Dave likes to exaggerate about many things. If he tells you he will be at your home at 8am, expect him anywhere between 930am and 3pm. If he tells you the project will be completed in 4 to 5 weeks, expect it to be completed around 6-8 weeks.
Dave is a general contractor and doesn't do much of the labor himself. He uses a number of subcontractors who actually do decent work. The subcontractors show up on time, unlike Dave. The problem is Dave's horrible planning and scheduling. Days went by when his subcontractor failed to show up. When workers are scheduled to show up on the average of 4-5 hours on each "work day", you can't expect the job to be completed in a timely matter. His workers only work Mondays through Fridays unless you bug him repeatedly.
Expect avoidable problems during the project because Dave is a really busy guy. Dave honestly thinks he's a really good talker. He has way too many little projects going on and it's obvious he does not multi-task very well. At the beginning of my dealings with Dave, I repeatedly told him how important a person's word meant to me. I repeatedly told him to just be honest about the project and to not BS me. I was BS'd so many times I actually lost count :(
Dave, this might be difficult to understand but it is so disrespectful when you lie to someone to their face and they know you're lying. Please be honest with yourself and to your customers. Obviously, Dave's "word" means absolutely zero to me. I have at least 2 friends who were looking to remodel their homes. I think you know Dave will not to be recommended. I would not do this to my friends.
Dave's brother (Mike) is the foreman and he was a great guy. Courteous, showed up on time as stated and worked hard. Thank you Mike. read more
