When I pulled in there was one car already there being handed the pay kiosk device. So I would assume two or three minutes at most but I sat there for about five before thinking "I should take some pictures for Yelp!" And so I did, then a minute or so later they left and I pulled up. They asked me to wait and then came back over seconds later to take my order. There were two women inside, both sides open for cars. So I still was confused as to why the first one took so long. There wasn't anyone there when I pulled up so I assumed it was closed or I would have gone over. They took my order, were extremely kind and friendly/conversational. Cost wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but the tipping was weird. They hand you the kiosk for a tip, and the first button was 30%... I have never seen that be an option before. And then it was 20% and 18% I think... regardless I remember that the 30 threw me for a loop. It took about five minutes from payment to them taking the kiosk back and giving me my drink... Also, I know some places don't have straws with wrappers but they'll put the straw in and then hand me my drink. The woman helping me literally walked to the window, fingers on the tip of the straw and handed me the drink after putting it in. I'm awkward and wouldn't ever say anything but I thought that was disgusting. Egg bites were like mushy and tasted like burnt cheese, though they looked normal so it's how they're made. And the caramel slush was chemical tasting? No coffee flavor and no caramel flavor. I won't be back, I'll stick to my usual spot.

I know people who worked in coffee shops and they've even mentioned this to me whenever they go here. I hope this owner steps up and takes care of the safety of his employees because THEY are the ones making him money - the ones that are excellent to every customer. Heading toward Hillsboro or points north and West? This is your place. I'm still not a fan of reviewing chains, but Black Rock is the far lesser of sugar-coffee evils around here. First off, it's one of the few that cares enough about coffee to offer multiple roasts, use an actual espresso roast and offers Americanos, Cortados, Breves, etc. The rest is contractor/trucker/bartender fuel, and there isn't a thing wrong with that. There are many coffee drinkers who find pouring an energy drink into coffee absolutely vile, but nobody's forcing you to order that here and the "secret menu" isn't really built with us in mind. But when you have workers who, unlike certain chains in this state, don't spend the day pounding back that supply and coming up with ways to interrogate customers as if it's a TikTok challenge, it's a welcome change. The Black Rock window folks strike the right balance between caring about their task and not caring about fitting as many words into their interaction with you as humanly possible. I've been in line behind people who find this off-putting, but I actually like getting in and out of there at a reasonable speed and not spending much of my day making idle chatter with faces I'll never remember and people who are trying to earn as many tips on their shift as possible. It's also nice to know that springing for a caramel truffle or Mexican mocha won't hold up the line or warrant an eye roll. Sometimes, all you're asking for is your cup of coffee, a brief and unmemorable interaction and the freedom to resume your day without weirdness or confrontation. Black Rock comes through on this front every time, and doesn't require you to burn gas idling in line for a publicly traded national corporation.

Seeing I haven't been in there for quite some time I feel the Starbucks I have been visiting regularly, the drive thru on west union, deserves their own review. I've been there many times, both going through drive thru and ordering inside the store. Usually I'm in good spirits, however on the occasion that I may feel cranky because some drivers don't posses decency and care for others while they get their brew, as soon as this team of awesomeness says their greeting all that grrr washes away. I haven't met one that wasn't cheerful, or didn't have a smile or chat available while your coffee and snacks are being prepped and handed over. They're a cheerful bunch that work their butts off ! Can it be busy at this spot ? Yep, you bet your sweet coffee it can be !!! A big line in an awkward spot, include people that feel it's fine blocking an intersection while there's already a line on the other side (just drive around please), maybe the one or two people that don't feel safe driving their car through a drive thru leaving 1-2 cars of space in front of them (where you end up unable to place your order), the ones too busy with their phones, maybe the occasional person placing a big order, then the occasional person adding extra items at pick up after they already ordered... I'm not judging, I'm merely stating what cluls possibly. Next to all of that there is of course the online orders and in store orders.... whatever the case may be, I doubt it's a lack of the team not working hard. Pretty sure they water down their coffee because every time I get coffee from here and I always get blonde roast, It literally tastes watered down, and I barely get any type of energy from the coffee here which would make sense since it taste so watered down. The customer service at this location is terrible. Everyone I've ever encountered at this location is always rude and in a bad mood and has a terrible attitude, they are also very stingy on products here, anytime I've gotten my drink I get a lot of caramel drizzle and I've had to repeatedly go back multiple times every time I get my drink and ask for the right amount and even one time a couple summers ago one of the workers denied giving me more caramel sauce, even though I had paid for it... don't know who owns this location, but they really shouldn't be an owner if they feel like they need to be stingy with their products. Anybody else who I've spoken to about this location feels the same way, they've also said that their coffee always tastes watered down and doesn't taste like it's good quality coffee compared to other locations. It's weird to be denied a cup of ice because they don't remember you being there earlier in the day as well... You're that desperate for money that you can't even give a customer who was there a couple hours prior, a cup of ice????? lol I almost never come to this location anymore which is really unfortunate because this location is so close to my house. I could literally spit on their front door from my back door of my house... But I am forced to go to another location a lot further away because this location is so terrible in so many ways.
