I sure did not want to write this review, but it is important that you have all the information…read morewhen selecting a contractor for your home. While Tammy was very nice every step of the way, I had serious issues when it came to the installation of our countertops.
When the prefab meeting occurred it was suggested that I consider adding a waterfall to remedy a cabinet issue we had. I liked the idea and agreed to the added charge. What they did not explain is that this would create a terrible looking match on our main bar. No explanations or options were presented. They told me it looked nice and was standard. If I wanted it right, I would have had to buy more material. Yet, I was never given the choice. On the day of the installation, the waterfall was not constructed correctly and there had to be a modification to make it right. This meant an added charge, but fortunately the fabricator ultimately decided not to bill me for the error.
On the day of the install, the fabricator cut a lot of the materials in our driveway. The front of our house, our outside landscaping, home flooring, and some of our kitchen was covered or heavily dirtied with quartz dust and other materials. It took cleaning after cleaning after cleaning to try and get rid of the fine quartz soot. After the install, we (my husband and I) notice a dull spot on one of the slabs. The fabricator came back out to buff it, but insisted nothing was there (yet my husband and I both saw it clearly). We thought this was so strange that we could see the issue, but the professional could not.
Then came the backsplash installer, who was very nice, yet he installed the tile border crooked. I had to have him redo the work the next day. He was also unable to move the stove, so he left the base of the tiles uncaulked (which we had to figure out how to fill on our own).
These are just some of the issues we faced. I sent Steele a 4-page letter and they basically did nothing at all to remedy the problems. In fact, other than Tammy, no one even responded. Instead, I was told that the end product I received was standard and they would try to warn clients about the potential mess in the future.
To top it all off, anytime I needed something done, there was an added charge, even to the point when they sent me my invoice to pay online (which was the only option offered), they billed me for the service. Of course when I said I would mail a check at the time of the 2nd payment, they quickly waived the fee. You would think with $15K in work, the mess, and a bad counter install they would have managed to waive an $8 invoice fee. Apparently, their internal billing charge is too much for them, but not for me.
As much as I wanted to love this company, I am still bothered by their lack of excellence and concern. I was warned not to use them and I wish I would have listened.
