer at breweries all across the country and this is the first brewery we've been to where we thoroughly enjoyed all of the 6 beers we tried. We would highly recommend the 225 Lager if you like light beer. The menu was very basic with mainly gourmet pizzas and sandwiches but the prices were reasonable. If you just want a snack while sampling beer, the loaded potato chips were delicious but only the top layer of chips had toppings. read more

A seasoned world traveler told me whenever she goes to a new place and feels disoriented she looks for an Irish pub, because they're exactly the same with a similar vibe and clientele no matter where you are. I'm learning the same is true of craft brew places, with St. Boniface being a fine example. It's a cool, dark, inviting space whether you want to eat or just drink, linger or grab a growler fill and go as we did. The locals are likely to comment on your choice and possibly your attire, but in a friendly way. Most growler fills are $11, which is excellent value. Double IPA highly recommended. In fact, after becoming disoriented trying to navigate the Amish back country we ended up here a second day, and purchased another growler (I always have a few empties in my trunk, as should you) to take home. read more
